I was working for a tree service at age 14, and every summer thereafter until I graduated high school, and I now work there full time. I get up at 3am to go on a two hour commute to the capital district area from the fucking mountains in upstate New York. I dragged brush 80 yards across an open field in the hot sun today to reach the chipper, and then wheeled several wheelbarrow loads of blocks of wood to throw onto the back of the chip truck, cleaned up the mess of the trees we had taken down, and that was just what I did after my lunch at 11:30. That was one job, and we completed 5 today, so I'd have to humbly disagree with you there.
>.> I was working laying asphalt when I was 16. In south Texas. In the summer.
Don't take what I say too seriously. And it was a generalization, most white people these days are too lazy to do much, but that doesn't mean everyone. Fuck, I worked with a guy who wanted go home because he had injured himself.... with a broken nail.
Personally, I think it all depends upon the upbringing, but it was a random comment, not a serious debate over whether white people can actually work or not. I could care less. People in NY want $15 an hr to flip burgers, but hey, that's the norm these days. Everyone wants something for a little bit of nothing.
