Yes, seeing that neither of them seem to remember, especially Hayley. Given the traumatic incident, the sheer fear could have wiped parts of her past clean.

I was thinking that Nigel could start recognizing her, which might play into why he didn't kill her when he had the chance

That would work nicely since it leaves Hayley confused, especially once Sarah is out of the picture. It would only make her feel even more resentful of Nigel. Thus, starting his uphill battle with her. :P
