You could say that she tried to shoot an arrow at the wolf but there was to many and they ate her, they ganged up on her.

That can do too. It's up to Dark. Having her die probably would emotionally scar the party seeing their very first permanent death, but not killing her and having her run away works as well as a less brutal predicament xD and less traumatizing.
