There's also, I believe, a setting you can turn on that involves taking another warring faction's land. If they've died enough for their power level to be lower than the amount they need for their land, you can take a chunk of their stuff even if your base isn't nearby.

Well factions work well for antigriefing anyway. That is, unless you start a city and let everyone in on it :P

iirc, there isn't many new things that need to be generated. Ocean... temple... things- are about the only thing I can think of.

Well, that and all the new terrible-looking and useless stone.

If new chunks will only have the new stuff, then you will have to venture way further out to get it which will take up more memory on the server. Besides, you can get much of what you have again fairly quickly.

I know when they implemented horses, the horses didn't spawn in already existing biomes, so it might be the same case with rabbits.

And yeah that would be useful, but I feel like we're all grown up enough to give eachother space and all that noise. I was on another server that did that and we all managed fine.

Plus then people wouldn't get annoyed at me for inviting people to my faction. 8D

I think we should reset for 1.8. There are TONS of massive performance improvements done in 1.8, both server and client side. I'm talking 10 FPS to 60-80 and server CPU usage going down 30-60 percent. Not to mention the blazing fast chunk loading/generation.

You're talking like factions are being considered for removal.

They are a perfectly useful anti-griefing method. There's no reason to remove it.

EDIT: How are plugins affected by an update? Do you have to use new plugins that are designed to work for the version?

I said I wasn't super enthusiastic about them anyway, and you started to defend them. I said why I don't like having factions, I'm well aware most people want them.

It will take a few weeks for all of them to be updated to 1.8, so it would likely be straight vanilla until then, or Giygas might just keep us at 1.7 until then.

I haven't decided about the map reset, you guys can decide, since you spent time building everything.

Not really for it tbh, but I realize most people are. I'd be up for some sort of compromise but I think it might be more trouble than it's worth trying to implement.

Do I want it removed? I don't know, I'm comfortable with it now. I didn't want it at first, but I acknowledged that most people want it.

I can't express in clear enough terms how much I don't want that to happen. I'd rather no factions than that.

I like factions as basically being a second level of whitelisting.

I don't play minecraft for PvP. If the server becomes PvP based then I'm out. ( I know, such a huge threat, how would you get on without me? D: )
