Name: Mariana Silva Camilo Coelho (goes by Mariana Coelho)
Age: 16
Appearance: Mariana is quite short, at exactly 5 feet. She has short brown hair, brown eyes and pale white skin. Physically, she is not quite the definition of "physically imposing".
Since birth, however, she has been taught a number of mannerisms to attain a separate kind of "imposing". She always keeps her head angled back - subtly, not too obviously - so others look "up" to her even when they're taller. She always keeps a neutral expression - more of a smile than a frown, but ultimately neither.
And her various clothes add to her presence immensely, regal and jewel-speckled as they are. She wears an olive-green frilly dress with tiny jewels lining the neckline, an olive-green Sunday hat with a large brim, and olive-green shoes with a slight heel (like Derby shoes), studded with tiny jewels. Worn with this are maroon stockings, maroon gloves that extend to her elbows, and a maroon ribbon tied around her hat. Finally, pinned to her chest is a bright red brooch, displaying the seal of the Coelho family.
Other than the family seal, the outfit is deliberately muted and not flashy. She carries a regal air, but not an obnoxiously-regal one.
She speaks with a slight accent.
Trainer Class: Heiress (Lady, if it has to be canon)
Personality: On the outside, Mariana is respectful and polite, yet determined. Her voice is naturally charismatic, and she is an expert bargainer and diplomat. She's no royalty, but she always has a regal air about her. Her only flaws are that she naturally distances herself slightly from everyone, and perhaps a bit too interested in world economics. All in all, she's a respectful, kind stranger.
On the inside is a very different image. An ambitious girl, Mariana thinks of herself as a powerful world player in training, simply maintaining good relations with the little people. Since birth, the line "reputation is everything" has been ingrained into her heart by her parents. After all, monarchies only fall when the little people stop liking the important people. She of course keeps this opinion to herself, as reputation is everything.
She does have a strong sense of honor, per se. She dislikes lying, at least about outright facts; lying about her opinions is fine. She repays all debts, figuratively as well as literally, though this is mostly due to the "reputation is everything" motto. Similarly, she doesn't break promises, even unofficial ones.
The only people she truly cares for are her family (and, oddly enough, not just for the massive inheritance). Everyone else is either beneath her or against her. Both, of course, she'll treat with false courtesy, alway keeping an eye out for openings against the latter.
Her interests include corporate finance, world economics, the very concept of royalty, self-defense and camping. She also likes to feign interest in whatever it's respectable to be interested in. In terms of romance, any future marriage she gets is most likely going to be political. For her, falling in love won't be impossible, but somewhat unlikely.
In regards to Pokemon, at the beginning of the RP, she knows about as much about them as any Joe Shmoe in this world. She knows the common or obvious things, but for example doesn't yet know that Rock and Ground are separate types.
Also, Psychic Pokemon seem to hate her, for some reason.
Backstory: Born in a region southwest of Kalos, Mariana is the child of two powerful families (her father of the Coelho family and her mother of the Silva Camilo family), and is set to inherit both, along with their respective multinational family businesses, Unicim and STEC. She has been trained since birth to handle the inevitably-chaotic merger, not only in corporate finance but in politeness and speech.
Her education consisted primarily of learning all things economic, but also with a heavy dosage of charisma, poise, speaking and even acting. It was almost exclusively by private tutor, and the only classes she took with other children, self-defense classes, instilled within her at an early age an animosity towards those whom most would consider peers. This animosity, after years of her other classes and luxurious upbringing, would transform into a well-hidden, well-trained, egotistic megalomania. She became socially competent, but saw relationships primarily as tools to use, rather than as goals in themselves.
News of the new Pokemon League being built in the Saro region reached Mariana and her family(-ies?) when she was 16. Her parents were initially reluctant to allow her to go unguarded, but decided that, as she was already 16, this might be the only opportunity she'd have to experience a Pokemon journey, perhaps make some human friends as well, and ultimately gain some wisdom about the world that would come in handy once she inherited both family businesses. The only prerequisite was that she get a GPS chip - the type meant for pets - and call them every day.
Mariana felt insulted by this, in fact very much so, but she decided it didn't matter. She was fine, as long as she could accomplish her own goals in this - to undermine the control the D.E.P.T.H. corporation held on the region, and then, to establish her own.
Favorite Pokemon Type: "Regal" Pokemon, often Dragon types. She avoids "unpopular" types like Dark and Ghost, as they might impact her reputation.
Other: I plan to break this character over the course of this RP, with a severe case of character development.
And my favorite color is green. Lime green. Not olive green...
EDIT: Just to add the line with the Psychic Pokemon.
