I played twice more, for the hell why not.

First, I played sadistically, making the protag a weak-willed as possible and making him say yes to Claire and no to his boyfriend. Then I played him as a total /ass/ so he got beat up. I was actually a little disappointed by how hard it is to be brutishly blunt in this game, now that I finished my third try.

I found playing through this rather aggravating.

I wanted him to punch the father in the face.

And the mother.

And just go berserk rage with rainbows and shit.

But seriously though, real eye opener and good that the game was made. Actually garnered an emotional response from me. Mainly anger.

It's almost as though it was intentional, wasn't it?

I really enjoyed this game. I felt awkward, pressured, and stressed out the whole time. Exactly what the game wanted.

Dad was an asshole, it made me happy when it was revealed that he had left the family even before 2010.

I played this game last night and felt genuine anxiety about my answers. I played it as I would respond, which since I'm not very good with confrontation and I don't like to disappoint people, you can imagine how well it went.

It's been a long time since I had to 'break' anything to my parents and I think I forgot how hard it is when someone else is in control of your life as in food, shelter, etc. It was a very emotional game and while I've never had to experience this first hand, my husband and I have talked about what we would do in this situation. If we ever have kids and if one of them came out as gay, we both agree that it doesn't change anything, we would love them and work to see that they were healthy and happy. Seeing how these parents react, is just really sad.

Good game for anyone to try, no matter what orientation. Thanks for that link, Alex.
