"I expect you back by midnight." Dexter said teasingly to the Doctor as he went and began to speak with Liam asking to be told his story.
"My mother was from the Arctic Dessert, and my father was a Texan. I grew up down there as a girl. You know you could be flatter Dexter. Got a bit of a chin poking out."
"No thanks, rather be shot at by the universes worst nightmare than that. How many operations have you had?" He asked disgusted.
"Nine hundred and six. Next week it's going to be nine hundred and seven. Bleaching my blood. Is that why you wanted to have a little talk?" He asked.
"You say you're the last human."
"The last pure human. Others are half human, new humans, human-ish, or mixed in with some other aliens. Know what I call them? Mongrels."
"You're not really human at all. You had it nicked and tucked and taken all away and left behind a bitchy trampoline in it's wake. It's what humans do best, mix in with other's so that a new better person can be made. You just got left behind." Dexter shot. "I am more human than you are. My parents were both human too and born and raised on that planet." He said excusing himself from the...transgender-ed thing.

"So tell me, Jabe, what's a tree like you doing in a place like this?" The Doctor asked Jabe kindly. "Respect for the Earth." This made The Doctor scoff. "Oh, come on. Everyone on this platform's worth zillions." "Well, perhaps it's a case of having to be seen at the right occasions." Jabe said smoothly. "In case your share prices drop? I know you lot. You've got massive forests everywhere, roots everywhere, and there's always money in land." The Doctor explained. "All the same, we respect the Earth as family. So many species evolved from that planet. Mankind is only one. I'm another. My ancestors were transplanted from the planet down below, and I'm a direct descendant of the tropical rainforest." She explained.

The Doctor noticed something. "Excuse me." She then scans a door panel marked 'Welcome to Platform One. Guide of Platform One Do You Need Assistance with her sonic screwdriver. A keypad labelled Maintenance log in, then Access denied. She cursed under her breath. Jabe took that as a sign to continue. "And what about your ancestry, Doctor? Perhaps you could tell a story or two. Perhaps a woman only enjoys trouble when there's nothing else left. I scanned you earlier. The metal machine had trouble identifying your species. It refused to admit your existence. And even when it named you, I wouldn't believe it. But it was right. I know where you're from. Forgive me for intruding, but it's remarkable that you even exist. I just wanted to say how sorry I am."

He puts her hand on her arm, and the Doctor puts her hand over his. A tear then drops from her eye. And at that moment, she gets the door open. She quickly wiped the tear away. Before they entered the room.

Dexter roused from whatever it had been that knocked him out after leaving the room recognizing the same area where he and the Doctor had spoken a bit, to reconcile, going to the door and finding it locked a look of comprehension on his face. "Uh-oh." He said looking at the window. He would bet everything he owned that, that glass was the only thing protecting him from becoming a crisp. This, was not good. He just hoped that the Doctor would hurry up. He had no idea how long he'd be in here until whatever was going to happen would happen.

The Doctor and Jabe arrive outside the Stewards office. Smoke from the room is filling the corridor and the glare is coming through a small glass panel in the door. The little assistants have gathered. The Doctor had an epiphany. "Hold on. Get back." The Doctor uses the sonic on another small panel. Sun filter rising. Sun filter rising. "Is the Steward in there?!" Jabe yelled in concern. "You can smell him. Hold on, there's another sun filter programmed to descend." The Doctor said in realization before she ran off.

Dexter paced near the door determined not to move. Sunfilter rising. He distinctly heard a computer voice saying. He banged on the door. "Get me out of here!" He yells hoping that the Doctor was out there and could hear him. Temperature rising.

The Doctor runs to the door and begins working on the control panel, trying to get the door open. "Hold on. Give me two ticks." She responded trying to get the door open with her sonic. Sun Filter Descending. Sun Filter Descending.....Sun Filter Rising. Sun Filter Rising.... The Doctor sighs in relief. Sun Filter Descending. The Doctor groaned, going to work again. "The computers getting clever." She yelled to Dexter.

Dexter gave a short humorless laugh. "Oh? The computer's getting clever. And here I thought you were having me on for laughs." He quipped sarcastically as he warily watched the window and avoiding being burnt.

Sun Filter Descending. Sun filter rising. Sun filter rising. The Doctor tried to open the door but they wouldn't open. "The whole thing's jammed. I can't open the doors. Stay there!" Before she ran away. Earth Death in five minutes. When she reached the observation deck, everyone was panicking basically. Jabe was speaking. "The metal machine confirms. The spider devices have infiltrated the whole of Platform One." Then, Liam was speaking. "How's that possible? Our private rooms are protected by a code wall. Moisturise me, moisturise me." Then, Moxx spoke. "Summon the Steward." "I'm afraid the Steward is dead." Jabe said. Moxx spoke next. "Who killed him?" Then, Liam was speaking loudly trying to blame. "This whole event was sponsored by the Face of Boe. He invited us. Talk to the Face. Talk to the Face."

The Face shook it's head in denial. Then, the Doctor made her entrance. "Easy way of finding out. Someone bought their little pet on board. Let's send him back to master." The Doctor puts down the spider that Jabe was scanning, and it scuttles off to Liam and scans him, then goes to the black gowned group. "The Adherents of the Repeated Meme. J'accuse!" Liam, once again, said in blame. But, the Doctor was not amused and didn't fall for it. "That's all very well, and really kind of obvious, but if you stop and think about it..." She goes over to the Adherants. Their leader tries to hit her, so she pulls of it's arm. "A Repeated Meme is just an idea. And that's all they are, an idea." She pulls one of the wires dangling from the arm, and the Adherants all collapse.

"Remote controlled Droids. Nice little cover for the real troublemaker. Go on, Jimbo. Go home."The Doctor gives the spider a nudge with her foot, and it returns to Liam. "I bet you were the school prude and never got kissed. At arms!" Liam yelled at the Doctor, the last part aimed at her assistant. His attendants raise their spray guns. The Doctor scoffs before mocking her. "What are you going to do, moisturise me?" She said in a teasing voice. "With acid. Oh, you're too late, anyway. My spiders have control of the mainframe. Oh, you all carried them as gifts, tax free, past every code wall. I'm not just as handsome face." This caused the Doctor to scoff. "Not even that." She mumbled under her breath. "Sabotaging a ship while you're still inside it? How stupid's that?"

"I'd hoped to manufacture a hostage situation with myself as one of the victims. The compensation would have been enormous." The Doctor scoffed, looking at Liam in disgust. "Five billion years and it still comes down to money." "Do you think it's cheap, looking like this? Flatness costs a fortune. I am the last human, Doctor. Me. Not that freaky little kid of yours." Moxx spoke up. "Arrest her, the infidel" "Oh, shut it, pixie. I've still got my final option." Liam said with purpose. Earth Death in three minutes. "And here it comes. You're just as useful dead, all of you. I have shares in your rival companies and they'll triple in price as soon as you're dead. My spiders are primed and ready to destroy the safety systems. How did that old Earth song go? Burn, baby, burn." Liam said with an ugly glare.

"Then you'll burn with us." Jabe said, being the honorable person he is. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I know the use of teleportation is strictly forbidden, but I'm such a naughty thing. Spiders, activate. There are a series of explosions. "Forcefields gone with the planet about to explode. At least it'll be quick. Just like my fifth wife. Oh, shame on me." Safety systems failing. "Bye, bye, darlings. Bye, bye, my darlings." And Liam and his assistants beamed away. Heat levels rising. "Reset the computer." Moxx suggested. Jabe quickly shot that down. "Only the Steward would know how." The Doctor was quick to respond. "No. We can do it by hand. There must be a system restore switch. Jabe, come on. You lot, just chill." She said to them with a smirk before she left, Jabe trailing behind her. Heat rising.

Heat levels critical. The Computer said as the Doctor and Jabe arrived into the room. "Oh. And guess where the switch is." It was on the other side of the turning razor sharp fans. Heat levels rising. Heat levels rising. The Doctor pulls a breaker lever and the fans slow a little, but it resets as soon as he lets go of it. External temperature five thousand degrees. Jabe pulls the breaker and holds it down. The Doctor shakes her head, concern in her eyes. "You can't. The heat's going to vent through this place." "I know." But, The Doctor wasn't giving up. "Jabe, you're made of wood." "Then stop wasting time, Time Lady." Heat levels rising. Heat levels rising. And in the room Dexter was in, the glass started cracking. The light coming in.

Heat levels critical. Heat levels critical. The Doctor looks back at Jabe, then times her run past the second fan. Heat levels rising. Heat levels rising. Jabe starts to combust. He lets go of the breaker and the fans speed up to faster than before until they are just a blur. Planet explodes in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five The Doctor loses her eyes and focuses. It was as if time slowed down She could hear the sound of the fans going by but, it was as if time had no meaning and she had all the time in the world. So, she took a deep breath before walking past the fan. Four. She opens her eyes, realises she is safe and dashes for the reset breaker. "Raise shields!" One. A forcefield envelopes Platform One as the Earth starts to boil, then explodes. Exoglass repair. Exoglass repair. Exoglass repair. Exoglass repair. In the engine rooms, the fans have slowed right down for the Doctor to walk back easily to Jabe's smoking remains. "Jabe." She mutters and looks down in sadness before she felt anger bubble up inside her. Her eyes darkened with rage to a inky black color before she then stomped out of the room.

"Actually I fancied a walk outside." Dexter said uselessly for no one was around to hear the quip staying right where he was until the glass started to fracture. He shivers dispute the heat rising in the room. Well in all actuality, he might just be dust on the planet about to combust by this time. But the thought of dying this way was not a pleasant thought. He sighs in relief when the glass began to heal itself glad to not have died and shook his head feeling stupid. Many others had probably lost their lives cause of the intense heat. He felt a kind of sadness for the lives that were probably lost, not that he knew which ones had died or lived.

The Doctor arrived in the main room and walked straight to the other trees to tell them the bad news. "I'm sorry but.....Jabe is dead," The Doctor said, emotion in her voice although her face was emotionless. She wasn't sad.....she would grieve later but, right now? She was pissed off. She left the trees to their grief, they were having a private moment.

Dexter sat in the room letting his thoughts drift as he heard the countdown had reached zero. No one had seen that wonderful planet die, too busy with the starship going hectic. Or with saving their own skin.
You seem to be missing someone. Why don't you get him while your clever brain figures out who the tramp got out of the platform? Boe suggested knowing she needed a few good minutes to gather her wits after losing her temper.

The Doctor decided to listen to the voice. He hasn't steered her wrong. Besides, she had an idea. And she needed Dexter. So, she was running once again. When she arrived to the room she walked in and walked straight to Dexter. "Come on, it's time to end this." She told him holding out her hand for him to take. Her eyes still dark with anger but she'd calmed down an okay amount.

Dexter stood up looking at the Doctor smiling, taking her hand. He thought he never wanted to have her full anger directed at him having seen just that small bit she showed. He followed her to the room as she did her clever plan.

When the Doctor entered the room she was pissed....once again. So, she made it known. Her voice loud and serious. "You know what? I'm full of ideas. I'm bristling with them. Idea number one: Teleportation through 5,000 degrees needs some kind of feed. Idea number two: This feed must be hidden nearby." She walks over to the 'Ostritch egg' and smashes it. This reveals a small device. "Idea number three: If you are as clever as me, then a teleportation feed can be reversed." While she used her sonic on it.

And almost instantly, Liam is teleported back in. "Oh, you should have seen their little alien faces." Liam was gloating as he was beamed back in. When he realized where he was, he deflated. "Oh." He said, clearly dejected and nervous. "The last human." The Doctor sneered at Liam. Liam tried to play it off. "So, you passed my little test. Bravo. This makes you eligible to join, er, the Human Club." The Doctor was quick to reply. "People have died, Liam. You murdered them."

"It depends on your definition of people, and that's enough of a technicality to keep your lawyers dizzy for centuries. Take me to court, then, Doctor, and watch me cry and flutter." Liam was saying with a smug face that he didn't even notice he was creaking. "And creak?" The Doctor questioned with an emotionless face and her arms crossed. "And what?" Liam asked, still not getting it. "Creak. You're creaking." Now, here comes the panicking. "What? Ah! I'm drying out! Oh, sweet heavens. Moisturise me, moisturise me! Where are my surgeons? My lovely girls! It's too hot!"

"You raised the tempature." The Doctor said, not even flinching. "Have pity! Moisturise me! Oh, oh, Doctor. I'm sorry. I'll do anything." Liam pleaded. The Doctor ignored everything, focusing on Liam. "Everything has it's time and everything dies." She simply said. "I'm too young!" Liam screamed before it happened.

Before Liam had a chance to explode Dexter had tried to get her to help the bastard. Sure Dexter deserved worse. But let's be honest, she played judge, jury, and executioner. But Liam still exploded and Dexter looked up at the empty space where the Earth had been. "All those years of history and everyone missed it trying to save themselves." He said morosely.

The Doctor looked at Dexter with an unreadable look. Before she grabbed Dexter's hand. "Come with me." She said before she began dragging him to the TARDIS. Once inside she then began piloting the TARDIS and they were gone. When they stopped they were in London. She grabbed his hand and led him out the of the TARDIS and out of the alley onto the sidewalk. The streets were burstling with people going about their daily lives.

"You think it'll last forever, people and cars and concrete, but it won't. One day it's all gone. Even the sky. My planet's gone. It's dead. It burned like the Earth. It's just rocks and dust before it's time."

Dexter looked at the Doctor realizing she was all alone. "You don't have to be alone anymore. There's me." He said as he wanted to continue traveling with her. And chips. He could smell them and not having had much to eat craved them. "Know what I usually get after a long day? Chips. And you're buying." He said with a teasing grin.

The Doctor's eyes snapped to Dexter with wide eyes. Was he.....? A warm feeling bubbled up into her chest. She.....she wasn't alone. She then smirked when he questioned her about chips. She got a fake sad look. "No money." She said, a smirk teasing on her lips.

"Alright you tight wad, chips are on me then." Dexter teases as he offers his hand for her to take as he lead them to the nearest chippy to get some food in their stomachs. He knew he could use it.
