Pathfinder A walking disaster

Member Seen 6 yrs ago

Distraught that I couldn't find a creature suitable for my gift of wonder, I decided to leave the large spheres that my siblings created and continue to expand my creations. I tried to forget about my failure, but it kept nagging at me, pulling at my being in a way most unpleasant. With a huff, I settled down in darkness once again. Far from any of my siblings and began to brood.

That is until a thought wormed its way through and inspiration came again, I could make my own. Summoning up a group of stars, I squeezed them together and made a glowing lump of... something. Thinking on to my siblings creations I started to add things. Two grabby things here, two walky things there, and finally it was finished. Well mostly. It was tall, strong and angular. But it was also luminescent and blank. Shrugging it off I started again, this one was soft curves which was a stark contrast to the hard angles of the first. Excitedly I rushed back to my siblings with my new creations, hoping for some feedback on what to do next.

The trials they faced as they crafted a world from scratch were numerous. One of the more creative had decided to carefully craft lush vegetation and animals to inhabit the surface of the planet but promptly burst to flames or died immediately of an unknown cause. Inhospitable, barren and hot the environment did not seem to suit these plants and creatures.

Though these beings that could instantly create and sculpt the universe around them were powerful alone it became evident that when they stood together they could truly accomplish amazing feats that ordinarily a tunnel-visioned God perhaps could not have imagined on their own. The first example of these was the creation of another rocky, barren sphere that orbited the Earth.

The Moon was created, though it did little to stop the burning rays of the Sun from scorching their precious Earth. The conversation amongst these Gods continued for some time on how to support the beautiful creatures and flora the other brother so desperately desired to inhabit their blessed Earth. It was the Moon which created enough admiration from one of the others that he attempted to create his own imitation.. unfortunately it was not as divine as the first and quickly crumbled.. the chunks formed large, rocky bodies that floated aimlessly around the universe which on occasion would strike the Sun, Stars or even the Moon and Earth. It seemed the second Moon was a failure until something amazing happened as the essence and spirt of the Moon enveloped the Earth in a protective atmosphere that shielded it from the Sun and slowly but surely the planet began to cool.

The atmosphere was doing a marvelous job of protecting the planet as well as harnessing elements that previously escaped. Oxygen. Now the creatures could breath but only the toughest of them could survive the still barren planet. It was watching their suffering yet another God gave the gift of water. Oceans, Lakes, Rivers and so forth that began to cool the Earth to lessen the creatures suffering.. the water gave new life to the trees, plants and grass and animal species began to inhabit the world in numbers untold.

Cooperation continued as they saw the rewards of their combined effort. The Moon created tides, regulating the waves of the oceans. Other created rain and storms to refresh the creatures and planets and another God yet created Clouds to traffic this moisture.. more creatures still were created out of the imaginations of these beings.. violent weather patterns were created which cleansed the landscape to be recreated anew.

Though beautiful this world had become these beings longed for something.. and slowly but surely they again began to plot and contemplate their greatest creation yet..

I stare at the wolf, idly. It wasn't different from most other creatures. Didn't care for its surroundings. Only had instincts. Or so, I thought.

Then, looking deeper into its mind...I saw aggression. A creature of the hunt. Malevolent. But also...Loyal to its pack. I stared. And stared. "Brother. Why did you make such an aggressive being? And how is it intelligent enough to care for its own?"

I become bored of attempting to create another form of life, leaving a miniature-sized shamble of rock in the middle of a clearing. "Brethren. I'm... bored."

I glance to my brethren sculpting a new creature for the Earth. "It won't be different from these....Foolish creatures. We need intelligence.

I glance up into the eyes of my wolf companion, and I smile calmly. "In the realms of Nature...rules are woven into the beings of aggression and passion..." I murmured serenely, resting an ethereal hand on the large beast's snout. It glowed a greenish hue from the power I contained inside of my form.

I meander through the sky. "Oh, these animals must be tired of being forever bound to the ground." I decide to give them the blessing of flight. Suddenly, their front limbs grow wider, and... feathery. I am pleased with my new creation. "Bird."

I shake my head with a small frown, easily passifying the beast with a murmur. "Only a chosen race I deem worthy will be able to live peacefully with my creations." He responded, feeding a thin line of green, brown, and blue energy into the beast's pores. The wolf slowly grew until it was at least ten feet tall. It's brown fur was still an earthen brown, but there seemed to be streaks of a leafy green blossoming near it's eyes and paws. Light webbing connected it's clawed paws together as well, and long blue tresses of fur seemed to be constantly flowing backwards, through the air, as free as a breeze.

"Ōkami." I say simply, watching the now serene beast dip it's head into the grass, sniffing the dew. This would become my personal creation, and I will bless it to be like me. Immortal...

At the sound of flapping, I glance into the air, smiling at the new 'birds'.

I am happy with my new creation, but it needs... size. It is only as big as four walnuts. My ambitions extend. I grab one and make it bigger, making its feathers a golden brown, with flecks of white in between. I elongate its beak, to form a deadly hook. I enlarge its eyes, making them able to see a thousand miles away even in the depths of night. "Ee-gel."

I take a bird and make it smaller. Lighter. More graceful. "Dove." Blessing the tips of its wings are gold, eyes a bright, vibrant and glowing yellow. "Sol." This would be my method of going down to Earth. I can speak with its mouth, see with its eyes,

This, would be the image creatures have of me and I shall punish whoever tries to strike it down.

As I stare into Ōkami's eyes, I feel my form change and grow...until I was it. I was Ōkami. My dark green eyes widen slightly, and I stare into the sky, willing myself to change back into my soul form. It happened seamlessly, although Ōkami was now gone. I do know that it is now a part of me, however...I am Ōkami.

"Brethren, I know my name." I smile.

"I am Sol." Like my Brethrens avatar, I have a means to view Earth from the inside. Sol was absorbed into me, and we became I.

My form shifted into that of Ōkami, although, now that it has completely melded with my essence, I was changed once more, growing to even larger proportions, although it seemed as if I could willingly grow smaller or larger. "Greetings, Sol." I smile, gazing upwards at my brother. "I am...Ōkami."

I am content with my 'eagles', but they are simply big birds that eat mice and turtles. I need real warriors. Especially with the... Okami that my brother has created. They pose a threat to my creations. Taking one of my eagles, I extend his body, making him taller. I make another set of talons, to act as forearms. I bless him with the power to stand up on two legs, run with four, and fly at the same time. I am delighted with my new creation. "Griffin." Hmm. A suitable avatar, to act as envoy between the void and this world.

In the ensuing excitement I felt while heading back to the little hard sphere that I didn't think to slow down until I slammed into the now life filled rock. What surprised me the most is that instead of earth that cushioned my crash, it was a substance called water. No doubt a creation of one of my siblings. As I settled down into the water I felt my essence seep out of myself, coating the bottom of the ocean in darkness and creating stars. Intrigued I inspected the stars and was pleasantly surprised to find that they were in fact....fish? They glowed like my stars but weren't, they glowed and swam and were beautiful.... well mostly.

Climbing back up to the surface I breached, a tentacled mess of void and stars. Excitedly I call out to my siblings, "Brethren come! I bring good news!" With that I dug the templates from my being and set them in a forest full of fruits and animals, waiting for my siblings to come.

I sent Sol out to Earth, looking at the various forests and trees. They were a lot bigger than when I was looking from the void. No matter. I flied high, the air that my brethren created rushing past me. My creation, the sun, was overhead.

I flew through the clouds, past some animals and wolves, until finally, I decided to go up to see my sibling, turning back to my void form. A sphere of light. "What is it, Brethren?"

After my transformation, I become my usual voidless form of green, brown, and blue intertwining mist, floating into the air and smiling down at the fruit of my labor. The thing that would become my children, in a way..."Kamis." I say simply, looking down at the two little creatures. As they grow older, their size will grow and mold, but for now...I watched as they scampered out into the land, to began breeding and creating my new species. Blessed with the power of walking on water, moving as swift as a breeze on ground and trees, and control the floral nature to a certain degree...they will do me proud.

At the sudden calling of my sibling, I float towards the sound, wanting to know what the commotion was about.

Seeing as my siblings gathered around me I introduced them to my creation. With a pride that swelled fourth visually I said, "These, my siblings, will be my greatest creation. I am not finished with them however." However now his voice deflated a bit, "I can create them, but I cannot grant them life... its outside of my realm." While it pained him slightly it was his only option. Searching into the shared knowledge they seemed to have, I turned to Okami and said, "I need your help, life is your domain and I don't know how to breath it into them." At this point I was practically begging my sibling to give life to them, they were my only hope of completing my goal. They could become my vessels of wonder.

I take shape and form, my formless spirit turning into a tall, white-feathered griffin. I take pity on my brethren, and exhale a wisp of empty air. "Imbue this with life, Okami. I will cast it into these.. templates."
