I live in a rental house in a sketchier part of town.

My neighbors are a large latino family, half of which do not speak English. They have three tiny dogs, one of which is named Paloma, which gets screamed at all the time (I've woken up at 5am to a big latino woman screaming "PALOMA! PALOMA! VENGA AQUI!!!!")

They almost always have people going in and out of their driveway, they have constant guests, and there are always at least four or five cars parked in their backyard.

This morning there were at least ten cars surrounding the house, including a huge rusted van sitting in front of my house. I was going to meet a friend for lunch, and she was going to pick me up so I went out onto the porch to wait for a few minutes before she came. When I walked out the door I saw that there was a middle-aged latino man lounging on my steps. Lounging. He was stretched out and had a mini stereo resting on his chest blasting some typical mexican music. I said "hello" and he looked up at me and said "hola," and then turned back to lounging.

wtf

I took another step and saw that there were three other men lying about in my yard, one in my flower box, one against a tree, and another stretched out on the sidewalk.

wtttfffffff

my friend arrived and was like WTF IS GOING ON and i was like I DON'T KNOW GET ME OUT OF HERE so we left and had lunch at iHop and when we came back they were gone ;-;

I think I should get a no trespassing sign or something, that shit is not ok.

Well, it's a little rude of them not to ask, but they weren't causing any harm, no? People use my doorstep for a fucking toilet not-infrequently, coming out to find some guys chilling out listening to a li'l' bit of music would be almost welcome after that

The moment you begin to tolerate minor transgressions on your property is the moment major ones begin to occur.

The next time it happens, make a fuss. If it continues to happen after that, you have a problem.

I used to have a beat up old 80' chevy custom delux long bed pickup. Not much to look at, but it was my baby.

Anyways, I went out to go get in my truck one day and seen the neighbors daughter and her dude leaning up against the hood of my truck making out. The fuck was parked right next to me.

So me being the typical angry white boy was like "What the fuck? Can't you guys move that shit over to your fucking truck? How would you like it if I was leaning up against your door making out with my girl when your mom walks up?"

Chick looked at me with an incredulous expression, and was like "Are you serious?"

At that point I just kinda scoffed, shook my head, and was like "Yeah. I'm serious."

Thought for sure I was going to wind up with some sugar in my fucking gas tank or something, but they stayed the hell away from my truck after that. I guess being taller and broader than most people down here in the south has an intimidating effect. That, or they just thought I was a crazy fucking white boy living next door to come across as hostile like that over something so simple. Either way, no one makes out on my car if I'm not invited.

In which case, a trip out to the desert is necessary.

Before we put up a fence around our rather large corner lot yard, a lot of people used to come and sit and drink. They thought it was some tiny park or something -_-

I really, really dislike people who get up in my space like that. The last apartment I lived had a shared front balcony with the rest of the complex, and a couple indian guys would come sit in our plastic chairs right in front talking loudly on their phones. I did not tolerate that nonsense.

I used to live next to a Pub before it closed down. Weekends were unbearable and I'm slightly thankful it closed before the World Cup as otherwise I don't know how I would've coped.

EDIT: What I just wrote just sounded like I was trying to show off my bad-area-peen, so suffice to say I know your pain.

Yeah, shortly after we moved here we ended up getting soundproofed glass just to be able to get some sleep. Even now it gets bad when the hotel across the road hosts parties/events on the upper floors, we can see the lights through our curtains and hear the music over the top of our TV. So yeah, I know your pain. Aside from that, I've got three pubs/bars within a 15 second walk of my front door, and live in an area informally known as the "pubic triangle" because of a trio of famous strip bars, notably the "Burke and Hare" named after the 19th Century serial killers (how tasteless can you get?). Plus, two brothels within a 30-second walk of the front door, and the clean needle exchange for druggies used to be round the corner too. The main street mine branches off was (apparently) the most dangerous street in Scotland for a long time, though the police eventually ended up cracking down on it. Hell, I used to get folk breaking into the cellar and garden to shoot up on heroin - when we moved in there were needles littering the cellar floor. It's a recipe for disaster as well as a hell of a lot of noise.

Huh.

So you guys /are/ normal over there after all.

Where I live junkies ask you for change and or a cigarette, and people who lounge in their shitty apartment verandas across our parking lot play music to any girls i'm with as we go and/or leave my house while they call me a cunt, also the shop in our street gets hassled all the fucking time by a group of young teeny boppers who think it's funny to grab and throw down the shutters and shout "I din' do' nuttin'" when that same shop worker, who works about 15 hours every fucking day decides he's not serving them.

The junkies are my favourite because they're super polite tho <3 c:

So this turned into a "I live in a shitty area" circle jerk.

Good job, guys.

My main issue is that this is an American neighborhood where we respect each other's property. When grown men start showing up in my yard and show no intention to leave or respect my property, I get a little pissy.

People don't do this on my property anymore. I have dogs. PROBLEMO SOLVED! Kaiser is 45 pounds of police dog, that can clear my six-foot concrete wall in a single jump, and clocks in over 35 mph. Blitz is a wolf. Like an actual wolf (not technically, but really).

.....of course they're friendlier than the nonexistent lovechild of Bob Saget and Mr. Rogers, But they're scary as fuck when they start howling for your blood.
