Welcome to the world. This Nation-Roleplay will be GM-Moderated by myself using a tileset to create a world map to better illustrate the world the players create and manipulate. You can pick any typical fantasy race you desire to explore this new world, claim what you will, work with others or against them. It is the beginning of the Ages and all the races are in their earliest years of development, the time is right for the more motivated of them to forge their own destiny.

Settlement Sheet:
Name:
Race:
Population:
Color:
(Represents Borders etc.)
Symbol/Flag:
(Optional)
Starting Tile:
(This is the type of environment your starting town will be on.)
Biography/FunFacts:
(Optional)

Tileset for Reference:

(Farms are considered Villages as well, the first and smallest settlement you can establish after your initial starting town. They produce agricultural products.)
(The world is randomly generated but biomes will remain consistent. So if you settle a desert town, it's likely desert tiles will surround you in all directions for at least some distance.)

(These are just the initial tiles. More will be added and more can be made. For example, a player may establish a Fort or a Mining Outpost or Trading Post etc. to a tile and I can easily illustrate that.)

Basic Rules:
* Use The Declare/Post/Turn System described below.
* Do not automatically decide the outcomes of your actions or battles. This is decided by GM via dice rolls, number generators etc.
* Do not control other players holdings without their permission.

Declare/Turn/Post System:
In order to play and post this is the basic format for things to take place in.

Declare
Post "Declare" in the OCC thread. This informs everyone that you are writing up your post. (Mid-High Casual to Low Advanced)
Post
Write your post in IC and submit it. This is where you describe actions. Use reason in describing what you can and can't do. You can use a variety of different formats for your post. Detailed bullet points describing what your settlement does for example or In-Character roleplaying to give your actions a story. This can be debated a bit before we start to clear up confusion.
Turn
Once you have posted you may not post again until the next turn. Once all or a majority of players have posted the GM will declare, write his post and submit it. It will explain what your actions have caused, world events and have an updated world map.

Now I need you guys to help me decide which format our posts should be.

Bullet Points (Example Below)
Kingdom of Narnia

Diplomacy
* Traders from the Domain Guild have returned from their trip to the Saint Kingdom with two tons of rice.
* Etc. Etc.

Military
* Archers from the Archery Guild celebrate the graduation of new Rangers to their ranks. The Second Imperial Archer Squad has been formed of from these new men and women.
* Etc. Etc.

Etc. Etc.
Bullet points can be as long and as detailed you desire.

Typical Roleplay Post:
Jacob was proud of his little town. It felt like ages since he had sat on his roof as a child and watched the two or three carts rumble away on the few dirt trails that lead off into the horizon. Now as he sat in the same spot he had as a child, with a few more years under his belt her marveled at the several dozen covered wagons that banged and creaked along the cobblestone roads, dozens of horses and even men with backpacks and satchels all leaving to find riches in the neighboring Saint Kingdom. Etc. Etc.
The post can be one long continuous one or you can have multiple posts from multiple perspective. Traders, Soldiers, Kings etc.

I'll still take input on the post-type but in the meantime the other thing I should ask is if people prefer posts being done in PM and the IC being only for Turns or posts in IC and Turns in IC. Doesn't matter too much but if anyone has any suggestions I'll hear them.

Hmm, what about a mixture of the 2? Use the 2nd method to RP, but then use the 1st at the end to summarize what happened and give more detailed orders?

We can do a mix, that works. Right how we just need another player or two. We can let others join as we go.

Name: Velarion
Race: Velarion
Population: 4,554
Color: Green
Symbol/Flag: The Velarion Flag is a white field with a green tree in its center.
Starting Tile: Forest
Biography: According to Velarion mythology, the Velarions are the children of the god, whom they named themselves after. Velarion, the god, is the Lord of Forests, Giver of Life, Guardian of Nature. As this is obvious by now, Velarions highly regard nature, to a point of worship. They do not take lives, including those of animals. Due to this, the Velarion diet is comprised of berries and plants. Velarions also do not fell trees. Instead, they make their homes high among the tree, weaved out of plants and other natural resources available to them, those that would not offend their god and beliefs. While Velarions do not kill, they are still militarily proficient. They must defend their holy forests from nonbelievers. The central military force within Velarion are the Green Wardens. The Green Wardens patrol the borders of their forests. They are experts with bows and lethal with spears. They also use long knives, which are closer to a short sword. Foreigners found merely wandering with Velarion is warned and told to turn back and leave the forests of Velarion. If they do not, they are killed on the spot, as are defilers of Velarion.

@ulsterwarrior Your no killing rule is contradictory, I would rephrase it to no hunting since it seems they have no issue killing people.

Name: Jarlheim Conglomerate

Race: Giants (Sky, Fire, Earth, and Mountain)

Population: 2,369
-209 Sky
-453 Earth
-476 Mountain
-1,231 Fire

Color: light blue

Symbol/Flag:

Starting Tile: Mountain

Biography

-Advanced society, ruled by both a high general and a elected official.
-Males of the sub species tend to be several feet smaller than the females, even being born less. On the other side they are far more adept at controlling the flow of magic.
-Army is mostly composed of women, have been called "great amazons". Both mockingly and of high respect.

-Ruled by a single ruler who as proved themselves by both being a capable warrior, strategist, and politician.
-These giants breed the fastest of the giants which is one of the causes for their more martial way of life, rather than the construction oriented mountains.
- Powerful taskmasters and great warriors, there is little they know of outside of fighting. Without the conglomerate the fire giants would have to rely on raiding for supplies.

-A form of Anarchy, there is no set government but individuals are sought after for their greater knowledge in different fields.
-While they look fearsome, earth giants are actually quite docile. They only resort to violence if there is no other way.
-Agriculture is the name of the game. Earth giants are known for their great crops and are known to tend to great "gardens" that are commonly mistaken for forests.

-The mountain giants have a somewhat complicated government. At birth a priest will look into the spirite of a babe and see what profession it is destined for. Each job is under the control of an overseer who has spent decades in their field of knowledge. When large problems come up all the overseers come together and come up with an answer.
-Are renowned across the land for their feats of smithing, crafting, and architecture. They are known for their rivalry with dwarves.
-The slowest breeding of the giants, the Mountain giants are cautious to enter wars. But if they should they supplement warriors with great constructs of war made from iron, stone, and magic.

FunFacts:
-The average height for Giants is 18 feet. With sky giants being slightly shorter and fire giants slightly taller.

-Like elves, Giants are long lived species. The oldest being almost 750 years old.

-Giants breed slowly, with the average gestation period being several years. However the mountain giants take up to decade while the fire giants only gestate for 1 and a half years.

-At one point the giants didn't agree with anything, fighting over the smallest of things. However with the event of The Cataclysm, the great fall of the giants, they all put aside their differences and put their lives on the line for each other. For the first time in history the giants have worked together in a common cause, survival.

-While it is possible for interbreeding to happen between giants, the chances are very low that any spawn will be born and if there are any then they are sterile. So while it isn't illegal or discouraged, its counter productive to the race as a whole.

-For the most part, giants are a friendly people and rarely start conflicts. However they are no push overs, they can and will put up a great fight if provoked.

-The giants all have one collective enemy, the old ones. Great beasts of elemental power said to be the founders of the giant race. However they were not a kind species and enslaved the giants, treating them as little more than cannon fodder and cattle for their meaningless wars. The influence of these creatures is still apparent in the bodies of the giants.

Go ahead and make your first posts. You can post them here in the OCC or PM them to me if you want them to be secret but it's up to you. I figure we'll keep the actual IC for just Turns and such.

We'll be doing a mix of roleplay narrative and basic bullet points describing what different sectors of your civilization are doing.

Also Dumb, your sheet is kinda.. sparse. You may need to fatten it up slightly. Also I specifically said you can't pick black as a border color.

Quick question, is magic a thing here? If so what is the extent, like, only a few have powerful stuff or is it all a little subdued.

Magic exists. Though, naturally you have to be reasonable with it's use and what you can accomplish with it. Everything goes through my filter anyway so if someone tries to get a single wizard to summon a portal to hell out of no where obviously it ain't gonna fly.

Can we all agree to start magically incompetent? That way we can have another way to make "progress" instead of technology. Meaning, we would have to search around to ancient books, wizards much like resources needed to develop new tech. Also, each book could be for different kinds of magic, so even more diversity.

Yeah, sounds good to me. As you explore too you'll find Temples and NPC villages and such and will find artifacts and so forth in them. Alternately technology can advance, like Dwarves being more inclined to use machinery for example.
