What do the Forrbidden kingdom people look like?

I was wondering if our little assortment of terrors in the woods we be able to tell if anything was happening in the castle, screams, lights, would our resident Dark Fae be able to sense the dark magic?

How far away would woods be from a camp?
Is this more of a question of "Do we want out characters to be involved with the other Kingdoms or do we want them to go on their own quest for now that may or may not co-incide with the other characters later?"
This seems to be more of a creative decision
