Ever been? I have, it's called Electroconvulsive therapy but let's face it torture by any other name still makes you piss yourself.
Normally they knock you out for the procedure but is the staff is feeling really sadistic they just numb you out enough that they don't need to fight you into the therapy bed.
Once you're strapped down. They shove a neat little rubber plug in your mouth and slip a nifty head band around your skull.
Then the fun begins as they try a forced reboot of your brain, the best description I've ever found to describe the effect is a poem

Have you ever seen a nature show where some animal is taken down by predators and while still alive disemboweled? They don't scream out most of the time, in fact they appear numb to the final process.
