Corruption and Oppression - Attack on Titan OOC
For a century, humanity has been confined inside these mysterious walls; Wall Maria, Wall Rose and Wall Sina. Outside of the outermost wall are the titans, mysterious monsters that appeared out of nowhere over a hundred years ago and devoured most of humanity. Those who ventured out to fight them had little to no success as these giants were seemingly impossible to kill. Even if their heads were sent flying, they would regrow their bodies. These three walls have protected the remnants of the surviving humans. The rich hid in the innermost walls where it was safe and the strong either cowered with them or perished outside the walls, fighting. After several years inside, a young mechanic by the name of Angel Aaltonen invented a device that would allow humans to move around easily and go up high to battle the titans instead of being stuck on the ground, getting squished. This device is currently used by the military, which has three different branches.

Titans
Titans are humanoid giants, their height ranging from 3 meters all the way to 15 meters. The sole purpose of their existence is seemingly to devour people. They, however, do not need to eat to survive. They simply devour the people and then spit them back out, which is why they’ve been able to survive so long without any source of food. They survive thanks to the light provided by the sun and are rendered immobile during the nights. They devoured most of humanity before the remaining survivors found the walls and hid behind them.

Military Factions
Military Police - This is the faction that everyone tries to get into. From each training regiment, they accept the top 10 soldiers. They operate mostly in the inner walls where it’s safe from the titans.
Scouting Legion - This is the faction with the least amount of people because they venture outside of the walls where the titans are. It’s composed of the best of the best, people who eventually become elite warriors and amazing survivors. However, more than half of the people who join the Scouting Legion die before completing their fifth years. Its members are usually quite bizarre people.
Garrison - These soldiers are stationed on the walls, in case of an attack. They’re mostly people who try to get in to the Military Police but fail and don’t want to risk their necks outside the walls.

You will join the training corps to perhaps reclaim the world for humanity and join the Scouting Legion or aim for the Military Police. Even if you were aiming for the Garrison, things won’t go as smoothly as you think they will.

Personality - Joseph is a really distant and cold boy. He doesn't trust people too easily and until he does, he doesn't show any warmth towards that person. He's uncannily intelligent and manipulative as well. These traits are all earned from his experience outside of the Stohess District, during the time he was trying to get to Trost.
Backstory - Joseph was born and raised in the Stohess District with a rich family. His mother and father were quite distant to him. He would only see them on the dinner table and as they left the house. He used to think he was better than everyone else when he was around the age of 10. After that point, he was able to rationalize that his parents were the low-lives stealing from the poor. He used to read books from his father's library where there were books that had no mention of titans or the walls in them. They were all about adventurers travelling the world or the oppression of the rich. These books created an insatiable will to leave the walls and see the world. He started planning his escape and training his body.
At the age of 14, he bought a pair of 3DMG from the blackmarket from the Military Police, even if the act disgusted him. With his family usually gone, he was able to get accustomed to at least moving slowly, which would be all he would need to get over the wall. He trained in the vast garden of his house, getting better quite quickly. In the end of the next two months, he was able to move around easily. The day he turned 15, his parents had given him some money, with which he’d run away that night. He scaled the wall with the 3DMG at night. He rented a carriage and started moving towards Trost, though he faced some challenges he hadn’t expected…

Personality: I usually stay by myself because I don't want people to get the wrong idea when I talk to them. I don't know what happiness feels like, I don't know what sorrow feels like I know what they are but I just cant feel them. when people talk to me and my face doesn't change they usually don't understand why and just beat me saying that I don't care about anything but in reality I just cant
Backstory: complete orphan from wall maria. because of my alexithymia I didn't grow up with many friends except my pet dog that followed me around and a really nice old couple, I was born miserable and I kept being told I was going to die miserably but not able to understand feelings I tried to ignore it all while I walked around the district looking for whatever food I could get it was a good thing I couldn't understand what misery or depression was like I would have killed myself long ago. I could always hear about garrison regiments talking about how easy their job was and I even saw some scout regiment soldiers coming home bloody and near death I couldn't help but feel something dark in my body, I think it was hatred it was such a horrible feeling, the feeling although it only lasted a few short seconds I felt like it was telling me to do something. so I went into wall rose and I wanted to join them, I guess they would call me a fighter but I guess my condition came in handy....cause I couldn't understand fear

Personality:
Jay Ahn is driven by the desire to achieve. Many of his decisions will be influenced either on the opportunity to improve or to prove (to himself) his skills. He is an excitable guy and it doesn't take much to get him charged up. He thinks most things will turn out okay and he tries to see the best in people. He's trustworthy and puts in his fair share of the work. In battle he is daring and a bit reckless. The greater the challenge, the more excited he gets. He is passionate and likes to talk about pretty much anything that involves going outside the walls.

Backstory:

Both he and Noelle were born and raised in the Shiganshina district. They were a pretty average family of four, except for the fact that their mother was in the Scouting Legion. With their mother spending most of her time outside the walls, their father took all of his time raising his two children. Of course, with the mother being part of the Scouting Legion, she took it to her hands to give Jay and Noelle a chance to try her 3DMG. Her reasoning was that she "wanted her children to be able to go outside the walls." That, was the beginning of the many fights between the parents. Despite the fact that the father disapproved the usage of 3DMG, Jay saw it as an opportunity to become great like his mother. He also saw the chance to be able to go see the outside world, just like his fantasies. Noelle just did whatever her brother did, promising her father that she would protect Jay. By the time the Jay was 15 and Noelle was 14, both were able to use 3DMG without slamming into a wall.

A few months after that, the mother went out on an expedition and never returned. Since then, it has been Jay's dream to join the Scouting Legion to see the outside world.

[Subject to change] Noelle sees the world (in her case, inside walls) as a fun place. She is not naive, but rather chooses to see the humor in things. Although (sometimes) trustworthy, she is very dependable. When not serious, she is flighty and easily distracted. While she isn't as reckless as her brother, Noelle is no coward. I'm sorry. I just want this to be a proper thing with correct grammar at least. I hope we can RP on a different thread at one point. This was a hard decision for me to make, to deny a CS for the reason I had, but it's just not something you could correct immediately.

Personality: Free Spirited, Loyal, Teasing, Perceptive
Backstory:
Scarlet was one of the lucky ones. Being born into a wealthy family left her with food, safety, and comfort most other’s only dreamed of. However, she was the middle of three children. Her older brother was, in her mind, labeled the inheritor. He was the perfect son in the eyes of his parents, but when they weren’t looking he was blunt, rude, and would insult his younger siblings regularly. Scarlet did her best to help her younger sister through such comments and the following beatings he would commit with his other friends. Her younger sister had the peace of mind from still being loved by their parents. Scarlet on the other hand was the unnoticed child by them. She didn’t offer innocence of the youngest child, nor did she have the inheriting power of the eldest.

It didn’t help that Scarlet liked to escape. She would make friends with street rats and those barely getting by as it is. The kind of people ‘unbecoming’ of her family as he parents put it. At the same time she would speak out of turn if she disagreed with something, and if she found a guest of the house rude she would call them out. Leaving her in the position of providing nothing of worth to her family’s status they desperately wished to hold onto. Even her father beat her at times when he might fall into a drunken stupor.

This all led to her running away a year ago when her younger sister died to a disease. Nothing was left for her to be in the family. Without her sister she wouldn’t wait around to be married off for her families gain as that was the only use her parents saw of her. Hanging out with a friend on the streets she learned how to survive on her own. Survival lead to her finding out the struggles of most people in the city. Watching them work so hard for the food that is available whilst watching members of the military be sent out of the gates only to return in what seems like shame. Most people had no hope, but Scarlet felt determined to bring it back. Inspired by their choice to fight for freedom she wished to join the Survey Corps. They were a place where she can leave the confine of the walls and of her life and bring out a new path.

Name: Viktor R. Smisse
Age: 38
Nationality: Russian/French
Personality: Viktor is a strong and jovial man. He's understanding and supportive of his peers and friends, always giving advice and positive feedback. Viktor has a very radiant demeanor but he is rather broken inside, so he's very sensitive to words. He has a Big brother/Father complex, this is to help cope with his past, trying to make propel see the positive side of life.
Backstory: Born and raised in in the Trost district, Viktor lived as the middle child with his parents and two siblings. He was a young boy working with his father in the family bakery, his brother at the time was still in the trainee corps and his younger sister was a mere toddler. A few years later when Viktor became 15, news of his brother's death during an expedition devastated his family. His father went into a deep depression and his mother went missing, never to be seen again. He adored his sister, so he didn't mind being the only one to take care of her. He worked twice as hard to keep his broken family afloat, becoming an excellent baker, but even that wasn't enough, because his father had taken up the habit of drinking. Viktor's father wasn't a violent drunk, but alcohol was what he spent all of Viktor's earnings on. Viktor decided to take drastic measures and enlist into the military to increase the family income, in order to give his sister a better life. Two years in training, Viktor was listed 10th in the top ten of his squad. He chose to join the Survey Legion due to the second higher pay of the three corps (He refused the Military Police because he wouldn't be able to take his sister r father with him). Viktor was a great soldier and was most liked among his peers. However during a recon mission, an unexpected attack by a rogue herd of titans wiped out 95 percent of his regiment. With tails between their legs, what remained of him and his squad returned to the wall.
At that time, Viktor had only been sending money to his family, and hadn't been able to visit for over 6 years. Taking this chance of a temporary hiatus from the military, he set off to see his beloved sister again. When he arrived to his old home, Viktor was greeted by his father who told him that his sister was married off to pay his debts. Viktor was in such shock that he immediately left without another word.
For a month he searched for his sister, until he found out she was with a nobel in the Yackrel district. He would never be able to see her again.
Soon after his tragic discovery, Viktor was asked to be a supervisor in the Trainee Corps. And today, he's keeping a watchful eye on the new recruits.

Personality he is very ambitious and cowardly,he is kinda weak but he will stand up to himself if necessary, he is a selfish person and sometimes a bit of a hipster,he desperately wants to join the military police and will do anything to get in even if it means standing up to 20 titans or so,theres not much else to say about him except that he is scared of the outside world and titans the only real reason he is trying to get in to the military police is so he can have a great safe life of luxury and safety,he is also extremely angry towards his father and mother and hates practically everyone that likes them,he is also greedy too due to the fact that he spent a month as a homeless person

Backstory matthew wilson had a regular life in shigan district untill his father left him to join the scouts and then to add insult to injury his mother left matthew to find his father and she never returned,his only friend was a girl named jane who then left him to join the scouts too [wow everyone wants to join them] so he spent 1 month running around in alleys robbing people and eating whatever he can find until day he tried to find out what the world was like on the outside and snuck out of the walls and actually had a good time! until of course he ran into a titan which picked him up and attempted to eat him however lucky him a scout manages to kill the titan and helped him get back into shiganshina,he was scarred by life from the encounter and decided that he should find a way to join the military police so he could escape homelessness and be as safe as he can possiblely be
