The students gather in the meeting hall of Grey Haven, a school and retreat for witches. Dinner tables lined the room, seemed to be more than enough for everyone in the room. One could suppose that there were so many for guests, should any come.

“Greetings, new students! Welcome to Grey Haven!” A woman with short cut hair in a red and white outfit said. Her voice roared greatly as she spoke, as if with a megaphone, though she lacked one in her hands. “My name is Lyrica, and I am one of your teachers during your stay here.” She took a bow and continued, “Now, let us introduce the other teachers here, if you could stand when I call your names. . .”

She started naming teachers, “Relica Tombsword” A woman with long, silky black hair stood and smiled showing off her overly red lips. She was someone who obviously enjoyed makeup. “Juliana Smith” Next a woman that seemed as plain as her last name suggested stood. The biggest defining feature she had was her light-colored hair pulled to a ponytail on the right side of her head.

Lyrica went through the other faculty members, leaving out who did what subject or magic type. She then came to the final two she would introduce before sitting herself. “Now then. With the teachers all introduced, I would be pleased to introduce the Headmistress of Grey Haven, Lady Lysandra and her assistant, June Daze.” A girl walked up to where Lyrica was and switched spots with her. She was also followed by the other woman, June Daze. . . Someone that was already acquainted with a student.

Lysandra looked not much older than twelve, but no older than fifteen. “Greetings, pupils. I am indeed very pleased to see you all accompany me on this journey of teaching you all what I believe you need to know.” She put a finger and made sure all eyes were on her before poofing a small ball of fire into existence over it. “I’ve come to understand some of you might be more skeptical than others,” she said, casting a single eye on a specific person. “Now then, I think everyone might be hungry. . .” She snapped a finger and an army of dolls opened the doors to the room and marched in. The ones not holding plates of food were helping set tables or cutely try to assist their comrades in getting the plates to the table.

To, perhaps, everyones’ surprise, the plates contained their favorite foods when it reached them. Ophelia was delightfully happy about that too, “I may be in a strange place where dolls can move on their own, but at least the food’s good!” She was a simple girl after all. After the first bite of her food, she noticed the teachers moving into their own groups in the number of tables out in the room and the headmistress and the other woman with her walking down to the students’ table.

“Greetings again.” She made a slight smile at the students and looked out to the dolls scurrying about. “Cute ain’t they? That’s an example of what you all might be capable of. I’m off for now.” She started to walk off but turned around to June, “I’ve got nothing else to ask of you now, June. Do what you will for the rest of the day. We got a whole day ahead of us tomorrow.”

Ophelia watched as the Headmistress walked off yawning with her mouth covered. She then looked to her fellow students and said, “Well, I’m excited for this up coming year now. It would be cool to have so many little dolls at my command!” She stuffed her face afterword happily.

Minori rubbed her hands together as she stared at the headmistress, she didn't look any older than her, and Minori was pretty young being at the gentle and somewhat innocent age of 13. Minori then looked around herself, staring at the other students for no more than one second, they all look a bit scary, even the ones who had a smile on their face, all of them, scary.

Minori looked down at the plate in front of her, a bowl sitting on top of the plate, a bowl full of her favorite food: Soba Noodles. Minori hadn't the slightest idea how they knew her favorite food, nor did she want to question it. Her stomach was rumbling, and an empty stomach wouldn't help her meet new people; of course, that's implying she wanted to meet new people, and while she did, she was too shy to walk up to any of them and say "Hello."

Minori's blank expression faltered to a slight frown before she picked up the chop sticks.

Kazuki let out a long sigh as the opening ceremony and staff introduction commenced.

While she did find the teachers that stepped up relatively interesting, her attention- along with her care for detail- was wandering around the quaking catacombs of her nervous heart. In no way did she looked the part of a nervous first year, but her unfocused eyes and slightly flushed cheeks leaked out quiet whispers to anyone who was sharp enough to pick them up.

All in all, Genkou Kazuki was absolutely terrified.

She let out another sigh attempting to relieve herself of the heavy feeling of nervousness that burdened her heart.

"I-If only..." she muttered silently under her breath, her dark violet bangs doing their best to hide her face as she hung her head, "I-If only Pa Pa was here."

At those words, Kazuki felt her whole body quiver in shame and dejection. H-How shameless she was! Placing her cool hands on either one of her glowing cheeks, Kazuki let out a soft whimper. It was abnormal for a girl her age to be clinging on so tightly to her father! N-Not to mention it was none of her business what he was up to or how he took care of himself!

Suddenly, the thought of her father eating another woman's cooking made her heart sink.

Then, before she knew it, the young Headmistress and her beautiful assistant had already come and gone off stage. Then the dolls arrived and began to scurry around in a flustered but organized manner. Finding herself with a sizzling pound and a half of sirloin before her, Kazuki swallowed nervously.

H-How could anyone possible eat in such a situation...

Looking to her left she found a girl muttering something shyly in Japanese and a plate of plain onigiris. It was an adorable and somewhat peaceful image.

...to her right there was a hamburger and her brunette owner.

...and the across from her was a plate of sushi and bowl of maple syrup ice-cream.

They were all rather unique choices...but perhaps they were all served to make the girls feel more at home.

Raising her knife, the bespectacled girl cut slowly and gracefully into the rare piece of meat before starting to dine under the beautiful glow of the loud and bustling dining hall.

"E-eh?!"

Eva Marlow took a closer look at the headmistress, disbelief in her eyes. Why, the headmistress looked just about her age! However, if she was able to conjure that flame of ball and have an army of dolls do her bidding, Eva would respect her. After all, she wanted to be able to do that in the future. She glanced at the other students around her. They looked awfully young, and Eva could just smell the nervousness in the air.

When she looked down at the table, she was faced with her favorite food, sushi. Fresh and perfectly aligned with a small bowl of soy sauce and a small ball of wasabi on the side. Perfect. Drooling, the girl picked up the chopsticks that was laid out in front of her, snapping it apart before plucking a fatty tuna roll from its place. "Mmmm." With that, the sushi slowly disappeared into her ever-hungry mouth one by one. "Kya! So good!" she squealed as she chewed. Now that her tummy was somewhat satiated, it was time to get down to the social stuff.

"Hey ya'll! I'm Eva. Eva Marlow. It's nice to meetcha!" she loudly said before stuffing a California roll into her mouth.

June Daze probably would have been a little more cheery, if it wasn't for the fact that she had spent last night unable to sleep. Being a Mahora Academy graduate would have already made her accustom to long stretches without proper sleep, but that night was special. That night was the night in which she learned that her younger sister-in-law was going to enroll in Gray Haven, and that she had been inflicted by quite an interesting curse.

Oh, the joys of finally being able to show her what she really did for a living~

The former Satan-worshipping witch was so overjoyed that she had spent the entirety of the night running laps around the school track, trying to rid herself of all the excited energy that was bouncing inside her. She was pretty sure that she had blanked out after the first five hours of her nighttime run, but hey, in the morning, her legs were still intact, and she felt just a little calmer than she was before.

As the day went on though, she could definitely feel herself nodding off during the whole inauguration of the new students. Her legs were dying too, and if it wasn't for how braindead she felt, the secretary-enforcer-assistant would have most definitely tried to magic those workout aches away.

Thankfully, the headmistress wasn't one for obscenely long speeches, and even gave June a chance to go off and do nothing. So that's what she went to do.

Sit in a corner and do nothing, because even Lyrica couldn't magically summon food that was as marvellous as hubby's.
~
Ah, Chrys wanted to die. She wanted to crawl into a hole and just die. She didn't want to wear that oversized witch's hat that her grandpa slapped on her head, but she also didn't want to stick out like a sore thumb when she took that hat off.

Pulling the wide brim of the black hat over her eyes, and hoping that it wouldn't make her too odd amongst the other 'first years' of this magical academy for fledging magic people, she considered getting a wig in the future. Dying her hair had no effect, other than the effect on her wallet, and going through the school year with hair that shone like a flashlight...well, Chrys liked to be in the center of attention, but even this was a bit too much for her.

Heck, even though her furtive glances towards her classmates had confirmed that at least a few of them were also sporting odd shades of hair color (seriously, what sort of person decided that it was fashionably sound to have pink-and-brown hair, split right in the middle), there was no doubt in her mind that she had the most 'unique' shade.

If 'sparkling diamond rainbow' was a shade at all.

Shuffling through the crowd that was settling down for a free dinner, the tomboy sought to make a stealthy, quick escape before anyone could notice.

And while she was a rather stealthy person...well, no one explicitly told her that dolls were going to be scampering around on the floor.

She registered the motion of her stumbling, and tripping over just in time so that she had enough time to pull the entirety of that over-sized hat over her head.
