mecha rp?

Gauging interest on a possibly free form mecha rp? Not really any more details at this time, but I'd be okay with anime/Pacific rim/mech warrior influences. Titan fall. You know, piloted robots, and such.

Possible scenarios could be several counties at war, private military contractors use mechs and have become powerful forces, or that aliens are invading or something.

Cool. If more people showed interest, we could possibly all be on the same team i guess, fighting npcs, or some of us are for opposite counties. Not sure how that'd play out yet. I didn't really put a lot of thought into this yet, since there hasn't been much interest. If it generates more, i'll try to come up with something, but expect a free form sorta setting, with a broad, fairly generic background.

I hadn't decided a setting yet, but I like the idea of a near future earth, or earth knock off. Possibly a frontier colony. Our characters could be settlers who build their own mechs and then explore, defend their home steads, combat each other. Maybe alien contact. Each pilot builds/ buys their own mechs which allows people to have various ones from various styles. If your character is part of a gang, maybe you'd pick a mechwarrior style. Boy genius might pick megas xlr. I'd say size cap on three or four stories, but we can go down to ten more realistically. They'd all be single piloted. That's my General idea

Near future mech sounds fun. I'm in as long as the mechs are realistic and not super gundam robot earth destroyers fueled by love and unobtainium

I think we could scratch the alien contact, make the whole thing human conflict. Instead of interstellar, we could compress the setting within our own solar system. The conflict could be a resource/territory war, the catalyst being become uncontrollable population growth. Earth would be the gemmed resource source but it's a constant battlefield. Another conflict could be that not all civilians were relocated out of Earth, making a rebels quiet prevalent. Other planets and moons were terraformed but still lacking great amount of resources; barely any fighting, mostly riots and small skirmishes but no full out war. Political seats are probably found in Mars, colonies in many various other location. Mining colony in Mercury (Solar Power), Europa (Water), Titan (Fuel), etc..

Just something out off the top of my head.

I'm interested, I always love mechas. As for realism, I think the most realistic size would be something out of armored core? I've been playing ACVD a lot, and the mecha sizes seem close to the Kuratas robot, an actual "mecha"

Really depends on the realism the RP is aiming for. Honestly I prefer the designs of Titanfall.

I'm interested. For realism i would prefer it pretty realistic but not with so much that it starts to hinder the story ect.

Pacific Rim robots are cool, but it depends.

If we aren't going to have huge robots like that, then whatever.

I like the ideas you have and I absolutely love the titanfall style of mechs, I just want the mechs to be more permanent though, not throw away like they are titan fall, give them a reason to be around, give the mechs as much development as the pilot driving them.

Totally Agree. It's gives a lot of opportunities for character development and bad-ass-ness

I'd be down for this. Human vs. human is good, human vs. monsters works too (I haven't had too much experience in the latter beyond Pacific Rim).

If anyone knows about the Assault Suits Leynos/Valkien series, I'd definitely be up for that style and premise.

I don't know man. I always find gondamn-esque/Japanese Mechs kinda over the top. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the anime franchise but maaaan Western Mechs gotta have more attention. Anyways, if we're gearing towards Jap-Mech then I'm a big fan of Vision of Escaflowne (suit me, I'm an oldie) and/or Break Blade, especially Break Blade.

Um... Is this directed at my suggestion? The Assaults Suits series actually fits the bill of Western mecha pretty well, if you ask me. It sizes up mechs to be six-story tall humanoid Assault Suits with relatively plain designs, when compared to the outrageous sizes and adornments of Japanese mecha.

It also has jetpacks, space battles, and fighting plenty a share of ships and machines that can end up being far larger than your Assault Suit, so that's plenty fun, too.

Yeah it was. I searched it up and I wasn't feeling it. Then again everybody is entitled to their own taste, was just hoping for mechs with little to no resemblance to humans, so I was leaning towards Titanfall and Mechwarrior designs. Either ways, asides from the mechs, this idea got interested cause there is the possibility for a political drama.
