“Preparation time” works both ways. Only, preparation time is more efficient for a bunch if people than it is for just one person, right? They benefit way more from both sides just biding their time.

I'd normally agree, but your opponents have enough resources that time isn't their bottleneck. You, on the other hand... Well, there's only so much one person can do, no matter how many talents they happen to have.
