It is far more efficient in terms of magic power. Rather than actually changing the colour, temperature, phase of matter, softness, etcetera, you're convincing reality to do it for you.

I mean, it's called "Magic" for a reason. The Orange Magic is, dare I say it, "just another magic". But it is extremely versatile, useful, and efficient.
