Or even the circumstance. Of many societies depending on death like that.
It's an important component of many cycles.

<Snipped quote by Audacious>
It's an important component of many cycles.
<Snipped quote by Fractured>
I wonder how a society with access to immortality would react to the idea.
<Snipped quote by Audacious>
Some fail, some adapt. There are many factors.
<Snipped quote by Fractured>
I just can’t imagine crowd reactions when you’re given the idea that immortality is real and attainable, but they can’t have it for the greater good.
<Snipped quote by Audacious>
Which is also why dimensional resets can be helpful.
<Snipped quote by Fractured>
Is that part of what you look for when you do your Tier Fiving?
<Snipped quote by Audacious>
We will generally not resort to resets unless a dimension has destroyed itself. Our principle is to operate hands-off.
<Snipped quote by Fractured>
But you do have to get them dirty from time to time, surely. Existence is a big place.
<Snipped quote by Audacious>
Of course. But our mission is dimensional independence, so our typical job is preventing Tier Fours from disrupting that. We ensure dimensions have the ability to succeed or fail on their own merits.
<Snipped quote by Fractured>
Sounds like we’ve got a few friends in direct competition with that goal of independence.
<Snipped quote by Audacious>
We have some degree of tolerance, particularly if there is research interest. But consider this: If large swaths of Existence are dependent on one organization and that fails, every dimension that would have otherwise succeeded is also ended.
<Snipped quote by Fractured>
What research could you need to do on places like them, for as long as your organization has been around? I can’t imagine there’s any more to learn that you don’t already know.
<Snipped quote by Audacious>
In some cases, experiments with unethical origins that our ethics board would reject.
<Snipped quote by Fractured>
Ah, so it’s a morality thing.
<Snipped quote by Audacious>
In some cases. It would be a shame to waste valuable data, even if it was sourced via unsavorable means.
<Snipped quote by Fractured>
I guess you guys never really advertised yourselves as Existence’s Knights in Shining Armor. I would just prefer to end the unsavory actions then and there.
<Snipped quote by Audacious>
Not all experiments that began unethically maintain unethical condition. We won't make exception for the sole purpose of allowing groups to perform unethical tests because that would at best be a proxy for us performing those experiments. As to your first point, however, Tier Five decided long ago that it did not exist as a hero organization. Various members may do as they wish, but our purpose is to protect dimensions, not individuals.
<Snipped quote by Fractured>
How do you motivate yourself behind that cause, as opposed to conventional big strong good guy work?
<Snipped quote by Audacious>
Pardon me?
