*Starts back on the path again*
Is offworld activity common for your universe? I didn’t think it was but this is just something else.

Eh? Oh, yeah, it never really came up. There are some foreign cyber worlds out there, but nothing biological. Seems that in the expanse of the universe, digital is the norm.

So it’s not even digital colonization, but digital aliens?
*Shakes my head as I wrap my head around it*
That’s unheard of.

Yep. No telling what would have happened if humans never made the cyber world. Or what they really tapped into.
*Kicks a stone off the virtual path and watches it fall into the endless void, but then smiles*
With everything you’ve seen, I’m glad something about our world surprised you.

I guess I don’t have a good metric for variation in universes. Like, I grew up in a rural country house, then we left as my dad reintegrated back into the IA but I just kind of stayed out of it. The average place I know is either super into the future compared to here, or not pretty well behind. And especially no cyber worlds in any of them quite like yours that exist in tandem with the physical one.

With the kind of interplay between the two worlds, I don’t think you’d have to stretch to convince someone that they’re more like two parallel dimensions. The real question is: are humans the guests? Or are we?

I don’t like looking at it from one sided options like that. Two kinds of beings, from two worlds that share a bond, living side by side. They’re different, but that doesn’t make one a “guest” and one not, you know what I mean?

That said, I think we’re both guests here.

You know...
*Looks up at the starry backdrop, filled with nebulas and galaxies*
I’ll give you that one. It may also go without saying, but the bandwidth here is awful.

We took our trip just a little bit off the trodden path, so I get it.

Right. Since I should probably bring it up sooner than later, I can only load like five chips right now. So we should really avoid fighting anything all that crazy while we can.

I hope whatever’s out here in a place like this would prefer diplomacy anyway.

I doubt the viruses will. They’re always aggressive by default.

I'd usually say to not worry about falling off... but I can't prove that's the case here.

Lot of endless voids in cyber space, that’s for sure.

Great idea! When all this is over, I need to take you to a procedural server.

Even more voids?

Better, no voids at all. You've been to our house, you remember how it can change terrains and landscapes? That's thanks to the magic of algorithmically building landscapes instead of mapping them to network features.
