If it was destroyed back in that time, then no matter what, it's going to be destroyed back in that time, whether it be because of what we did or for some other reason. Unless whoever's the Guardian of Time at that particular moment is being particularly lenient, if history says the Final Shard is destroyed, it's destroyed.
(unless of course history just thinks it's destroyed and it's actually not destroyed because we took it back, but then that has a whole other string of discrepancies maybe unless I'm doing my logic wrong)
This is where my old concept of time having a timeline would have been useful. Granted, I just remembered it and forgot all about the details.
