So the way I did the randomization was:
To see if a named char was dark: random number from zero to five with each entrant getting a number, the number got was none of them.
To see if dark died: start with 1000, then 500 random numbers, then so on smaller number of numbers randomly gotten with 37 being dark, and it never came up as a number.
