Keep in mind this isn't a happy story, and the character will be going through a lot of crap.
Ok, so in a dimension parallel to the archie comics sonic universe, the main cast of the sonic universe along with any mythological beings and items don't exist. (villains included.) That said, tales and legends of such things do exist within the societies of commingling mobians and humans on some the planets that they have colonized. There are some minor conflicts between the two species from time to time, but nothing too serious. Because of this major locations like cities and large towns are now called zones. And within the Ruined Zone, a dumping ground built upon the wreck of a civilization's ancestral city, the Sunshot Orphanage existed. It was a horrible place where the orphans were severely neglected due to how the funds were improperly spent by the manager, who only used a portion of it to buy supplies, fund the staff, and bribe the inspectors, spending the rest selfishly. Because of this, the orphans organized into groups to increase their chances of securing resources.
The story itself centers around the orphan Arris, who discovered her ability to manipulate marks at the age of 7. Having an ability/power was highly uncommon in this world and as such any group that had someone like that would instantly become targeted by all others due to how dangerous that group could be. As such, arris is forcefully kicked out of her group and left to fend for herself. She spends most of her time getting used to her situation while coming to terms with how her newfound ability has isolated her.
And that's only the basic plot of the first half of the story. I'm still thinking up the second half alongside some of the characters for the first half.
