Bleh. Chores aren't fun. Reading, depends on the text.
Yeah. I shudder to think of that Metamorphosis book you read.

Oh, just wait until you hear about Clarice Lispector's short stories that we had to read.
whizzball1 said
Tell me.

Just read "Smallest Woman in the World."

*splutters*
Etcetera said
I know, right?
whizzball1 said
That is absolutely terrible writing. That doesn't exemplify a single aspect in literature. The whole point of a literature class is to help you understand how good stories are written. Structure, tone, theme, etcetera. I can't even describe what I just read.
Etcetera said
It's supposed to be an "allusion."
whizzball1 said
It's definitely not an allusion to anything. Poems are better for that, anyway.
Etcetera said
Agreed. We had to read five of her stories.
whizzball1 said
*shudders* I'm sorry for you.
Etcetera said
I appreciate it. At least we're going to Poe soon.
whizzball1 said
Ooh. Although there's the rather prominent chance that your somewhat incompetent teacher will probably try to point out everything but the best literature aspect that could be learned in each of his poems.
Etcetera said
Haha, entirely on the dot. She wants us to read it for vocabulary instead of for content. Vocabulary that isn't even hard.

...IT'S EDGAR ALLEN POE. THERE ARE SO MUCH BETTER THINGS THAN TO LEARN FROM HIM.
Etcetera said
You feel so strongly about this that you made a grammar error.
whizzball1 said
Much wasn't applying to things. If it were, that would be an error. It's applying to better. Much better. Many better would be silly. =P
Etcetera said
Then you need to get rid of so, or add many before better. =P
whizzball1 said
So modifies much and is both grammatically and semantically correct. =P It's enhancing the muchness of the betterness of the things.
