If it makes you feel any better, I've heard quite a few rumors that Clara will be leaving the show during this year's Christmas special.

On a related note: I'm really starting to wish we'd have more unexpected companion departures like in Classic Who. Back then, a companion could leave during the middle of the season and, given the timing, you wouldn't see it coming from a mile away. It also kept the season finales and specials from being the most memorable/important. Now, if we know that a season finale or other important special is coming up, we just expect that something crazy is about to go down - and it's the only time we could ever possibly expect that a companion could leave or that the Doctor could regenerate. ...Granted, it's kind of impossible to make a regeneration unexpected in this day and age due to the internet and all that. And I bet even back then people still knew when a regeneration would happen. But still. Did you know at least one regeneration happened mid-season? Just an interesting thought.

But yeah, I feel like Clara doesn't quite have the same spark about her that she used to have. In season 7.2 I found all the mystery about her rather intriguing, but now that that's over... yeah, she's just not as entertaining as other companions. I can't say I really dislike her, though, and I feel like a lot of her slip-ups in this seasons so far are kind of understandable mistakes. I just feel kind of... neutral to her.

Although I'm definitely looking forward to what could happen in the future with Danny and, even moreso, Courtney. o.o

I've heard it too, which makes me very happy.

I just think she's taken several steps backward. And now there's weird flirting with 12 and Clara even though it was said there wouldn't be any of that. I know it's not outright flirting per say but the fact that he denied any romantic feelings in episode one (of this series) and now gets in the way of her dates, is confusing for me as a viewer. I'd understand him being protective like a friend or father (ehhhh) but his jealousy seems odd. Not to mention you'd think he'd make the connection with Pink, as well as figure out where she went during Listen in both instances. I did like him being more firm with her, not letting her stick around in dangerous situations but...she's getting in the way of me enjoying 12 I think. And to have someone dress like 11 in the recent episode was kind of stupid and hurts me since I'm enjoying 12 so much, I don't need to be reminded of previous regenerations so soon...

Uhhhhh.... Twelve is not flirting with Clara. At all. :/ He's being protective of her, sure, but the Doctor has always been protective of his companions. ...Cuz they're his companions.

As for not picking up on Pink, Twelve is just a little bit oblivious when it comes to such matters. That's all. Which is one of the reasons why I like watching him, actually. He even assumed that the guy dressed like Eleven was her boyfriend just because he looked like Eleven. Which was kind of amusing.

But yeah... there's no flirting going on between Twelve and Clara. Not sure where you got that idea.

Edit: Hell, he spent most of The Caretaker being a nuisance to her, and messing with Pink because he didn't approve of him being a soldier. That's not flirting.

Edit2: And he isn't getting in the way of her dates, either. Just... taking her on adventures like he normally would. He's even bothering to bring her back in time for her dates. Which is more than most Doctors would've done!

I'm taking into consideration his quip at the end of Time Heist (since I marathoned all the episodes, I might be inferring things differently) when he mentioned that robbing a bank would be better than any date she'd go on. I can't remember the line but I think that's what was implied when she left to go catch Pink at 7:30.

I think "flirt" isn't the right word to describe the odd relationship between Clara and 12...but it's weird and forced and keeps changing. One minute she's mad that 12 doesn't visit for nearly two weeks, the next minute she ditches 12 to focus on her life, the next minute she's upset that he wants to do something without her, it just seems weird and inconsistent.

I understand 12 not liking Pink, he never was a fan of soldiers though, I thought that was one of his 'things'. The saving grace of the episode was Pink understanding where 12 was coming from at the end, otherwise there would cue another pointless triangle of jealousy and trust issues...

Really none of that sounds like a weird relationship to me. It just sounds like... basic companionship. She was mildly annoyed that Twelve didn't visit in two weeks because - who wouldn't be? At least given how often they usually hang out. And, I never noticed at any point that she really "ditched" Twelve. She just wanted to go on a few dates. And when was she upset that he wanted to do something without her? That I don't remember at all.

I sent a group PM to the two slackers, it's usually them we're waiting which is a troubling sign. I'd rather hash any concerns or RL situations with them though they haven't been on in about 3 weeks...which prompts me to go fishing for new players again but integrating them is going to be a bit of a hiccup for say, the people who are actually active and have to accommodate a sudden change.

How many people would we have left if those two left permanently?

It would be a 1x1x1, which would make me either allow aliens early (as in during our current chapter). Or I would need to shuffle us all the way back to freakin' NYC to maybe pick up any newbies and then we'd do intros while on our way to the scavenger hunt locations. I know it's a busy time for people but stopping by to let people know who are counting/waiting on you shouldn't be asking a lot. I want them to stick around but be more active but right now I need to know what's going on with them...

Well, personally, I don't mind a 1x1x1 too much. It would be fine with me if we just stuck with this small group until the next opportunity to bring in new players arrives. It kind of feels like trying to drag in new players from NYC now would be a hassle to deal with and it might just slow us down even more. :/

But that's just my opinion. You're the boss, after all.
