Characters and Species Sheets thread

This will be a sci fi, adventure, action RP, with horror thrown in. The major influences of it are Star Wars, Mass Effect, Star Trek, Blade Runner, Halo, Guardians of the Galaxy and Aliens. The RP storyline focuses on a selected crew of a special spaceship tasked with heading into hostile space in order to avert a full scale war. You will be able to create your own species for this.

Your characters will be crew of this ship, which I will list here. My character is the captain, I will fill any unfilled spots with NPCs.:

Crew: (Fill these first)
Captain - [Heat]
Helmsman - [Inkwell]
First Officer - [caliban22]
Chief Engineering Officer - [Lone Wanderer]
Chief Medical Officer - [WatermelonTango]
Chief Science Officer - [Forsythe]
Chief Security Officer - [HikikomoriMoxy]
Chief Armory Officer - [Dsnake1]

Other positions: (If all the necessary positions are filled)
Scientists, nurses, engineers, security officers, chef, yeoman and shuttle pilot.

2229 - The Rahq attack a human colony, humans retaliate. The conflict known as the Rahq War begins, the human and Rahq are evenly matched military wise.
2232 - The Rahq Wars ended with a fragile peace agreement. Both sides take loses, humans taking slightly more.
2245 - Present day. The Rahq emerge once more, this time aided by another mysterious race simply referred to as the Prime. The alliance of the two races is known as the Rahq Collective. The Collective attacks multiple colonies, reigniting tensions, the galaxy seems to be heading towards war once more. Later that year the S.S. Durendal is commissioned, she is captained by Jon Welch.

Backstory:
It has been thirteen years since the Rahq war ended with a shaky peace treaty. The war for the most part was equal, as both sides took a large amount of losses, with humans taking slightly more causalities. In those thirteen years, the Rahq have been quiet, until three weeks ago when they launched a surprise attack on the human colony of Vesta II, obliterating all human forces stationed planetside, as well as ravaging the surface and taking any resources. The attack was not for the colony itself, if anything it was an act of war, of revenge, the Rahq still were bitter about their previous war with humanity.

The humans prepared a counter attack, but while they were in the midst of it, the Rahq struck another human colony, New Titan, but the planetary defenses were prepared, and they did not lose control of the colony, but still took high causalities. Those stationed on the planet who survived the attack reported the Rahq infantry being accompanied by another type of enemy, a mysterious enemy armed with high powered firearms and heavy armor. No corpses were recovered of this enemy, as the bodies disappeared once they died. This new enemy was named the "Prime". Humans beefed up their defensive measures, preparing for another war.

The Rahq Collective struck a Vaxir colony, causing massive damage. The humans aligned with the Vaxir in order to fight the Rahq Collective, in secret they formulated a plan. One single ship would be commissioned, an extremely advanced ship capable of slipping into Rahq territory in order to discover the source of the Prime along with the Rahq's aggression. The Rahq had ignored all messages of negotiation, their hearts seemingly set on war. The humans and Vaxiur battened down all of their defenses, preparing to hold the line, holding off launching a counter attack. They wanted to avoid entering a full war as long as possible. That is where the S.S. Durendal comes in.

The illustrious Jon Welch, the captain of the newly christened ship began searching for any suitable candidates to join his crew. Unlike the previous war, non humans were considered. Anyone who could give them an advantage and was committed to ending the second Rahq war before it began was considered.

Default Races:
Humans - Humans only recently became capable of interstellar travel, though they should not be underestimated as they possess a formidable military. Humans, while having no real natural advantages over the other species, are instead a very well rounded race capable of becoming skilled in many areas.

Vaxir - The first race humans encountered, the Vaxir are a normally peaceful race that excels in the areas of science and medicine. While they tend to focus less on military might, they are able to defend themselves. Vaxir are very similar to humans in appearance except that their hair colors range from shades or red to blue. They also have strangely colored eyes and no ears, just holes. Their lifespans extend three times as long as humans, the oldest documented Vaxir was 323 years old.

Rahq - A mysterious and hostile race. The Rahq love war, all but thirteen years they have know humanity, they have been at war with them. While not all of them are hostile, the government is. The Rahq are brutal, they have a system of slavery and do not show mercy in war. Scattered Rahq exist that don't associate with the government and can be seen around the galaxy, though these "exiles" are rare. They are most commonly mercenaries, slavers, assassins and bounty hunters. These "freelance" Rahq are ones who either fled or were exiled from their own species, due to some reason such as committing a very serious crime or bringing great shame to their family.

Prime - A very mysterious race that has aligned themselves with the Rahq to form the Rahq Collective. Their motives are unknown, as well as what they actually look like. Some speculate they are war droids of some kind, while others say they are a warlike race like the Rahq who are always under heavy armor. They are extremely competent warriors, those that have seen them in battle atest to them being able to withstand and extend massive amounts of punishment. No corpses have been recovered, as the bodies seemingly disintegrate when they die. An intact Prime body is highly wanted by E.S.C. in order to learn more about the new enemy.

General Rules:
1. No godmodding.
2. Paragraph per post, at least. If you're in dialogue with another person, then make a collab with them.
3. Decent grammar and spelling are needed. I also need you to write in the IC in 3rd person, it's a pet peeve of mine.
4. No auto hitting, I handle that stuff, I promise to be lenient.
5. Don't be an asshole in the OOC. Message me about any disputes, I'll try to solve them.
6. Your character can die. Usually only if you make a really dumb decision such as jumping on a landmine. I'll be lenient here as well.
7. Cursing and romance is cool, just keep the romance PG-13 in the IC. Any further and you take it to messages.
8. Have fun. Feel free to PM me any questions or concerns. I'll also take any suggestions to improve the RP, it's as much yours as it is mine

Created Species Guidelines:
1. Original species only, I don't care if you use the picture of some really obscure Star Wars race, but I just don't want anyone running around as Spock or Turians.
2. The races needed to be reasonable, no twenty foot tall behemoths that spit lightning.
3. If a race has strengths then they needed weaknesses.
4. The sheets don't need to be overly detailed, just fill out the needed stuff.

The S.S. Durendal:

The S.S. Durendal is an advanced human warship, the first of her kind. She is the result of pure, top of the line human engineering. Specially designed with this mission in mind, the Durendal is named after the sword of Charlemagne's paladin Roland in the legendary literary series, the Matter of France. The Durendal is a hybrid of a frigate class warship and a gunship, it possesses the capability to land on planets and has a fully functional warp drive, but where it really excels is its speed and stealth capablities. The ship's maximum crew is 30 people, though it can be navigated with a minimum of 6. It also contains a hanger with five starfighters, as well as a shuttle.

All of this will be greatly expanded in the OOC.

So, anyone interested?

Species name - The Shuunai

Appearance - Shuunai at their earliest stages (5 - 20 Years)
Shuunai at Later stages in life (25 - 60 Years)

Powers - Plant-Like regeneration, Manipulation of vine like appendages on their body, their bodies contain elements that can be used in medicine,

Strengths - Durable, Can easily survive in climates uncomfortable for other species, naturally talented as producing medicines and herbs for healing wounds, they also smell very nice and freshen the air around themselves.

Weaknesses - Extreme cold and extreme heat weaken them, Needs a steady source of clean water to sustain themselves,

Age scale - 50 - 60 Years

Culture - Shuunai are a very religious and pacifist race. You see, a Shunaai is born from a seed like a tree like most plants, but unlike most plants they have their own sentience. Eventually they will begin to feel tired and slow. Their roots will begin to form and their limbs will become like bark. Eventually a Shuunai will be reduced to being a tree identical to the many trees of their home world. In order to cope with their eventual end of intelligence they have formed various religious practices around the event, and view becoming "One with the Elder Forest" an honor above any other.

Shuunai are generally very accepting of people visiting their home and will welcome them with open arms. However, many of them are staunchly opposed to ever leaving, and view any Shuunai who decides to leave their home as exiled. Shuunai who exists outsides of planet Sheldin are uncommon. Even while outside their home world they will inevitably become a tree. A Shuunai tree is a pleasant smelling plant that fetches extremely high prices among noblemen. While this generally wouldn't be a big deal, Shuunai trees produce Shunaai young. Some Shuunai are well taken care of by the owner of the tree, but many end up being sold. They are a sizable portion of the Rahq slave drive, especially since they are a self sustaining population that can live off of nothing but sunlight and water.

Homeworld - Sheldin

Rarity - There are only a single colony of Shuunai as sentient beings, but there are plenty of forests created by their passing. On their own planet they are very common.

Government type - Monarchy,

Strength - Doesn't involve themselves in the struggles of other races often. They happily allow species ravaged by war a home on their planet, and will heal nearly anyone that enters their home. They only allow Rahq and Prime unaffiliated with their government to enter due to the previously mentioned slave drivers. An assault on their home planet is very difficult to pull off since the planet provides perfect conditions for Shuunai regeneration, and killing them would require killing all plant life on their planet. As long as a single tree on their planet is alive and in good health new Shuunai will always be born.

Backstory - The first race they had ever encountered was the Rahq, and it wasn't pretty. Fire, deforestation, everything. The Shuunai were resilient and defended themselves as best they could, but they weren't as experienced in war. What they did have was sheer numbers and resilience. Their fighting went on for 5 years, but from the Rahq's point of view they were just a very feisty natural resource. They lost some ships, but they only left when harvesting Shuunai plants stopped being profitable and went somewhere else, leaving their kind wary of other species.

That is until they met human kind a short time later. The Shuunai remained hidden for some time, but instead of warriors armed to the teeth they found interested scientists, people studying their forests in pursuit of knowledge. That was when the Shuunai introduced themselves with open arms, much to humanity's surprise. Both Humankind and Shuunai-kind learned much about the true nature of life from one another. As an entire species they never attained space travel, but thanks to the humans the few Shuunai who wanted to explore the stars got the opportunity aboard human vessels.

Nice species.

I'll hopefully be getting an OOC up by tonight, just looking for a few more interested people.

You guys can reserve crewman spots on this IT if you wish.

I was hoping to reserve for Chief Medical Officer, but judging by Hikiki's species and the way he emphasized their medical practices he was thinking of doing the same. Am I jumping to conclusions here?

I'd be inclined to think a complement of fighters would have their own pilots assigned to them; I mean, that's how it works in a real military and you need individuals who are specially trained for certain tasks.
& by "flight commander" I mean the pilot who acts as commanding officer to the others. A flight is technically comprised of around 4 or less craft, and that's really all there is stationed on the ship.

I kinda got that impression as well. You guys can decide, there's a bunch of other available positions anyway.

Good points. Though, with this since the crew will mostly compose of specially selected people, then some of them will probably be able to competently fly a fighter.

I'll add flight commander to the necessary positions as well.

You can go for it! My character I'm working on knows a little medicine but she's no doctor, she's just a helping hand but I don't want her to take the medical position. Maybe we can work out some story between each other

Also I'd like to reserve chief security officer. Gonna post my CS a little later.

Alright, I'll mark down that you reserved it.

I'm cool with a droid, maybe an assassin droid that gained sentience and escaped its captors or maybe an android that did the same.
