White. Utilitarian. That's what one would think of this room. A simple bed with white sheets was against the center back wall, a white desk with a simple white stool to the left of the bed, and a small nightstand to the right of the bed. There was nothing very special about the room, as the occupant had desired it to be. A single energy efficient bulb hung from the center of the roof, illuminated everything with ease.
On the center of the bed, a girl sat cross legged, her eyes closed. She was dressed to match the room; white shirt, white sweatpants. Her blonde hair hung down, nearly reaching the small of her back, the bangs held back by a pair of simple hair clips. In her lap was a greyish kitten, whom she was petting gently with one hand while the other served as a pillow for the tiny creature.
When the door opened, the girl barely reacted. She kept her pose with her closed eyes, her breath even. She hadn't even jumped slightly in surprise, simply pausing her moving hand. The kitten lolled his head lazily in the direction of the door, only half-interested in who was there.
"What do you think of the others?" The voice of the man who had visited her....it seemed like a lifetime ago she had been in a room as utilitarian as this one, but less clean. Rendyl slowly opened her eyes to look at him. An old man past his prime, but he looked exactly the same standing there as he did in her cell earlier that year.
She didn't respond by opening her mouth. She didn't seem to respond in any way to outward appearances. She had been given something by this man. Something she could not decide was a gift or a curse. She resumed petting her kitten, and spoke....with her mind.
~_**They have potential.**_~
But she knew that would not be enough of an answer for this man, a scientist by definition.
~_**A motly band of rebels, brought together by random selection, in their eyes. They act defiantly, having chosen a path they thought was of least resistance. I have not been aware of them long, so if you want their life stories, I cannot give you them.**_~
Rendyle sighed with only the quiet sound of breath escaping her mouth, gently lifting the kitten from her lap as she stretched her legs to move off the bed. Still petting the kitten lightly, she walked over to the desk, looking down at the notepad she had in the center of it.
~_**I wrote down some of my firs thoughts, but I have found I can now store information in a mental drawer. So I do not need this anymore.**_~
Reaching out with her petting hand, she grabbed the parchment and turned, walking towards Vlad and offering it to him. On it were a few lines of scrawled notes about what she first gleaned when she came here.
~_**That is all first impressions, so I will detail what I think to you now.**_~
~_**Roxy. I have not been able to learn much about her. She tends towards sarcastic remarks and feels strongly about her opinion. She has recently started becoming more sure about herself, and has shown to use her brain when she needs to. Her ability to control shadows, while now limited, has not been fully explored. Cassandra is hotheaded and prefers to express her opinion in a confrontational way. As for her talent, the ability to control light might be turned towards unexpected applications if not watched.**_~
Rendyl headed back for the bed, gently setting the kitten down on the warm sheets to wander upon the white vastness of the bed.
~_**Alastair, the one with a unique arm. All I have felt from him is anger and cruelty. I would describe his lack of control as enjoyment of letting loose his anger. But he thinks. His mind is never at rest. Another mind that rarely pauses belongs to Lucy. Her delight is feeling in control of herself, and is not afraid to express her feelings towards people she does not like. Her ability to control metal is a dangerous one, if you intend to restrain or attempt to control her, do not allow her to find any sort of metal.**_~
Rendyl stood at the foot of the bed as she rattled off these facts to Vlad via telepathy. It was second nature to her now, compared to when she first woke up in this room. All those voices screaming around her, her own thoughts barely able to form in her own head. She had been coached and taught meditation techniques by tutors, until three months after being taken from that cell, she had finally been able to block out the stray thoughts around her and focus on those she wished to hear.
~_**Flippy is like Alastair. But where they differ is that Flippy has visible boiling blood, being able to form things with his own blood, and tends towards fury when provoked. Sandra, or Sparks as she prefers to be referred to, has the ability to sense and manipulate electric currents. I believe that can also mean she can enhance her body in this way.**_~
The young woman turned and sat on the edge of the bed, watching the grey ball of fluff curl up beside her, and she resumed petting his back gently. She had requested a companion several months ago, and was only answered a month past when she found the kitten on her bed one day when she woke up.
~_**Allison seems to have a clever mind, and tends towards trying to avoid work with it rather than for the greater good. Her talent mirrors her desire to be looked over by becoming ethereal in a way, able to pass through solid matter.**_~
Rendyl looked up at Vlad, eyes soft, but unwavering as she stared at the man ~_**Do I pass my test? Or will I lose Twilight?**_~ She was referring to the kitten, whom she had named after the darkened sky of a late sunset.
