BioHazard The Plague Master

I've tried several times to start a Mirai Nikki RP (although it never made it into the IC) but I'm willing to give it another try. This RP takes place in an alternate universe in which Deus didn't form an alliance with John Bacchus, but instead thought up the game himself. Since this is an RP where people die, you can make two characters (when the OOC is up) who are diary holders. And a few NPC's can be made that may be important in your character's or others story.

I think when 5 peeps are interested I will make the OOC

I think a Mirai Nikki RP will require very dedicated players! I for one am definitely willing to put in the effort.

An idea: Let's say we have four players. We each make our character and have them ally within the RP. We'll be working together to defeat the other Diary Holders, that way no one's character needs to die. We could separate the remaining eight Diary Holders into chapters where each one acts as the antagonist. That way the Roleplay will be a lot less free roam and much more goal orientated.

That is a possibility. Otherwise I just had in mind that everyone just makes two or three characters and see which character will meet their dead end first. But this is an good idea too. Let's listen what others prefer

I'm with this.

Mirai Nikki is one of my favorites. I can't believe this thread isn't garnering more attention!

How will notifying players of their diary updates work? It would be sort-of stupid to display the entries where every other player can read them too.

That's obviously why we would be working as a team...

Is this not a pvp oriented rp, just as the show was? Having a team-based scenario would break the game, and while letting us make alternate characters who are antagonistic remedies it slightly, the problem still stand that whomever is playing the enemy would still be able to read the entries of the other "team" just by those entries being posted in the thread.

I think the GM should handle all entry-making, so that players can't control their futures any more than characters in the anime could. The GM should send private messages to the players depicting their entries, and players can use private messages to discreetly show each other their entries so that players who own characters that can't see the entry won't see it.

I think I would withdraw my interest if that was the case. That kind of rips all the fun away from the RP. Instead, I would suggest we only recruit mature players who would not power play.

While not trusting random people online to not powerplay and ruin the game was where I was going with it, I think it would also make the game more dynamic and interesting, we as players would have no idea what futures would be ordained by our diaries, just like in the anime.

Kind of makes things unnecessarily complicated for BioHazard though. Maybe the predictions should be planned out in the OOC with everyone's input?

Then we would all know what's going to happen. That defeats the purpose of what Mirai Nikki is.

Hmm ... A grave problem this is. I'm sort of neutral here, I'm fine with either option.

I don't believe Light's suggestion would work though.

Even if BioHazard were to GM all the Predictions, everyone else and the Antagonist would still be able to read them in BioHazard's post so that point is irrelevant. If BioHazard were to secretly reveal the predictions to people individually, we wouldn't we be able to synchronize our character properly. If the prediction says, "Character A dies on he fifth floor of an apartment building" how would the Writer behind the Antagonist know to make the Antagonist go to the Apartment building? The writer behind the Antagonist could have something else planned entirely. It doesn't work unless everyone has input into the predictions so that we can play our characters accordingly.

It's not that the players need to magically line up with the GM's predictions, its the other way around. When the GM sees that a player is set on doing something, that creates a projectable outcome that the GM can form into an entry.

In a sense, making them absolutely pointless...

So either way it's pointless because with one way we already know things are going to happen before they're predicted because they're reactionary, or everyone knows what the prediction is because its posted publicly and the game becomes trivial.
