no rush - a question about rules

As I wait for my friend to get his act together and post one of his roleplays. I have been wanting to roleplay on my IM. Is there an area where I can post such a request? And also, there is the another question. I'm a fan of the more adult play, and my friend says that you don't want that in the forums. To instead put in a fade to black and continue in privet messages. Since that is the case, are we allowed to put in the initial post that we are looking for that? Or should we leave that out all together and keep that kind of thing completely private?

I see in the 1v1 that there's pairings but I don't know if that means adult content or not. My only other rp source has everyone listing it as smut and whether or not your OK with it.

So I guess the main thing is.
* we keep it in private
* but do we list whether or not we are into it?

so long as the adult-level content (descriptive sex & such) ain't visible to just anybody, it doesn't really matter what you put in public. There are more than a few IntCks that go for PMs/IM/Google docs/etc. rather than publicly visible topics.

Telling someone you're into smut ain't really something anyone (except prudish, overly religious types) can complain about. This guild is paid for in part by AdSense advertisements, which are reliant upon the site following some certain rules. Mentioning you like something is not something that is punished for (except the obvious ones, like child porn).

And just keep in mind when writing up your Interest checks that you don't use super graphic language to describe what you are after. I have seen some interest checks that are very specific and educational in the worst ways. There are ways to get across what you want and then take the discussion of particulars to PM.

The general rule is keep it PG13. Actively searching for 'adult' roleplaying on a site with that kind of census is just bad taste if you ask me. I don't make the rules, but really. If that's your thing, why not search for a site that displays it proudly and openly? That seems a far better option than posting an interest check that says "Hey I want to RP bondage with you over skype."

Because seriously, we got minors over here and we have enough trouble as it is.

While it's totally possible to be discrete and not break any site rules with it, I agree with Kestrel here. Go do a Google search for 'erotic roleplaying forum' and you get plenty of results for sites fully dedicated to that sort of thing and some general roleplaying forums with sections for it. It'd be easier for you to find all sorts of people interested in that realm of roleplaying on a site or section dedicated to it, after all.

I'm with Jorick and Kestrel mostly. While I think there's room for "tasteful romance" I think some of the 1x1 interest checks go far beyond that "tasteful" monicker, and into things that would probably be best suited for a more "adult" themed rp forum. Having said that, if someone wants to set up a 1x1 with that sort of thing and it's not visible to anyone, I don't really see the problem with it--aside from the fact that you might be RPing that with a 13 year old :/

What I would suggest is that, should a rp get to that point,
Set thread up for a fade to black, and should you wish, play out the scene via pm

You can tastefully signal it in your interest check, but you should finish that conversation in a PM.

I have no problem with leaving that out of roleplaying here. I just was unsure.

I don't think that's ever been as defined as the sexual end of things. I think a good rule of thumb is checking in with your players about their comfort level and let that be your guide. If you are having misgivings about posting something, then maybe it should be scrolled back? Sorry I have no definitive answers for you.
