Foundation X, the Merchants of Death, have set their sights on something within Tokyo. A group of the Foundation's operatives have set themselves up somewhere in the city, in search of a hidden entrance to the headquarters of a group allegedly based in the area. The Foundation has taken a strong interest in this organisation's work, believing that the technology being created there could greatly assist with their goals. However, while finding an entrance and infiltrating the group's headquarters is their final goal, there is something else the Foundation's operatives are to do...

Wreak havoc in the name of science. Equipped with assorted powers and gear the Foundation has acquired through their studies into Core Medals, Cosmic Energy, Gaia Memories and who knows what else, they are causing chaos and destruction throughout the area. This is in part to try to coax out a reaction from their target, but also to field test improvements made to some old acquisitions. Of course, this is something the leader of this expedition has charged them with, rather than an order from the Foundation itself.

While Tokyo is not without its own Riders, the Foundation expedition seems to have little respect for the way most villains do battle. Routinely sending out multiple monsters to multiple locations. As a result, the city's defenders have found themselves stretched to breaking point and the city is suffering heavily from it.

Throughout Japan, Kamen Riders have received letters requesting their assistance in dealing with these attacks. The messages have no details about who the sender is, simply requesting the Riders' presence in Tokyo, accompanied by photographs of monsters that specific Rider had defeated, once again alive and well in Tokyo.

While some declined the invitation for a number of different reasons, others headed to Tokyo, ready to do battle with the Foundation operatives. Some of the Riders answering the call to arms are happy to simply protect the citizens, defeat the villains and return to their homes, others intend on tracking down the mysterious source of the letters or at the very least, learning why these monsters were back and what exactly they were after in Tokyo.

So, long story short, monsters are wrecking Tokyo, Riders (both experienced and rookies) are called in to help, awesomeness, hilarity and/or cheesiness ensues.

As far as character creation goes, canon characters and original characters (with either canon or original power sets) are allowed. However, for the sake of balance, Kabuto Riders won't be able to use Clock Up and canon Riders won't have access to their super modes from the start.

Villain characters are allowed and in fact, encouraged, just try to keep the power levels reasonable for what they are. Also, while I'm fine with evil Rider characters, they should not make up the majority of the villainous forces.

So...anyone interested?

  • Name: Luke "Crash", aka Armored Rider Crit

  • Age: 17

  • Appearance: Human Appearance, His Rider Form always has a cowboy motif to it, so you'll see that the front of his helmet that's molded into the shape of a cowboy hat, as well as several white tassels on his arms. As per Gaim Riders, he doesn't have much features, leaving all that for the Arms. Aside from the aforementioned tassels, his suit is also white.

  • Abilities: Not really any special abilities.

  • Rider Powers: Luke has a Sengoku Driver. He also has about nine Lockseeds, each of them having the potential to be utilized in the Sengoku Driver. They could also be used to summon Invess, though only into a holographic wrestling ring. If he was to drop or otherwise let go of his Lock Seed in the midst of battle, the Invess would lose control and break out of the ring. The nine Lockseeds are split into three sets.

    • Himawari Arms: Luke's main Lock Seed. It grants him the Himawari Bullet, a revolver-like gun that he can use to shoot sunflower seed like bullets at people. His finisher is the Himawari Smash, in which he shoots a sunflower seed at someone, it grows into a drill, and thus prompts him to preform a Rider Kick.

    • Matsubokkuri Arms: Using this Lock Seed grants him the Kagematsu, a spear style weapon for him to slash. His finisher is the Ichigeki Break, where he jumps and charges with his Kagematsu, forming a giant energy pinecone on the tip to stab the opponent with.

    • Kurumi Arms: Using this Lock Seed grants him the Kurumi Gauntlets, powerful gauntlets for him to punch with. His finisher is the Breakurumi Punch, a powerful Rider Punch.

  • Rider Machine: He has a Rose Attacker.

  • Personality: Luke enjoys battles, provided they're not to the death. Often he'll sit by and watch other people fight, not being a fan of joining in the battle and siding with one person. He doesn't appreciate cheating, but it's far from his Berserk Button. Unlike the other people in the Critical Dancers, Luke wasn't upbeat or energetic. He was quite the opposite. He was silent, always calculating some strategy for his next Invess/Rider battle and he doesn't really have that youthful spirit that the others had.

  • Backstory: Contrary to the other Armored Riders, Luke was not in Zawame City, but rather a neighboring city that was absorbed in the Beat Rider craze. As such, he was part of the Beat Rider team known as the Critical Dancers. However, Luke never liked dancing. He always had two left feet. No, his interest was in the Invess battles, in which one utilizes Lock Seeds to summon monsters from another world and have them fight. He liked this enough to buy three Lock Seeds from his local Lock Dealer. However, there wasn't enough focus on the Invess games than in Zawame City (though that could be because of Yggdrasil wanting to contain them inside Zawame City), and thus Luke was not able to find a decent challenge. That's when he moved to Zawame City. By that time, the Armored Rider craze began, so he only managed to pick fights with the lesser Beat Riders while the higher ranked ones fought each other. Even when he would lose, Luke would have fun partaking in the games. As soon as the Invess began to attack people and the blame on placed on the Beat Riders, he was approached by a girl who proposed him to stop with the Games. Distraught with the loss of his favorite hobby, he departed back to his hometown. He wanted to see his Lock Dealer again, but he mysteriously disappeared and in his place was a strange driver with a knife on it and a new Lockseed that eventually became the Rose Attacker. A note on the belt said "To my most favorite customer. You always did have an interest for intense battles... This shall make them even more intense. Take it, it's free." And taken it he did. He placed the driver on his waist and with that, it bonded with him and created someone that the DJ in his town would call Armored Rider Crit. However, conflicts with the Beat Riders spread to his town, though since Luke was one of the few who managed to use Lockseeds in that town, he was kicked out of both the Critical Dancers and his home town. Realizing that he became an Armored Rider like the ones in Zawame City, he sets off and searches for battles to be had.

And this is where I go maximum sperg and point out that the Himawari Lockseed is Inves Games only, to the point where even the toy only has generic Inves Game sounds. And that it's Class D, which means it's lower class than the cannon fodder tier Kurokage. But, again, this is just me being a sperg. I think it's great that you're not just a copy of an existing rider/literally using the powers of an existing rider.

Anyway, here you go, tribute to Showa Riders, Shocker Combatmen and a bit of The Skullman all in one go.

Name: Taro Yamada (or Yamada Taro in japanese)
    Rider Name: Kamen Rider Rivale
    Age: 74
    Gender: Male

    Appearance:
People who've known him for a few years tend to joke that Yamada just doesn't age. This statement is true, as he does not look a day beyond 30 despite being over 70 years old, not that anyone knows his real age. Other than that little factoid, Taro just doesn't really stand out whatsoever. He's an entirely average japanese man in every respect, not too tall or short, not too fat or thin or muscular, short black hair, clean shaven with dark brown eyes. Though nowadays he tends to dress in average, middle of the line black suits with white shirts and featureless black ties, which makes him the spitting image of the nameless faceless salaryman, the truth is that he could easily pass for most anything by wearing the right clothes, he is that kind of plain.

    Suit appearance:
More akin to reinforced biker leathers rather than some manner of high tech powered armor, the Rivale suit is almost entirely black and features white designs resembling a human skeleton spread throughout the entire frame, not unlike a certain dark Rider, along with plain white gloves and boots akin to those eventually worn by the first Kamen Rider. Though of a much higher quality, the entire design still brings to mind the visage of the Shocker Combatmen to whoever is in any way familiar with them or their incarnations in Dai Shocker, Super Shocker or Space Shocker.

Rather than the regular Shocker Combatman mask, however, Kamen Rider Rivale wears a two-part helmet, a featureless black faceplate which covers the lower jaw up to right under the nose combined with a bone-white top made to resemble a skull, its large, black eyesockets somewhat resembling a regular rider's compound eyes if one squints a bit. The suit is also adorned with small imprints of the Dai-Shocker insignia. There is one carved into the helmet's forehead, another white one on the back, right under the neck, and then two black ones adorning the back of the hands. The boots also sport the design carved into the soles.

His belt, known as the Shocker Driver EX, is an extremely simple deal, a featureless white strap with an oval silver buckle which fits handily in Yamada's hand. The buckle's centerpiece is a black medal depicting, you guessed it, the double headed eagle insignia. Yamada can materialize the belt at will, since it's part of his cybernetic enhancements, but must carry and insert the buckle manually. The entire setup is extremely resilient to all forms of damage and the buckle is unlikely to come off unless subjected to extreme trauma.

    Abilities:
As a cybernetically enhanced man, Yamada Taro is stronger, faster and more durable than an average human even without transforming, though since these upgrades are of low quality compared to superior inhumanoids they don't add as much of an edge as one would believe. Most full-fledged monsters are much stronger and even dedicated humans may attain a level of physical performance that matches or surpasses some of the advantages given by these cybernetic augmentations. Yamada is also quite skilled in hand to hand fighting and motorcycle riding and is something of a jack of all trades as a result of his long life and his myriad of jobs.

    Rider Powers:
Kamen Rider Rivale does not use weapons because of the 15 Showa Riders (counting Shin, ZO and J), only 5 of them employed any kind of personal weapon at all. Likewise, Rivale lacks any kind of form changing powers since only Stronger, Black RX and J had abilities like those, not to mention both Stronger's Charge Up and J's Jumbo Formation were straight powerups rather than any kind of specialized use forms like the Heisei riders are fond of employing. Instead, the Rivale suit greatly empowers Yamada's cybernetic enhancements, making his physical performance outstanding even for superhumans.

The combination of Taro's martial art skills and the overwhelming strength, impressive durability, outstanding speed, the ability to enhance and control his senses with the Orbit Finder eyes and the Cochlear Searcher ears make Kamen Rider Rivale a threat to be reckoned even if he lacks any kind of fancy overblown weapon or 10 different costumes. Rivale finishes battles with the Shocker Finish attacks, which can be triggered vocally or via manual handling of the belt, and consist of gathering large amounts of crackling yellow energy into his hands or feet to deliver a powerful attack. The process is tiresome and can't be used more than once or twice without rest.

Rivale can perform the following techniques with the Shock Finish
-Shocker Punch: Any kind of punch delivered with a charged fist.
-Shocker Kick: Any kind of kick delivered with charged feet. A personal favorite for obvious reasons.
-Shocker Chop: Any kind of knifehand strike, where the energy is used to cut rather than for concussive force.
-Shocker Thrust: A stabbing knifehand strike.
-Shocker Shooting: Discharging the accumulated energy as a projectile rather than on contact. Not as powerful, but has the advantage of range.

    Rider Machine:
Kamen Rider Rivale's bike is the Combat Revenger, a black Zundapp KS750 sans the sidecar that's been modified to achieve Rider Machine levels of performance and durability. It's a heavy all-terrain motorcycle, not as suitable for acrobatics but powerful and capable of riding in damn near every terrain and direction imaginable, such as up buildings or across water, as well as surviving gross amounts of punishment. Rivale can summon the Combat Revenger to his location and there's few obstacles that can actually stop the bike from reaching its master.

The Combat Revenger's unused sidecar can actually transform into a secondary Rider Machine called the Side Striker. It's smaller, slower, and not as good with rough terrain as the Combat Revenger, so Rivale does not like it as much. The Side Striker makes up for all this by being a mobile weapons platform, loaded down with heavy firepower which can be used in both motorcycle and sidecar mode and being even tougher than the Combat Revenger. The main bike loses some top speed and maneuverability when the Side Striker is attached and, more importantly, it requires someone manning the guns to function, which means it goes completely unused for the moment.

While riding on the Combat Revenger, Rivale can perform another Shocker Finish known as the Shocker Ramming, where the bike is covered in a shield of of glowing energy as it accelerates to breakneck speeds, fatally crashing into the enemy. It's stronger than the regular Finish moves but requires more energy and Yamada is knocked out of his transformation shortly after performing it.

    Personality:
Yamada Taro is fairly amicable, quiet and a bit withdrawn but by no means antisocial. As Kamen Rider Rivale, he has conflicted feelings. On the one hand, he greatly believes in Shocker's ideal of a unified world of superhumans and has a personal vendetta against Kamen Riders for the deaths of many like him. On the other, he also hates the leaders of the various villanous organizations for treating combatmen as disposable and realizes that Shocker's terrorist activities were perhaps not the best way to go about their goals. Though he wants to be a hero, or at least someone the public can look at with respect, he has very little idea of how to do so beyond doing the exact opposite of what he used to do and imitating the Riders of old.

    Backstory:
It has been over four decades since the Kamen Riders came to be and Shocker was dissolved, first fused with Geldam into Gel-Shocker after the massacre of its former members, then destroyed and reborn time and again. All eyes were on the Riders and the monsters they battled, as well as the rise of evil groups not governed by the Great Leader. And in the chaos, a nameless grunt survived. Deciding he'd had enough, enough of battling impossible odds and being a sacrificial lamb, he took the name Yamada Taro (a japanese equivalent of John Doe) and put his life of crime behind him. His affiliation with Shocker would've seemed like a dream were it not for his ageless cyborg body.

What followed were long decades of constant moving around, not staying in one place or holding down a single job for too long. It was too dangerous for both himself and the people around him, who he never allowed himself to get too close to. It wasn't a great life, but it wasn't bad either. He managed to disconnect himself from his previous self almost entirely and was only vaguely aware of the new threats and the riders that faced them. At least until he was tracked down by Foundation X. As one of the few remnants of Shocker's trailblazing technology he was of particular interest to their research, especially since coming close to capturing one of the original Riders was a pipe dream at best.

Compared to the Shocker conversion process, their research was relatively harmless, not like it made the entire situation less distressing. The Foundation's goal was to reverse enginneer the human modification technologies found within Yamada and refine them into the same level that produced the original Kamen Riders. As a test platform, they designed a special system known as the Inhumanoid Driver Experimental which would theoretically enhance a man with upgrades like Yamada's into someone that could match a Kamen Rider blow for blow. Obviously, the whole process was to be tested on a loyal member of the Foundation.

As it happens, Yamada took advantage of his own cybernetic enhancements and years of experience to escape the Foundation's grasp, taking the untested Driver and using it against the Foundation, renaming it the Shocker Driver EX. He now had power to match that of his nemeses, but found that time had given him a new perspective on things. He was no longer as bitter against the Riders and saw the harm that groups like Shocker could cause in the name of a greater good. Now that he too had great power, it was time to do things right. He would recreate Shocker as a true force for good, a group truly dedicated to advancing mankind. He was now Kamen Rider Rivale.

    i did a thing

    Name: Takeru Yoshii & Qui

    Rider Name: Kamen Rider Tao

    Age: 20

Appearance: Takeru is a fairly scrawny sort of twenty year old, and he has the look of a bum. This is not surprising, because he actually is a bum. He has thick dark hair that probably gets cut about once every other year, and his clothes are consistently half a decade out of style. His Imagin, Qui, has a much more refined look about her. Her form is based off of a zebra, and she has black and white stripes accenting her armor-like body. Her face consists of a white jaw and a black visor that obscures any other facial features. Behind her she sports a flowing black-and-white mane of hair that travels down most of her back. When possessing Takeru, his hair acquires white stripes. Qui is contracted to Takeru and therefore has a physical form, but cannot disguise herself as a human; when going out into the world she usually tries to wear clothing that conceals her identity as an evil inhuman monster. Such as sinister trenchcoat-and-hat ensembles.

Suit: The Tao Suit is contained within the Cross Buckle, a belt with a look to it that is not entirely unlike a railroad crossing. When activated, Takeru becomes surrounded by a standard Plat Form. Track-like designs form an X on his chest, and his helmet features a pair of tracks, one splitting it in half vertically and the other going across diagonally. Depending on the activation, Tao can take one of two forms:
    • Yang Form: Yang Form is Takeru's default suit form, and is activated by inserting a White Ticket into the Cross Buckle. In this form, a white aura armor affixes itself to the Plat Form. The face mask generated for this form is a white droplet-shaped mask, not unlike the yang side of a yinyang symbol.

    • Yin Form: Yin Form is a form activated by Qui possessing Takeru, and then inserting a Black Ticket into the Cross Buckle. In this form, a black aura armor is generated instead. In addition to the more cosmetic differences, this form also has black claws, in spite of the fact that this is thematically inappropriate for an equine-inspired Imagin. The face mask is a flipped and inverted version of Yang Form's mask.

Abilities: Takeru is in fact an excellent performer, with a wide repertoire of various magic tricks and amusing routines. He has been known to beg perform on the streets when he needs a little bit of cash for something. Qui, for her part, is a ruthless killing machine, being well versed in all the arts of war, including armed combat, deception, and extreme knitting.

Rider Powers: Kamen Rider Tao has access to two forms and one adaptable weapon.
    • Yang Form: In Yang Form, Tao has enhanced punching and kicking strength, and heightened physical resilience. In addition, the ChangeGladius in this form takes the shape of a large sword, which can be used to execute a number of powerful attacks and his finisher. Yang Form is accessed by burning "good" memories in the form of a White Ticket in the Cross Buckle.

    • Yin Form: In Yin Form, Tao has enhanced speed and mobility. The ChangeGladius in this form takes the shape of a longbow-like ranged weapon, which can be used to execute a number of powerful attacks and her finisher. In addition, Tao has the use of a close range secondary weapon in the claws on the suit's gloves. Yin Form is accessed by burning "bad" memories in the form of a Black Ticket in the Cross Buckle.

    • ChangeGladius: The ChangeGladius is a two-form weapon. Sword mode, used in Yang Form, looks like a half-black, half-white outline of a sword blade with a wide tip. The sword has an exceptional cutting ability, and combined with Yang Form's strength can slice through most any material. Longbow mode, used in Yin Form, looks like a half-white, half-black twice-curved longbow, and is formed by the blade of the sword mode ChangeGladius splitting in two and swinging out. Longbow Mode fires powerful blasts and has an exceptional range, making it ideal strategy for Tao to stay out of reach while firing off blasts at the enemy.

Rider Machine: Takeru and Qui travel and live in the TaoLiner as its only crew. Due to the lack of a conductor on the train, it is limited in its time-travel capabilities. For the most part the dynamic duo tend to just park it out in the Sands of Time unless they're traveling somewhere far away.
Technically, there is a motorcycle called the TaoSteed stored on the TaoLiner, which "belongs" to Takeru. However, Takeru is an interdimensional time traveling bum and does not have a license and neither he nor Qui actually know how to ride a motorcycle, so it mostly just collects dust when not being used to conduct the TaoLiner.

Personality: Takeru and Qui have an odd chemistry together, wherein Takeru tends to give to charity, say good morning to people, rush in to save the innocent bystanders, etc. Meanwhile, Qui tends to steal candy from babies, make murderous faces at anyone that talks to her, and get the job done regardless of casualties. While it's tempting to say they keep each other in check, the truth is that they're both pretty ineffectual even by themselves, with Takeru basically failing at most of the things he attempts and Qui just coming off as an antisocial jerk, who also happens to be a zebra. In short, Takeru tries to be the superhero he wished to be; while Qui just kind of does her own thing. Make no mistake, however; as Qui's contract is completed, she can take off and leave at any moment, and Takeru doesn't particularly need her either as long as he holds the buckle. It's almost like they secretly don't hate each other...

Backstory: Once upon a time there was a cunning and powerful Imagin soldier that went back in time to really eff things up. But then she contracted to a total screw up and that was the end of her illustrious career.
That's how Qui would tell the tale, at least, and it's not totally wrong. Contracting with Takeru was simultaneously one of the best and worst decisions of her life. It was a great day for a freshly-minted graduate, however, who suddenly had his own real life wish-granting genie. Takeru knew exactly what his wish was right then and there: he wanted to be a superhero. And this is what caused Qui to bash her head against a wall for three weeks straight trying to grant it.
Finally, after many unsuccessful attempts (it turns out that, unlike in the comics, gamma radiation just gives you cancer), Qui determined that the only way to fulfill this contract was to do the impossible: hijack a time train. Fortunately, with the powers of zebra-ness, the impossible became possible; somehow she made off with none other than the TaoLiner, evaded the authorities, and delivered the train and the Cross Buckle into Takeru's care.
To this day Takeru and Qui are high up on the interdimensional wanted list; though some might suggest that the time police are taking their time to catch up to them, thanks to Tao's vigilanteism making things a little easier for them. Between evading the authorities and taking down time criminals, Takeru and Qui try to do their best to keep their heads down and not attract too much attention. Which can be difficult at times, as Takeru likes to send them off on wild goose chases all the time whenever he hears about villains roaming about. These days it seems Tokyo has been getting more and more dangerous, in the evil monster department. Perhaps they will be making a trip there soon...

Here's a thing from me, too. Bit of W mixed with Kuuga for the most part.

    Name: Kazayuki Murakami

    Rider Name: Kamen Rider Howl

    Age: 27

Appearance: Human Appearance, his suit is mostly a dark indigo, accented by a few bright blue armored bits. The suit isn't all blue, though, as some of the inner accents of the armor, as well as the belt, are a shiny white. Perhaps most interesting is the helmet, which is a far cry from the traditional insect look most riders sport. Rather, it is instead inspired by a canine species, having a slight snout on the mouth piece and even pointed wolf ears on the sides of the head and slanting back slightly. The suit's gloves are covered in small armored parts, including sharpened bits on the fingertips to give them a claw-like edge to their strikes. A similar motif can be spotted on the legs, each one possessing a blade-like attachments protruding from the shins to put a little extra edge into his kicks.

Abilities: Kazayuki is, according to himself, a master of investigation. He's got a good eye for detail, and for spotting small inconsistencies in statements, making it fairly difficult, though not impossible, to deceive him. Through his background, Kazayuki is a good scrapper and fairly decent shot with most sidearms, though not unbeatable by any means. He's also tenacious, even to a flaw, seemingly incapable of giving up on any task or mission he has set for himself. This can borderline on obsession at times, though, the more invested he is the worse it becomes most of the time.

Rider Powers: Kazayuki's mysterious belt is still largely a mystery to him. He still doesn't fully understand its power or potential. Still, the belt essentially means superpowers and those, in turn, allow for the kicking of bad guy ass which is really all Kazayuki cares about in the end. His Rider form gives him the standard buffs in strength and stamina, but also causes him to adopt the habit of moving and even standing with a more feral posture, almost so much that he can seem reminiscent of a werewolf. Speaking of which, when he transforms the belt has a habit of letting loose the sound of a wolf howling. Lastly, the suit apparently enhances his senses, his hearing and sense of smell are particularly more acute when transformed, even allowing him to track scents and continue fighting even when blind or in darkness, so long as his ears and nose aren't being blocked somehow. The belt seems to have some kind of adaptation power to it, namely it can convert mundane weapons or objects into powerful weapons from its arsenal. Most peculiar is that the belt appears to house a spirit or ghost of some kind, a woman who calls herself Ami. Unfortunately, only Kazayuki is able to see or hear her, so he has often been mistakenly accused of talking to himself or having an imaginary of friend of some kind.

    • Lunar Saber: A sword with a crescent-shaped curve in the blade. Any sword-shaped object can be temporarily transformed into the saber. Usually this means an old katana sword that Kazayuki has started keeping around for just such an occasion.

    • Lunar Magnum: A fairly self-explanatory blaster weapon, transformed from just about any sidearm gun. Kazayuki still has his old police issued weapon that he uses to bring out the Magnum when needed.

Rider Machine: He doesn't have one, Kazayuki's Rider form has proven more than capable of traversing long distances with the speed and stride of a predator on the hunt.

Personality: Kazayuki is smarter than he may seem, having been described by others as having a keen eye for detail and a good nose for sniffing out lies. On the other hand, he can be rather abrasive and, at times, short tempered. This, needless to say, has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion. Still, he does what he does in pursuit of justice and to knock the bad guys down a few pegs, so in the end he's not a particularly bad guy himself, just stubborn more than anything else. The ghost, Ami, is like the definition of the word "enigma". She's cryptic, mysterious, knows more than what she lets on, and seems to enjoy teasing Kazayuki with that fact, especially humorous since, as a ghost-like entity, Kazayuki cannot touch her or do anything to her in retaliation to her sometimes mean-spirited snark.

Backstory: Growing up, Kazayuki admired a number of comic book heroes, not for their powers or gadgets, but for their courage to do what was right even if it pained them to do it. Of course, the boy himself had no delusions of growing up to be a superhero himself, he still took their lessons about courage and standing up for what you believe in to heart. So as he grew up, Kazayuki found the next best thing to being a superhero: police work. When he joined the force, he did so with a mission of sorts, to put his beliefs to the test and put a stop to evil in any of its forms. When he was promoted to Homicide Division, Kazayuki was partnered with veteran detective Ittetsu Badou. Unlike Kazayuki, Badou was a 20-year detective, and not particularly fond of Kazayuki's naive beliefs. Still, the two made a surprisingly effective team, Badou's experience with Kazayuki's determination made for an almost infamous combination. Nothing lasts forever, as Badou was always quick to remind Kazayuki, and indeed he was proven right one day. It was a normal case, or at least it should have been. A murder in a shopping center, Badou and Kazayuki hot on the scent of the culprit. That's about where "normal" ends, though. The culprit, when they finally caught up to them, was a... well, in a word, a monster. Leathery skin, boney exoskeleton, fangs, claws, the works. It attacked and the two detectives opened fire for all the good it ended up doing in the end. Kazayuki managed to barely survive, but Badou was not so fortunate. Worse still, Kazayuki had to endure the heart-wrenching job of informing Badou's wife and son of the incident. Needless to say, it didn't end well. The wife, Inari, was heartbroken; and the teenage son, Taisuke, was angry and blamed Kazayuki for the death. Maybe it was Kazayuki's fault? Maybe he wasn't strong enough to follow his beliefs after all? After that incident, Kazayuki changed. No longer the fiery determined rookie he once was, he was now on a different mission, following a new creed. No longer did he believe in courage or fighting for beliefs. Instead, he only believed in one thing; that the world is full of evil, and that evil needs to be destroyed by any and all means. He became more stubborn, less inclined to work with anyone, refusing to let unsolved cases go. Interrogations? He wasn't even allowed to conduct those anymore, not after he damn near killed a suspect trying to beat the truth out of them. In fact it was shortly after that incident that he was let go, fired from the force and asked to turn in his badge.

Kazayuki didn't stop there. He started performing his own unsanctioned investigations, now presenting himself as a private eye of sorts. His slogan was that he would take any case, even those the police had given up on. It was during some of these private cases that he investigated a disappearance of an archeology student. They were on some excavation site, digging up an artifact when there were sounds of growls and the student vanished. It was here that Kazayuki first encountered it. The artifact that was being excavated was a white, metallic belt of some kind. When he got close, Kazayuki heard a woman's voice, "You've suffered a great deal..." she had said. The voice beckoned for Kazayuki to take the belt, promising that if he did so, he would be given the power he lacked all this time to fight evil for real. With nothing to really lose, Kazayuki took the belt and put it on around his waist. The belt flashed with light, and Kazayuki heard a chilling howl of a wolf, but found himself adorned in dark indigo armor, and feeling stronger and faster than he ever could otherwise. The rest, as they say, was history.
