My cat died a year and a month ago. I still miss her. She was 9. Diagnosed with kidney failure and pancreatitis at 8. I treated her with an injected drip every other day for a year and pills and other meds for the first few months. Losing pets is really hard.I'm sorry for your loss but she had a good long run it sounds like :) and 18 is very good in cat years.
I was always her favorite of my family. She was usually pretty nice but she was a major trouble-maker, she broke things, yelped all the time, scratched, her entire life.
The past year was rough for her, in the past week she hardly ate, would not climb up things, and had a rapid heartbeat, we decided to put her to sleep.
According to the story, as my mom walked into the vet, Shadow (my cat), screamed, scratched, bit, and peed. She made such a fuss that she had a heart attack and died right there, in a blaze of glory. It may sound sad but it was the best way for her to go.
