Hey, guys.
So I was thinking of a role play set in modern times, this year or a couple years from now, wherein sudden and perpetual darkness sets in. It is constantly night, which leads to an increase in gang numbers, crimes of all descriptions, etc. Authorities would attempt to maintain order with artificial lighting but that can only go so far.

Would anyone be interested in developing this further with me/partaking? This is my very first attempt so please be patient as I might have as many questions as you do!

I also apologise if there is a similar RP somewhere on here. I honestly haven't seen any but I am a little blind.

Sounds pretty interesting. I guess you would have to develop factions, i.e. some people would be trying to maintain the darkness to facilitate crime for their own purposes, while other people would either be the authority trying to develop efficient/secure artificial lighting or scientists researching the restoration of natural light. I suppose this darkness would be supernatural? Or were you considering more like science fiction, as in the sun being blotted out?

Exactly. There would be gangs that would be trying to keep the world in the dark for their own gains and those opposite. I've been thinking of scientific VS supernatural and I'm feeling a more supernatural vibe. Which do you think would be better?

I think a supernatural source would be more exciting. Vampires who want a permanent way to avoid turning into ashes from daylight? (Though I believe this was a storyline in Skyrim: Dawnguard.) Or a demon who wants to create another dimension of hell, using the Earth as a preexisting "clay" to form it?

And honestly, a sci-fi would be pretty difficult to pull off. For one thing, if the sun was blotted out, every living thing would freeze to death, so you'd have to come up with a reason why that doesn't happen.

Yeah, I'm feeling supernatural. If it were to be a demon, perhaps a higher ranking demon whom needs darkness to birth and nourish its spawn? That would also work with another dimension of hell. That's true and I'm not very good at scientific explanations.

This is starting to sound really cool. Maybe there can be some characters who are aware of what's happening and seek to destroy the demon responsible. Maybe others are religious fanatics who worship the demon and try to stop them from killing it.

I'm seeing cult worshippers, I'm seeing it. My character has extensive religious tattooing so I think this could all really work out. Man, I'm so lucky you're here!

Excellent! :) I'd love to play as the cult's leader. He would deliver sermons emphasizing the divinity of "the harbinger of the eternal night", and he'd probably try to sacrifice the hunters to the demon.
