The New Detroit CaliphateThe year is 2281. The New Detroit Caliphate is larger than ever, it's influence going beyond Detroit in all directions. The NDC's territory now goes as far as Flint and Lansing and they control the whole city and the northwest part of Lake Eerie. There is no prejudice or religious prosecution in the NDC, all citizens are free to practice what they will. As long it remains in the law. The majority of it's citizens are Muslim; though towns like Monroe and Sarina are predominantly Christian. Other towns have heard of the fast growing NDC and have taken steps to avoid being swallowed up by the Caliphate, not wanting to live under NDC rule. Though one wonders how they would keep them at bay, as the NDC is one of the largest factions in the northern wasteland. Despite that fact though, other towns in Michigan don't want the NDC there and are combining forces to prevent the progress of the NDC.
In 2042, the first Muslim governor of Michigan was elected. Aariz Nejem. The star of Allah. He did not know it yet, but his family would be a line of prophets of Allah. Each of them created from a star before entering the womb. Aariz did great things for Michigan. He managed to mold Michigan into a glorious state and Detroit was the most glorious city in this glorious state. And it was through his faith in Allah, did Michigan become a glorious state. But he was plagued with nightmares of death and destruction and he saw the downfall of the United States. When he awoke the next morning, he knew he must preserve his faith. In 2049 he requested a Vault be built under the capital building. Construction was finished in 2054. He started storing everything Islam in that vault, for he knew the end was coming. All the while he did this, his son Mehd, was becoming a devout Muslim and noticed this storage. He confronted his father and demanded an explanation. Aariz told him everything and said the the Nejems must preserve the Islam faith. So, Mehd helped his father and his younger brother, Misam, helped as well. By 2056, the Nejems had done all they can to preserve their faith and all they could do is wait. How long they did not know, but they waited nonetheless. They waited 21 years, and when the sirens rang, Mehd and Misam and their children and hundreds of Detroit citizens entered the vault. Aariz was the last to enter, making sure the vault was shut behind them. Aariz was 70 years old and would never see the sun again.
Aariz became leader of the vault, he called himself the Caliph and named Mehd, his eldest, Chief Imam. Misam was named Chief Scribe, to record the events of the vault. These became the highest positions of power in the vault. In those days, everyone was forced to study Islam, Muslim or no. A strict set of rules was set in place to keep order and peacekeepers were chosen to enforce these rules. These chosen were the first Ghazi. From the beginning, Mehd and Misam's children were being taught to lead the vault when it was their time. Mehd had 3 children, 1 boy and two girls, Ghatrif, Abal, and Badyah. Misam had 2 children, 2 boys, Hassam and Arbaaz. All of them were taught to lead and had the best education of all the children in the vault. Years passed and Aariz's health got worse, he knew Allah was calling to him. In 2083, he died at the age of 76. Mehd, now age 42, takes Aariz's place as Caliph and Misam becomes Chief Imam. The position of Chief Scribe is passed along to a trusted Ghazi, Zarar. When he dies, the position will be retaken by a Nejem. In 2095, Mehd opens Vault 43 for the first time in 18 years. He exits the capital building and replaces the American flag with of the symbol of Islam. That night, Mehd officially founds The New Detroit Caliphate and names himself the first Caliph of the NDC.
