Gotham City: America's Most Corrupt Major CityWelcome to Gotham City Hell, the welcoming message scrawled on signs all around the city's entrances 'greets' newcomers. If you asked any random citizen, they'd agree with the metaphor that Gotham is a tree with roots planted in Evil. Countless attempts at reform have only eaten away at the rotten infrastructure of order and relative peace, leaving obvious spikes in random violence where organized crime had been. The tree that grows from the ashes is nourished by the ashes of the men who'd built it. In spite of the most valiant efforts made to change the city for the better, there is always an immensely opposite reaction of death, poverty, and misery distributed by those who claim use fear over the fearful. But even the strong are afraid.
They used to commit murder without a second thought. But now... now they look over their shoulder if they do it at all. When they trip and fall in the mud, I hear them. I'm always watching, like a falcon over it's chicks. But they don't know what I see. They think they can get away with it all, but I guarantee that they can't. After some close calls they exaggerate what happened to them, carving a legend out for me. It is now that they realize that I am the thing that goes bump in the night. Tonight marks the third year anniversary of my quest to do the impossible, to tame the madness that fuels Gotham's flames of chaos. It has been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a separate result. As insane as I may be, I am no longer the lost-soul of Bruce Wayne. Now I am The Batman, and Gotham City belongs to me. I don't care what it takes. It is over my dead body that Gotham will continue to run rampant.

Personality: Bruce is analytical and calculating in most walks of life, the only exception being the façade he creates when he shamelessly partakes in the most unwise and wasteful of public antics. He suffers from PTSD and a mild case of insomnia that makes it difficult for him to rest fully at times. | Alfred Pennyworth | Occupation: Butler
Personality: Alfred is a sophisticated individual whose loyalty is unquestionably solid as is his grounding in his ideals. When Alfred makes a promise, especially to Master Bruce, it will be fulfilled. He is generous, caring, intelligent, and quite sociable. He has a soft spot for children, and considers Bruce to be his son. He is not particularly keen on the idea of Batman, but still enables Bruce in doing so.
Abilities: Combat Experience, Marksmanship, Engineering Experience, Medical Expertise, Tactical Expertise, and Psychological Expertise.
History: Earlier in life he had been a British Secret Serviceman. Because of Thomas Wayne's charity, he became the target of an International scandal that necessitated his protection. Alfred assisted Thomas by orchestrating a fake death, witnessed by his son, for Bruce's own protection, before being assigned the legal guardian of the young man. Alfred became like a father to Bruce, encouraging both mental and physical training. Occasionally, he'd feel guilty about hiding the fact that Thomas was still alive from young Bruce, but he'd decided it truly was necessary. When Bruce began his crusade, Alfred was more than a little against the idea, but by the first year's end, he decided to provide support so that it would go well, as opposed to ending with Bruce's demise.

History: Born in a prison, he never had a name. His mother died in childbirth and he was raised by a few of the elderly prisoners, who hid his existence. When he grew older, he trained himself physically before he literally beat every other man in the prison. He restructured the prison hierarchy with himself as king, before he left, aiming to find better places. He escaped to Gotham city, uniting several small gangs into his own army.

Personality: Manipulative, Underhanded, Self-Serving, Greedy, Cunning, and Opportunistic. He prefers to have others do his dirty work for him.
Abilities: Opportunistic Savagery, Legal, Social, and Political finesse.
History: The son of a former Gotham mayor, Oswald grew up in the lap of luxury before discovering his father's corruption. When he was a young man, he saved the life of Carmine Falcone, pushing him out of the way of a drive by shooting. As repayment, Falcone made sure Oswald always had what he needed, even giving him a territory by the docks. As Cobblepot grew older, he grew into a working relationship with Falcone. He also grew physically out of shape.

Personality: Loves to invoke fear in others to feel better about himself. Intelligent, yet shortsighted.
Abilities: Chemically induce fear
History: Formerly a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, Jonathan Crane was fired after it was discovered he'd been experimenting on the Asylum's inmates. Fleeing from arrest, he took a chemical agent he'd developed and begun to use it on the public, targeting everyone from public officials, to his childhood bullies, to complete strangers. He was eventually captured by The Batman, despite great effort.
| Edward Nashton: The Riddler | Status: Incarcerated: Arkham
Occupation: Formerly: Forensic Analyst
Personality: Technically Honest, Show-off, Sneaky. He loves to say "I told ya' so." Always admits his wrongdoings or whereabouts via riddles.
Abilities: High Intelligence, Technological Finesse, Forensic Knowledge, Knowledge of Language Sciences and nuances.
History: Edward Nashton always loved to show off how smart he was as a child. He could mentally run circles around the other children, often getting in trouble because he'd 'bent' any rules set in place. Eventually, he grew up and lent his talents to the GCPD, as a forensic investigator, occasionally solving cases before the officers would and hinting at who the true culprit was. He had so much fun with it, he eventually went off the deep end, quitting, and committing crimes to toy with his former coworkers. Later on, he was snagged by The Batman.

Occupation: Professional Criminal: Formerly: District Attorney
Personality: Erratic, sociopathic, and partially psychopathic. He makes his decisions based on the flip of a coin, which he views as the only form of true justice, equality. He is as willing to do good as he is evil, assuming that the coin is in agreement.
Abilities: High Intelligence, Legal Knowledge, Fit Physique, Leadership Skill, Basic Combat knowledge with overwhelming Speed and Opportunistic Savagery.
History: Born into a household of the upper class, Harvey and his sister Jessica grew up emotionally close to Bruce Wayne. Through High School they were considered friends, despite obvious differences in upbringing. During Bruce's disappearance, he was distraught and grieved Bruce's death, later celebrating his return, which coincided with Harvey's appointment as the Head DA. In court, Sal Maroni threw a container of acid at Harvey when half his face was hidden, plaguing the visible half with severe burns. The trauma drove Harvey insane, forcing him to become Two-Face. As Two-Face, Harvey formed a gang and began a spree of crime with emphasis on parallels, justice, and Catch-22s. He has been difficult to capture, to say the least, because of the sentiments felt by the GCPD and The Dark Knight.
This game never did go anywhere, but this had been sitting still for quite a while and I felt like sharing my work.
