[OOC] Laser Heroes of The Music Dimension

You, and possibly some of your friends, are one of several mercenary / music groups (or possibly solo acts) that have sprung up recently to combat a new threat. Several dimensions have begun to merge with our own, resulting in various creatures and attributes bleeding over and changing core things about how our world works- most noticeably, music is now a powerful force that some would describe as magic.

With properly designed equipment, a chord can become a blast of energy. A pounding bassline can become a tangible wall of force. Keytars have made a resurgence as a highly portable way to play synthetic music, and so on.

Playing these empowered instruments isn't something that everyone can do. The dimensional bleed has impacted some people more than others, and only those that happened to be particularly strongly attuned are able to use empowered instruments to their full potential. These exceptional individuals are our characters.

The threats they fight are extradimensional in origin, meaning they can be almost anything conceivable. Everything from time-lost dinosaurs, genetic cronenbergs and glow clouds have come through, and the only thing that really has much chance at stopping them is the empowered instruments, since they ALSO use energy from another dimension. Weapons from our own dimension are borderline worthless against these creatures, serving to annoy them but hurting no more than a mosquito bite.

The people and groups who use empowered instruments to fight these monsters have become the modern day celebrities, some of the songs used to fight off giant monsters becoming radio hits after the fact.

There is no common theme among the people who have the power to use the empowered instruments. There are people of all ages, genders and nationalities with these abilities, and they can show up in anywhere from big cities to settlements so small they don't even show up on a map. In some cases, the extradimensional energy does seem to have impacted their physiology to some degree, resulting in seemingly random cosmetic effects. These include exotic / unnatural hair or eye coloration, odd music-related birthmarks that look less like birthmarks and more like naturally appearing tattoos, and even stranger things. Exotic / unnatural coloration of parts of the body also occurs, and it can be everything from having blue skin to naturally pink fingernails or tongue / interior flesh glowing a bright orange.

[Primal Conundrum]

Well that's what I get for getting sick AND having to replace my computer all at once, I suppose. Probably for the best, sometimes getting stuff started is where I have the most trouble. One thing I did want to mention for this was that it would be pretty cool (not required, but cool) if people doing lyrics wanted to re-word existing songs that their character might be singing into something that fits what's happening in the RP. Anyway:

Appearance: She stands about 6'4" and has a shock of red hair reaching between her shoulder blades- she clearly doesn't put too much effort into keeping her hair neat, and it looks like it could benefit from a wash. Half the time she has a cigarette hanging from her mouth, and the common assumption that she wears sunglasses to hide her hungover, bloodshot eyes is frequently correct. Her clothes aren't anything fancy, making use of a lot of denim simply for durability. Much of it looks worn, and not the pre-worn kind.

Instrument: Modified cross between a keytar and an electric guitar (think a double necked guitar with one neck being a keytar) and vocals

Personality ((Optional)): Keeva usually comes across as a bitch. She's very much not a lady, and would probably fit in better in a pub fight than she would a red-carpet media event. She actually somewhat dislikes her powers, as having them means she can't just be a musician anymore but has a responsibility to help protect against monsters. This frustration can be helpful though, as it gives her a lot of pent up anger to take out on the monsters when they show up. On an unrelated note, she has a fairly infamous lack of manners, usually being quite direct and blunt to the point of insulting at times. She's the kind of person who wouldn't see any problem with putting her feet up on the desk while having an interview for a job.

Bio ((Optional)): Any background check on Keeva will quickly show that she was in and out of juvie through her youth, and has had on-again off-again trouble with the law since- she only gets away with half of the stuff she does now due to her status as an empowered musician. Keeva had barely been tolerated in the group she was in before her abilities manifested, and once she began having to go fight monsters she was fairly quickly booted from the group and replaced. She hasn't achieved quite the level of media popularity as some of the other empowered musicians, but that's just fine by her. She still makes decent money from her music / rewards from helping fight monsters, but nobody is entirely sure what she does with it all, beyond smoke and drink a lot of it away.

Other: If she were to have a 'signature move', it would be a riff-empowered powerslide that does way too much collateral damage.

I'd like to point out that these people are national heroes and stars, guys. As a result, there's going to be biographies published on them if they haven't written an autobiography themselves. Them not wanting to talk about their past is one thing, but that information would be out there for anyone who actually went looking for it, so it doesn't make any sense to just skip it in that field on the profile.

Likewise with personality, even if it's just a brief overview, people are going to have a rough idea how they act. Pick any famous musician of the modern era, do about 10 seconds of research and you can find some basic personality traits, even if it's just 'reclusive'.

Don't take the easy way to skip out on this, guys. Its not our characters that are reading the profiles, it's the players. If we know more about the other characters, we'll have an easier time putting them in positions where they all get a chance to shine.

Appearance: Standing around 5'10" and with a lithe body type, Remi isn't much to look at twice. With short brown hair and strange yellow eyes, not to mention his soft features that mask his real line of work. He is usually seen smiling or laughing, with only the occasional frown or grimace on rare events. His sense of style is basic to say the least, wearing only random t-shirts that are usually portraying other musicians' logos and lyrics and whatever jeans he managed to scrounge up that day.

Overlord on the other hand hides his face from the world, always wearing something that casts shadows over any of his features, such as a hood or hat. The only occasional
time he does show himself is to random groupies and in fights. The difference between him and Remi is minute, but to the observant can be seen quite clearly. He doesn't smile, he smirks, or if not that he is usually scowling. A look of annoyance at everything of around him

Name: Remi Niccals AKA Overlord

Personality ((Optional)): Remi is a polite carefree kid. Spending most of his time goofing off or trying to make some friends (and failing). He is pretty excitable and seems to have boundless energy, not a single malicious or selfish thought passing through the numbskull of his. He believes in his fight against the various monsters plauging his world, though he does have some reservations on how he has to destroy them One would be hard pressed to tell who he really was. As the stress of actually fighting got to the young man, a more darker personality splintered from him, taking the name 'Overlord'. Lecherous and chauvinistic, this other personality is not one to be reckoned with, as it seems to have a chip on it's shoulder toward everyone around it. It either wants to fight someone or make out with them. Of course it still fights the monsters, but more out of a sick delight in killing them than anything. Remi and Overlord are vaguely aware of one, but in the sense of having seen one another's works and listened to their music.

Bio ((Optional)): Remi was a nobody until a year or two ago, it can be assumed his life was pretty normal before his first appearance demoing some of his tracks. It was then that he discovered his status as an empowered musician staving off a monster attack, but also fragmenting Overlord at the same time. While he was able to make some money off of becoming a hero instead, he never really got to be much of a musician aside from the rare beats and samples he manages to save after countless fights. Overlord on the other hand worked in contrast to Remi, starting his own group, but remaining the mysterious and cagey even to them. Still, it served as a nice gimmick, helping them rise in popularity.

Other: Remi deals with the actual empowered beats and bass, but Overlord is the one who finds odd ways to put them together. They both add their lyrics to whatever they create.

[Kitty]

Appearance: Long dark brown hair that reaches her belly button, Emily stands at 5'4" with an athletic yet curved build and light olive skin. She has glowing eyes the color of a fire and she has a tribal tattoo on her right leg that is black when she doesn't play her instrument but then glows the colors of fire, looking like it is on fire when she plays the violin.

Personality: Ember is a bubbly outgoing girl who also has a feisty side to her. She puts her emotions into her violin playing because she keeps her deeper emotions hidden away.
Bio: Ember doesn't let much about her childhood out but people do know the basics. Ember was orphaned and adopted into a family after spending three years in an orphanage. No one knows about how her life in her new family was but she ended up taking up violin at the age of 8, a year after being brought into the family, and then at the age of 14 she was made a member of a MMA training club where she learned to fight and defend herself.
Ember became a well known violinist at the age of 16 when her small hometown in Alabama was attacked by a monster and she fought it off.

Bio ((Optional)):Redneck Ralph was born with a rifle in his left hand. mountain dew in the other. he was born in texas USA and was the most redneckyest person in the world. and he loved mountain dew. the mountain dew was actually healthy and could make you smart so Ralph was one of the smartest people in the world. at the age of 12 a duck once tipped over a can of mountain dew. redneck Ralph hated ducks for the rest of his life. one day he went to university but quit due to a lack of mountain dew. at the age of 21 he started playing country music. also he is a big patriot he believes that USA is better than every country in the world since it invented mountain dew.
