I am looking for players to join in a D&D 3.5 adventure based in my home brew world of Kogorune, a world based around Norse mythology and traditions. During the campaign the characters will be drawn into events that could lead the world into war once more. The gods have not intervened, monsters grow more powerful and whispers of ancient evils long gone begin to circulate. The small town of Cypher's Falls (where the PC's will begin) is no exception, mysterious events have begun to happen as of late and the townsfolk have begun to fear for their safety.

To those who would like some history of the world, I have provided a brief history containing the major events. Characters will start and level 1 and their will be no alignment restrictions. However that being said if your character has a conflict with another character due to this it is up to you the players to resolve it. Any character ideas can be either pm'd to me or posted here, as a note I do like backstory and I will try to work your backstory into the events of the game. If anyone has any questions/comments/ concerns/ or needs ideas, feel free to get a hold of me by either pm or by posting here.

History of Kogorune
Kogorune was once ruled over by one of the first races created by the gods, creatures that would become to be known as giants. They encountered strange beings upon their arrival to Kogorun, these were the first monsters, the giants drove them back with ease. For hundreds of years the giants thrived and had peace, one day the giant elders decided they had enough of the gods, wanting to be free of their creators, the giants rebelled. The gods could do nothing but allow those still loyal to them to fight on their behalf, the war raged for a century, neither side willing to give in, then Odin created a new race: humans. Both sides took this as a affront to their power and so the giants untied to fight the human invaders. The other gods saw this as a chance to end the war and so created the other races,,Skadi created the dwarves, Frey and Freya created the elvish races (with the exception of drow), Balder created the gnomes, Hermod the halflings, Tyr and Uller the orcish races. The common races banded together and forced the giants into a surrender, thus ended the Age of Giants and gave birth to the Reign of Legends.

The Reign of Legends
The common races were joined by younger races during the Age of Legends, these include the undines,,gillmen and merfolk of Aegir and Njord, the aasimar of Odin and Balder, the tieflings of Loki, the changelings and fetchlings of Hel, Thor's sylph, Odur's (and legend says Sutur as well) ifrits and the oreads of Skadi (and as with ifrits Thyrm), the drow , duergar, and svirfneblin were created as a result of the common races who adapted to existence underground. Soon the old allegiances were forgotten and the races went their separate ways, wars eruputed, heroes and empires emerged. Eventually the dust setteled and the world as we now it know emerged. The Age of Legends lasted 150 years, the legendary warrior Skijor the Undefeated set sail for the lands that lay across the Husgardan Sea, all manner of men, beast and other beings flocked to his banner and the promises of glory and wealth. What they found was the exact opposite, the two year journey ended in the tragic death of Skijor, his crew returned to the continent of Kogorune bearing his corpse. They buried him in his once proud fortress D'bitu, along with his honor guard and any willing to serve as eternal guardians. Thus the Reign of Legends ended and darkness once again descended upon the world.

The Age of Decadance
Following the death of Skijor the world plunged into a hundred years of darkness, the clerics believed that the gods had forsaken them with the death of their beloved hero. A mysterious group of clerics still retained their power, these clerics were the first necromancers, having discovered ways to bring the dead back to life. For the first time in ages the gods met in peace, but not at the request of Odin, instead Hel had summoned them. The goddess of the Underworld was losing her power and with it dominion over death. The gods could do little but wait until the right time to send aid to the world, the most unlikely of heroes emerged. A young man named Jrogar had been born into the necromantic cult rebelled against his teachings and with the aid of the druidess Farrnir Wildspeaker managed to unravel most of the cults power. Evil would not be undone so easily, for the true evil that was behind the gods loss of power emerged, a ancient undead dragon named Grazandtalus had risen in the lands south of Kogorune and corrupted the hearts of many men. The gods seeing that Jrogar and Farrnir were no match for the beast, sent a mighty weapon forged from all their powers to the pair, thus the blade "Sin Eater" made its first appearance. With Sin Eater the duo defeated the dragon and trapped what was left of its immortal soul in the blade, with the aid of the gods they sealed the blade deep with the earth, hoping none would find the now corrupt sword. The clerics regained most of their powers and through the wisdom of the collective ambassadors of the gods, necromancy was outlawed, with the Age of Decadance now over, the world began to rebuild.

The Era of Return
Now comes the current time, the world has recovered from the war Grazandtalus waged on the world. The gods have returned to their full power, civilization has slowly begun to rebuild, some provinces slower then others. But once again war looms over the world, once again the races fight each other, orcs against men, dwarves against elves, even the gnomes and halflings seemed to find a way into this war. Now more races have joined the world, the first drow, duergar, and svirfneblin emerged from their underground homes, although still rare the world feared them. A fell wind blows, what will be your part in this tale?

Been curious about participating in a 3.5e D&D game, just a few questions:

1) Will this occur on the guild or on another site (e.g. roll20)?
2) What races will be available for player characters?
3) How will stats be decided? Dice roll or point distribution?

1. It would be held here, I'm giving players a lot of trust by letting them roll the dice and just giving me the result. For combat I'll probably make a map on roll 20 and post a round by round screenshot. 2. Standard races (Humans, dwarves, elves, half-elf, half-orc, halfling, gnome), or any race without a ecl, bloodlines will also be allowed. 3. Stats will be determined by rolling them up.

Take your time, almost all classes are open, with the exception of Dread Necromancer, that is a no no

Definitely keeping that in mind. That said, bit of a noob and, while Archivist sounds like an interesting class, not sure if it should be the second class I've gotten a chance to use. Looking more at bard or rogue. Race will be a half-elf though, since I'm not sure that changelings lack an ecl.

I realized I hadn't edited it from the Pathfinder version I ran locally, so technically its a Pathfinder changeling. I will be creating a whatever the party needs character, bards and rouges are both good for helping players get a feel for the game, dumbing down archivists though wizards with divine magic essentially.

I'm thinking Cleric, is that fine?

Ps. If you have an example character sheet we can work off I'd appreciate if you post it.

Interested. Btw good man with the Dread Necromancer. Love the class, hate my players when it comes to it lol

Okay I'm thinking Orc Cleric of Tyr, I can have the Character done today but I was wondering you'd be willing to equalize the Orc's stats from the 3.5 manual since they actually take a hit on stats all total. If no, that's cool I'm still sticking with the Orc I was just curious if you'd be willing to tweak the race so it isn't taking a -2 total stat.

Cleric is acceptable, if you need detailed descriptions for the Norse gods look in Deities and Demigods. As a note my worlds are full of things like racisim, fear of certain religions and distrust of magic, so let things like that play into your character as well. Also putting it out there, Surtur, Thrym are not acceptable gods to the common races, the common races still have a massive hatred for the giants (which Surtur and Thyrm are the two main gods of). I will get a example sheet up as soon as possible, I would suggest using mythweavers since they are a free online character generator.

Themerlinhawk you can take and remove the wisdom penalty, I think orcs would have enough common sense to not have to take a penalty for it. Also below is a sample character sheet for one of my many fighters:

Sounds excellent. do you allow flaws? I'm thinking of making my Orc one handed, even if you don't allow flaws, I probably still will make him one handed.

That is all up to you, fluff is nice, just don't make it super in your face bring it up all the time fluff. Give you a example, I have a friend who made his character the "ladykiller" of the campaign and would in character use it as a insult to the paladin every time he would woo a female npc. Eventually the paladin got sick of this clapped him in irons and left him rotting in the town jail, thus ended the worst rouge I have ever seen

I was actually referring to the Mechanical component Flaw from unearthed arcana. Because while Tyr's weapon is a longsword I think for an Orc it would be more appropriate to wield a Bastard Sword one handed. So if you allow Flaws I'm going to make him one handed and use the extra feat to give him exotic weapon proficiency with Bastard Swords so he can wield them one handed.

Alright that is suitable, never really tinkered with Unearthed Arcana beyond bloodlines
