Nyah! there! Hopefully that works, feel free to bombard me with questions or ask for a further bit of expositoryness if you're in need of it, I might have fudged the actual explaining up a bit. :P I do that sometimes. But no no no, my muse is not wandering, I was simply letting myself get distracted. *sniffs* bad for business, that is.

That is some brilliant writing right there. *nodnods* Okay, I have a few random ideas floating around in my head, and sometime soon I should put them down into something coherent.

Do you have ideas on exactly what sort of sentient beings might be magically inclined? I'm naturally wary of falling back on elves and such, but would there for example be other intelligent species living alongside humans? Or ARE there humans at all? Or are magical beings less inclined toward tech and civilization and more present in natural settings?

Hmmm... I do know that there's only one or two humanly sentient magical species in this world, and elementals are one of them. There's probably one rather prolific 'mundane' species that can harness magic via harnessing other beings who are magical, but humans, or whatever you might wish to make them (and do have fun with that if you want ;)), aren't capable of using magic on their own. Though some do study it extensively anyway, to put the creatures to use. The elementals, by nature, prefer to be wherever their element is, of course, and if it's provided in a civilisation setting, they're allright with that. But the other species, and I'm thinking gryphon here... Is much more prevalent in a natural setting. They don't like progress, it means having to adapt to it and they live too long to want to adapt more than twice in one lifetime... :P

I'm assuming, for the sake of what I imagine Aylen to look like, that there is something that looks at least a little human. But if you want to go with sentient seapigs... I can always edit. :P

Kay, I gotcha! I do remember this being stated before, but thanks for the clarification. Humans it is, magic present only in natural living things or elementals. Brilliance. I've got a name and a character -- I hope you don't mind a character of the younger variety? This is sounding more of a folklore/fairytale sort of vibe, which to me seems to call for a young and blossoming mind. Say, eleven?

I do not mind at all. Whatever you would like to run with, we shall run with. :) I like running, provided it's not exercise... :P Actually, eleven is a right proper age for a first interaction with Aylen. Less chance he'll start being bitchy. Or whatever his equivalent is. I really don't know. But it is, indeed, sort of a folky story, with a dash of epic thrown in. Not epic like That's epic, but y'know,story verse stuff. Because I like imagining someone sitting their kids down to tell them the story of the EarthGiver. It sounds like it should be so much bigger than a two foot tall idol can do justice to. And it is, well, Aylen is, anyway, when he's not a figment of himself. Hee. I'm rambling...

Give her a fingerling dragon too :P Or not... I just wanna see someone with a fingerling... Because that word makes me giggle for some reason.

Just checking in, really. I have a paragraph or so, but I want it to be a good post and my head's been fuzzy lately. I can tell you, though, that her name is Agatha Eugenia Kerrigan Thrimble. Beyond that, my muse just needs to kick in. Maybe sugar's all I need. Yes.

I read that name and I started grinning like the cheshire cat. I'm not sure why, I just like the size and heft of long names for little people. And Thrimble.... Ooh, that's a good last name, that is.

It is a most delightful name, especially for a male dragon... :P And here we are. It is a short post, but I'm hoping you can see the reasons as well as I can/ for that. ;) :P

Ooohh, spooky! So let me make sure I understand: anything that is stone or gem-related in close proximity to the statue is shuddering -- or glowing if it's unable to shudder? How violently? As in, should Agatha fear for her life, or is this a subtle thing she won't notice right away?

Yep! :D And it's a more subtle thing, she might notice a faint noise if any stones are next to each other or up against a hard surface before she'd notice the actual movement or glow. He isn't very strong just now, so he can't really make the stones do much beyond vibrate or rattle a little. :P

Terribly sorry Glaw, I'm getting busier and busier, so I'll keep trying to get something out, but I don'tknow when I'll manage. The next two weeks are pretty full.
