Name: Seraphina Mae Blackblood
Gender: Female
Age: Appears to be a young teenager, perhaps sixteen or seventeen. Is actually 123 years old
Role In Circus: Hypnotist / Magician
Magic: Can delve into the mind of others and make them sense what she wishes. She can change and alter each of the five main senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch) using her words with ancient mind ritual spell chanting. She can also ‘possess’ other people by evoking her own soul into them. She can reveal the past and the present, but not the future, to those who wonder. While an illusionist manipulates things on the outside, she manipulates the inside.
Reason For Joining Cirque de Noir: Seraphina was born when the world was a cruel and unaccepting place, magic having only been just discovered in the real world. Her mothers practiced regularly with rituals and spells, as spiritualists, they were able to connect with the dead. When the locals discovered this, her birth mother was taken and slaughtered before the entire village. Her biological mother’s lover had traveled to Salem, Massachusetts, and been murdered there for practicing witchcraft. Had Mistress Sombre not been traveling through London at the time, Sera would’ve been taken and tested on, forced to endure what the villagers wanted to call ‘the search for a cure for witchcraft’.
Past Life: Seraphina was born in a small village located just a bit North of London, within walking distance of the town. She was born in 1891 to a woman of sheer beauty and strength who’d found someone to impregnate her so she and her lover could have a child. Her mothers had been vanished when they came out in the open with their relationship and went into hiding, for they were threatened to be hanged for the “sins” they committed in being with each other. Because of this, Seraphina grew up with no friends. She had a vivid imagination and created her own at a very young age. That is when her mothers knew she’d gained some sort of miraculous power because the two lovers could see their child’s friends. They could hear them, feel them, touch them, even smell them. When Seraphina grew more and her abilities began to develop, it was clear that she was strong. Her mothers taught her well how to control it and use it to her advantage. She grew with her mothers for years and years until she stopped. At the age of seventeen, she stopped aging entirely.
Sera was what many would consider to be the epitome of beautiful. She had flowing locks of raven coloured hair that glinted midnight blue in just the slightest of ways. Her eyes were violet, filled with flecks of oceanic cerulean and glistening spots of gold. Her body was slender but wasn’t really toned, more so soft and fragile. It was almost as though the wind could blow her away and knock her down. A common thing for her to wear is all black, long flowing dresses that framed her body and drifted in just the right ways. Something she always had with her, was a small butterfly pendant that hung around her neck, draped over her collar bones and rested just above her heart. This pendant was given to her by her mothers when she was just a baby, and she never let it leave her sight. The reason it was so important was because it could come to life and bring her into another hypnotic dimension where she could see her mothers again. She was able to draw from their power with her pendant, effectively making her as strong as three witches.
When she’d been alive for 71 years, her parents were taken from her. Her first mother was away to Salem and had been murdered for witchcraft. Her birth mother was taken from her and slaughtered before the entire village, Sera included. Sera watched as they cut open her mother’s skin and destroyed her. She was locked up while they brought in scientists and doctors so they could use Sera and her blood and her magic to try and find a cure for witchcraft. It wasn’t until someone, who’d said she was a doctor, came in and rescued Sera. This person was Mistress Sombre who offered Sera her life...in exchange for just one thing. She was promised the world, and so she accepted. Now, there was no escape. She signed a contract and she was officially a part of the Cirque de Noir.
