[OOC] A Certain Genetically Engineered Apocalypse [Zombie RP]

Five years ago, a terrorist organization calling itself “Chimera” unleashed a weaponized fungus engineered from Ophiocordyceps unilateralis. What started as a containable infection rapidly adapted and evolved into a lethal organism stopped only by fire or cold. What cities are left are run akin to military dictatorships… but it’s better than being outside the community walls.

Rules
1- All RPG rules apply. That being said, this RPG will be rated T to M for violence, gore, language, and the like.
2- Please be respectful to all of your fellow RP members. If two RPers start arguing, I will have to ask them to take it to PM.
3- No godmodding. This includes controlling/injuring/killing another player’s character without explicit permission, killing two hundred zombies with your thumb, or surviving a fall from 3+ stories. In a nutshell, keep it as realistic as possible.
4- All profiles must be approved by me before posting.
5- In this RP we will abide by a three-strike rule. If rules are broken, there will be consistent punishments: 1- Warning to player via PM and thread; 2- Injury of one or more characters, and a one-week ban from the RP; 3- All characters killed in the most gruesome manner possible, and permaban from the RP.

The Infection

Fungus spores are spread through the air, as well as through bites. Once the fungus has entered the host’s system, it rapidly multiplies until it takes control of the host’s nervous system. Fungal growths begin appearing on the body in a matter of hours, notably around the chest, spine, neck, and head; one can tell long a victim has been infected by the amount and size of growths on its body. Once the fungus has taken control of a host, the victim is used to spread spores further, actively seeking new hosts. Spores are regularly emitted as the body moves, and even when the body can no longer function, the fungus feeds off of it, creating more spores until there aren’t even bones left. The easiest way to avoid infection is by wearing a mask. Gas masks and medical masks work best.

Appearance: Standing at 5’11”, Alexis is thin to the point it appears a stiff wind could tip him over. His hair is a light brown, cropped short and just starting to turn grey. Alexis was once a business casual kind of guy (under a labcoat, of course), but the recent apocalypse made him reconsider his wardrobe. He’s taken to wearing a set of brown work pants, some trainers and a ratty grey zipped-up hoodie. He protects himself from fungal spores with a white woodworking facemask, having drawn a smiley face on the front.
Weapons: TZ-75, chambered in .40 S&W and carried in a hip holster, and a collection of wickedly sharp medical instruments held in handmade holsters on his person. These include an irresponsibly large amount of scalpels, a set of rib spreaders, and a bone saw.
Supplies: Foregoing more common survival supplies, Alexis packs around what he lovingly refers to as his “Portable Hospital”; a large tan molle pack stuffed to the brim with a massive assortment of medical supplies. From bandages and splints to surgical implements, and legally questionable amounts of various medications, Alexis considers himself a walking emergency room. Of course, he hasn't completely ignored other necessities such as food and water, but anything not medically related is crammed into a small butt pouch laced into the bottom of his backpack.
Personality: Alexis’ coping method for dealing with the end of the world is to largely ignore it, appearing cheerful and outgoing to the point of blatant denial.
Backstory: Alexis’ history is hard to gather, largely because of his tendency to make up ridiculous stories about how he’s learned certain things. If everything he’s stated is true, Alexis was raised in Canada, acquired two doctorates from Devry University and the University of Jamaica, was a medical officer in the Canadian armed forces, has had 4 wives, bummed around Europe for several years as a circus performer, and was an Olympic table tennis player.
