IC Post: A single sleek black craft exited the relay. They did not know what to expect within this system but these beings were vigilant, weapons were armed and ready for anything that might confront them in the darkness of space. But it was quiet and the ship proceeded, this particular system had eight planets and a single planetoid that was furthest from the star that heated the system. This system was very diverse but the beings were not here to settle they were here for research, some smugglers back at a bar in the Citadel had spoke of a place full of technology from the ancients and they had gone to investigate.

One of the planets, a planet with a red tinge to it and the fourth planet from it's home star was marked due it there being the presence of underground structures, when the beings left the system and deemed it safe a research team would come to investigate. But what fascinated them the most was the third planet from the home star. In orbit was the wreckage of what appeared to be a great battle the ancients ships had been decimated by an unknown enemy this wreckage was marked for further study as well as it was a veritable treasure trove of information and the council would be pleased. But still the beings pushed forward hopefully looking for an answer as to who or what destroyed the ancient's and their civilization.

The ships crew wanted to go to the surface of this strange planet for further marking and the captain hesitantly agreed, a shuttle was prepped and the crew proceeded. Their questions of where and what the ancients had called this planet were answered "Welcome to Los Angeles, the most famous city on Earth." It said, but when pressed for more answers it would not answer only telling them that answer was not in it's programming. The Beings left with more questions than answers their report to the council was taken under consideration but the council deemed their mission to cost intensive and it was scrapped leaving Earth alone in the darkness of space, and the beings searching for answers.

OC Stuff: Sorry about all of that, anyways imagine a milky way galaxy where Shepard lost and the reapers won and continued the cycle of wiping out all sentient beings in the galaxy so more could grow. Now you the player are one of these new species, I don't care what Tech level you start out at be it tribal or space fairing as long as at some point all of you are on the same page. This will be entirely Player Driven so in the end what you change and affect will come to reflect you the player and the galaxy as a whole. Want to restart the council? Go for it, Want to try to unite the galaxy under one banner, that's up to you. Me as a gm will just be throwing random events your way as well as news, and maybe hints and signs to a reaper invasion it's up to you if you ignore them or not.

I want to make this fun for players who are new to the mass effect universe as well as veterans to the series, and i would greatly appreciate any feedback or support you have to offer. If you have an idea for the rp you want to mention mention it here. But as i said before this is still kinda a rough draft so please bear with me while we get this all set up.

Name of civilization: The Karilac Dominion (or "The scourge" depending on who you ask)

Race(s): Karilac, Ventri

Description of race:

The Karilac are a humanoid race that stand at around 6'2'' to 6'6'' tall, they have generally medium to slim builds, and usually a slight grayish brown complexion. Their faces are built much like a humans save for a few differences, to begin with they have little to no nose, a small V shaped opening serving as their nostril and beginning of their olfactory sense. Another difference of the face arises from the pale white eyes, that are ringed by a patch of darker skin. This skin houses one of the Karilac's best senses, receptors that allow them to "see" electromagnetic signatures from other life-forms, this combined with their near perfect night vision allows them to see, even in near total darkness. Covering certain areas of their bodies (and in a claw like fashion at the end of their fingers) the Karilac have hard chitinous plates, that may have short bony protrusions among them. The females of the race have white hair that may reach as far down as the mid back and braided into various fashions that indicate hive and clan. Finally all Karilac have small openings on their body (usually on an arm, though some rare cases have them on the torso) where the Karilac's Ventri are housed beneath their skin.

The Ventri are small, carnivorous, winged insect like creatures (usually no bigger than a dollar coin) that live within the Karilac in a symbiotic manner. They have incredibly sharp teeth and jaws for their size, and will mercilessly and voraciously tear into any prey, save for the Karilac (who seem to be able to control the Ventri almost telepathically). Unless provoked (or ordered) they are actually fairly docile, preferring to rest within the relative safety of their chosen Karilac, but will sometimes emerge as if to survey their surroundings. Each Karilac can carry a swarm of Venri that usually number near 20 or so.

Due to Sele (the Karilac/Ventri homeworld) having a very thin atmosphere, and it's orbiting of a Red Dwarf star, Sele is a cold rocky world where the surface is for the most part barren expanses of mountains, flatlands and spires. This has caused the Karilac, Ventri and most other species to evolve and live in the honeycomb of underground tunnels beneath the surface. This is where the Karilac cities lie, their central hubs centered in huge caves with the tops of their buildings even emerging from the ground as the aforementioned spires. But also due to this harsh environment the Karilac and Ventri can actually survive in a vacuum, or without air, for much longer than most, but will still eventually die without a suit.

Average lifespan of race: 150 - 200 standard years

Government of race: Hard to explain. The Karilac are broken up into sections called "Hives" and then further broken up into Clans. This has led some scholars to believe that they share some relation to how insects set up their Hives. But this is false. There are no Hive queens, drones and so on. Instead there is actually an intricate social structure with individuals known as Exarchs leading individual hives, who come together to choose a Prelate, who has the ultimate say about things such as warfare, internal conflicts, treaties and so on.

Military description:

Arms

Karilac standard infantry weapons utilize a high powered rail gun like design, aided by a compact Mass effect battery. The ammunition used by these weapons are slim shards of various super hard alloys wrapped in a light mass effect field. The slimness, sharpness, hardness/density, and speed of the ammunition gives it great armor penetration, while the mass effect coating helps it resist shields (if not completely bypass them, though this is a rare occurrence) and limits velocity (and mass) lost to air resistance. These weapons come in various forms from Assault Rifles, to smaller Pistol variants, Very high powered sniper rifles, and finally Flechette Cannons (which fire multiple shards shotgun style).

All infantry also carry a long blade that they can switch to in case of CQB, these blades while they appear crude, are actually quite effective. Their blades are mad up of the same materiel as warship hulls, and while they may not have the shield penetrating capabilities of the other weapons, when wielded correctly, they are still a very capable weapon.

The Ship to Ship weapons of the Karilac are derived from much the same design scaled up for ship use, the only differences being the size of round, the speed of the round, and the strength of the mass effect coating on the round, all of which goes into allowing the round to penetrate shields (as there is no reason to protect against velocity loss). This causes the rounds fired from Karilac ships to appear much like an energy bolt as the trail of the coating gives off a static like discharge.

Armor

Vanguard Armor: The standard Karilac infantry armor, that appears to be a super hard form of chitin layered together over a metallic under-suit, with openings for the Ventri. As with most all Karilac armor the Vanguard armor has a removable face mask that is routinely kept on/closed when not in a dark environment to help limit light damage to their hyper sensitive eyes. While appearing like armor grown or made out of natural components the Vanguard armor pattern is actually quite durable and advanced, using kinetic shielding and many other systems that are housed within the armor.

Darkheart Armor: The infiltrator variant, a slimmer variant that is usually colored a deep black, it is only slightly less durable but unlike other patterns, the face mask of the Dearkheart doesn't have any visor, instead opting for a closed helmet with systems that enhance the Karilac's natural electromagnetic sensing abilities.

Hiveguard Armor: Large, bulky, and some of the strongest armor in existence, the Hiveguard pattern of armor is routinely seen on the front lines alongside it's lighter cousin the Vanguard. Multiple shield emitters add to the already bolstered durability by adding a three layered multi-phase shielding system, allowing for one system to kick in if another goes down. The only downsides to the Hivegaurd Armor is it's size and weight, though these can be mitigated by training

Specialized units

The Selene: While all Karilac have some type of latent biotics (shown in their ability to control the Ventri with thoughts) the Selene take it one step further. Able to influence the universe around them, they are a combination of specilized soldiers (with their ability to cause spatial warps and kenetic barriers) and specialized medics of the Karilac armies.

Cleansing Swarm: Sometimes Ventri swarms can grow to numbers beyond counting, the only able to exist within the hive ships, and if left unchecked will strip swaths of land of any biotic materiel, even tearing through armor. These swarms are the Cleansing swarms, unleashed only if the Karilac see little to no alternative, as even they hesitate to unleash such a swarm.

Hive Ships: 1 parts super-cap, 2 part super-carrier, 1 part planetary assault ship. Absolutely massive, the Hive ships the the pinnacle of the Karilac fleets, out gunning all other ships in the Karilac fleets with their massive arrays of ship to ship weapons and hundreds of strike craft and bombers. They are also used in planetary assaults, unleashing multiple Cleansing Swarms and countless ground troops. There are two hive ships that are larger and stronger than the other hives, the Alara and Mia, named after the sisters of myth.

Doctrine

The doctrine of the Karilac military can be broken up into two main sections, The Overwhelming surprise, and the Unsaleable Tide. The Karilac work well in the dark of space, lulling any enemies into a false sense of security and comfort before bearing down on them in a swift surprise maneuver. This is usually called the Overwhelming suprise, an is broken up into various sub categories and tactics that run along the same thought. But when surprise isn't an option, or is unusable, the Karilac usually fall back to a group of tactics known as the Unsaleable Tide. All tactic employ some degree of randomness (at least as it appears to outsiders) and so may be changed on the fly, and making them hard to adapt to when fighting the Karilac.

Religion: The Religion of the Karilac is based in the traditions of the species. Various rituals mark the practice, most notably the use of masks, which has persisted in religious ceremonies to this day. The central ideal of the religion is the reverence, an worship of two figures known as the Sisters (named Alara and Mia). While these figures are not considered gods in the traditional definition of the word, they are revered for various acts that shaped the Karilac's past, and by extent their future. Among these acts is the gift of total control over the Ventri, as legends tell the ancient Karilac only had rudimentary control over their winged symbiotes, but after the arrival of the sisters they developed the ability to manipulate them with their thoughts, forever changing their relationship, and the fate of the Karilac. It should be noted, as an object of interest, that in all depictions (art, murals, masks, etc.) the Sisters are not depicted as Karilac, instead they are depicted with light blue tinted skin and various other features that are not native to the Karilac form.

Description of your society and race:
The technology of the Karilac, from weapons and ships to armor and so on, all seem to have some semi biological component to them. (For reference, think of collector technology, armor and weapons, but with better aesthetics).

While outsiders who do not interact with the Karilac might see them as closed and frightening, fitting of the name The Scourge. But in reality they are actually very well refined, their underground tunnels and cities covered with art spanning the eons, they are poets and artisans of many a fine art. As such they come across as something of a paradox to those who do know them, both the frightening Scourge and the refined Karilac

Name of civilization: Drahss Federacy
Race: Drahss
Description of race:
Drahss are a L-ammino race, carbon-based and oxygen-breathing, standing anywhere around eight and ten feet in eight. They are bipedal viviparians, with slim bodies - an evolutionary response to their homeworld's high atmospheric density - and a soft and reflective skin; its color varies from a really pale teal to a dark green, usually standing the average individual in the middle of them, with a watered green. Their upper body is, compared to the lower one, significantly thinner, whereas most of the muscular density is in their legs, widely bowed backwards, that gives them flexibility and agility unknown to many other species, allowing large and accurate jumps.
They share several features with Quarians, like an unusual third foot toe, but mostly with their creation, the Geths. In fact they have elongated neck, almost impossible to distinguish from the skull; the latter is characterized by the presence of two mandibles stretching onwards, and a single, slightly outside of the ocular cavity, compound eye, formed by hundreds of individual reflective bluish hexagonal photoreceptor units; this grants them an eyesight comparable to that of other species, though somewhat limited in scope of vision. However, Drahss also use a subconscious echolocation system, which naturally helps them in perceiving the space that surrounds them. For this reason, particularly strong ultrasounds tend to destabilize the Drahss, although not substantially crippling their cognitive or physical abilities.
Nose and mouth usually escape an alien's attention, being them almost invisible and fused with the skin: the nostrils are hidden under the mandibles, composed of one pair for each side; the mouth, located under the eye, is lipless, and composed of two layers of teeth. Their pattern and shape reseamble much that of humans, hinting an omnivorous nature.

Military description:
One thing that Drahss wouldn't probably understand of other civilizations would most likely be war. Having always lived in an environment without a life chain as harsh as other planets, and so favourable for the formation of peaceful and static societies, Drahss have never experienced a full out war, or a subsequent total annihilation of a culture or group. For this reason, Drahss warfare has adapted to sly and fast tactics, easily permitted by their slender bodies, thus resulting in ancient times in a costant assasination 'warfare' between hostile leaders, hardly harming civils. However, after the discovery of one of Liara's black boxes, simultaneously with Prothean artifacts and ruins on Krothurn's lush moon, Ladae, many governments united together under the project of an organized armed group that would protect both their nations and extra-planetary colonies. Soon, with the unification of Krothurn, the fleet was organized in the modern shape, built on the model of turian one.

Surely the strength of Drahss ground armies lies on stealth and hasteness. Particularly unefficient in frontal assaults, Drahss warfare is naturally set on hit and run strategies, where big and powerful blows can be achieved without heavy losses. This applies also to Drahss navy, organized in many little platoons, often lead by a small cruiser, whose main cannon -built having in mind a smaller and less money-eating dreadnoughts gun, probably using as reference the blue prints of Quarian civil ship's one- fire-strength matches that of many races' bigger ships. Queer however is how much more they excell in building cannons than using them.
Their natural engineering affinity led to the design of ships highly cured both logistically and aesthetically, increasing exponentially their efficiency with many different hulls patterns for every layer of the ship. The rationalization of inner structures and materials awards the Drill fleet with an high maneuverability and adaptability to situations.

After the discovery of an incredibly rich eezo deposit in their home system, Drahss were capable of developing the mass effect fields technology even before they found Liara's black box. For this reason, their first ship assents were very different from those of the Citadel, composed of reflective isotopes that permitted the storage of sun-light through solar panels. Moreover, this permitted Drahss to elaborate an unique shield pattern on their own, more resistant to kinetic bullets than Citadel's one, although decrasing their efficiency against lasers.

No biotics have been spotted, nor implants have been ever suggested; for this reason, Drahss biotic affinity is totally unknown.

Basically, as a summary, Drahss are far more proficient in building complicate and efficient ships than using them, instead excelling in stealth, medical and logistic fuctions.

Religion: The Drahss, having developed under the genial eyes of their creators and the stream of spirits, have a strong sense of spiritualism, and most of them believe everything in the universe having a soul emboding the very essence of the being, which shares a deep and unknowable bound with the rest of existence. Basically without a name, it dates back to the first Drahss societies, as an evolved form of a more primitive cult of ancestors; what influenced mostly this evolution was probably the unusual solar activity of Olia during the neolithic age of Drahss species, probably dating around the Beestonian stage for mankind, that determined an almost constant presence of auroras in all Krothurn highly magnetic ionosphere. Today the phenomenon is still very active, and it is believed that no Drahss can be considered as such without having seen at least once in a life time Krothurn's 'stream of spirits'.
Their religion is not based on menial rites and formulas, nor has revelatory or salvific characteristics: basically a pantheism, fatalistic and perpetually optimistic. In a universe ruled by mad mathematical laws each individual strives between the other spirits of the cosmos in search of his own fulfillment.

Name of civilization: United Federation of Independent Star Systems (UFISS or AaROK in Hypassi, the predominant Kimo Language)
Race: Kimo
Description of race: The Kimo are short and stubby mammals (at only about a metre in height) compared to a human, they are physically weak, have poor environmental tolerance and a poor natural frame. They are however quite smart and cunning which makes them capable of some very impressive feats of engineering, science, economy, politics and tactics.

Their homeworld of Soto orbiting the star Sithar boasts a great variety of climates. Most are quite
temperate and would have been highly suited for human habitation, unfortunately, Kimo evolved
in a tropical environment where temperatures rarely dropped below 30°C and given their low
environmental tolerances, they could not survive for long in such conditions. In fact, what a
human would consider room temperature would actually cause hypothermia in a Kimo therefore,
for most of their history, the Kimo species lived exclusively in the equatorial regions of their
homeworld, only managing to colonise ‘colder’ regions very slowly. This made comfortable living
space into one of their most treasured resources, sparking many armed conflicts.

It also forced the Kimo to be very environmentally minded, always developing clean technologies
to preserve the delicate balance of their planet’s climate. As a result, the Kimo never developed
nuclear technology and instead harnessed the power of the sun and wind. This combined with
sustainable agriculture to feed their herbivory species and their natural tendency to require very
little water makes them perhaps the sentient species with the smallest environmental (and
perhaps also literal) footprint.

As Kimo populations grew and armed conflicts for living space became ever more prominent, a
more peaceful initiative was launched by several nation states to colonise Tamo, one of Soto’s
three large moons. It was the perfect candidate for such an initiative since Tamo possessed an
atmosphere that could easily be terraformed by means of introduced plant species to allow for the
construction of typical underground habitation complexes and farms above ground. These days,
advanced ‘planetary maintenance’ facilities ensure that just about the entire moon is kept at a
stable temperature, perfect for Kimo habitation, so that the people can live comfortably above
ground without risk. In fact, conditions on the moon were often of better quality than most ‘cold’
colonies on Soto itself so more and more funding was allocated to colonise other bodies within
their solar system leading to a veritable golden age of space exploration and relative peace since
for the first time in Kimo history, living space was no longer scarce. The federation was first
founded in those years to maintain this peace between the many nation states that had colonised
other worlds and even the new independent nations that had developed in those places. Still,
wars were fought but unlike the wars of the past, they were usually ended quickly and with
relatively few deaths.

Over the centuries, even the many bodies of the Sithar system began to suffer from over
population and so once again, the Kimo set out to find new horizons to explore and settle. Other
solar systems were reached by means of conventional live-ships, lacking FTL drives and more
and more worlds were settled. Until a tremendous find was made. An ancient ship was
discovered on a deserted planet where Turian survivors of the reaper war (which lasted decades
after Shepard’s death and the defeat on Earth) had tried and failed to build a new life.

That discovery ushered in yet another golden age of development for the Kimo but also made
them incredibly scared of the unknown. A data file, the so called ‘Shepard’ found among the
remains of the ancient colony carried a warning, now known to all Kimo. They are not alone and a
terrible evil lurks in the black depths of space to swallow up any that dare rise too high.

The Federation was quick to seize upon this new fear and immediately began an intense
militarisation campaign. The Turian ship’s FTL drives were reverse engineered, as were its on
board weapons, chiefly, the Thanix cannons and this knowledge was used to build the largest
fleet in the known galaxy with 71 dreadnaughts (almost twice the size of the Turian navy at the
start of the reaper war, the 30 most modern of which are kept on active duty while the rest are
either held in docking to await deployment in times of war or mothballed, though with the option of
reactivation in emergency situations.

Their massive fleet and small but highly professional ground army allow the federation to create a
great sense of security for the hundreds of worlds within their domain as well as keep them in line
should any get thoughts of rebellion and true independence. It is the latter that is perhaps most
necessary since Kimo expansion has been constant throughout their spacefaring history and their
domain now encompasses hundreds of stars within their home cluster. Given Kimo nature, it
would only be a matter of time before more established colonies would tear away and continue on
their own without a strong hand to guide them, which in turn would leave all Kimo everywhere
weakened for the time when the great evil rears its ugly head.

Now, after the discovery of the closest mass relay in what was once Batarian space, a long
distance away from their home star, another frontier has opened for the Kimo, though they are
slow to embrace it. Massive military bases were founded on either side of the relay and only
military vessels are permitted to pass through and chart the rest of the relay network. Other
sentient and spacefaring life forms have since been discovered but the federation has not yet
made contact with them for fear of being forced into its first major galactic engagement that would
no doubt weaken them in the face of the great evil.

Government of race: United Federation Federal Parliament (UFFP or ARRT in Hypassi)
The Federation is a federal form of government where member worlds an nations are granted
great independence in many matters such as their national laws and granted the protection of the
massive Federation fleets in exchange for paying taxes to the Federation and supplying raw
materials and knowledge for continued development. Each member state and world is allowed to
send delegates to represent them in the Federation Parliament where they will have the right to
vote on all matters concerning ‘the greater good’ such as interplanetary and inter system trade
and military activity.
This parliament gathers every Sithar year (roughly 1.2 solar years) and keeps a constant forum
on ‘Tarotho Station’ orbiting the Kimo homeworld of Sota.

Military description:
As a result of their long history of warring nations, the Kimo actually consider themselves a
warrior race. Sadly Kimo soldiers would not last long in close quarters combat against most
other species although assault rifles do tend to be powerful equalisers.
Their land based forces are of a high professional standard but are frequently
outmatched by stronger and faster species. After all, their land forces are mainly equipped and
trained to deal with small (on a galactic scale) insurgencies and not to conduct high level
operations on alien worlds.

It is their navy where the Kimo truly shine. As stated above, they have the largest navy in the
known galaxy, boasting some of the most technologically advanced vessels around. Their race’s
small size and physical weakness don’t matter much when in space and so they would prove a
considerable challenge for any race with the desire to declare war on them. Although their lack of
an effective ground force could prove difficult.

Councillor Baron Bistri Vas Doro Na Milaski, federation representative for Polthiro, one of the most powerful systems in the Federation. He represents his star system’s government in the parliament.
Professor-doctor Kas Need, chief science advisor for the Federtion parliament and lead researcher of the Tsoni institute (named after the ancient author of the ‘Shepard’ warning) she leads all research projects concerning the great evil and the Shepard warning.
General Basal Nom Dako Di Mos, commander in chief of the Federation army and Marine forces. He is in charge of all planetary military activity and fleet security.
Master-spy Hal Hel Hira, director of the Federation Intelligence Service. Despite the archaic title, her office is quite effective at monitoring all internal activity within the Federation domain.

Religion: The Kimo know a great variety of religious persuasions which are all allowed due to the federal laws for religious freedom of its member systems, provided they do not violate other federal laws. The most widely practised form is that of ‘the temple of Dido’ which believes in the so called ‘life force’ “Dido” that permeates the entire galaxy.

Military description: Arms: their weapons consist of specialized vapor weapons although they would look like normal swords they are made with special materials that they can (as the name suggests) turn to a harmful vapor like gas to poison the enemy it takes many years of training to handle such a weapon.
Armor: their armor is their own feathers, to explain as seriphians they have the ability to harden their feathers to be strong as iron those that have extensive training will have whats called "divines grace" and have feathers that will be as hard as a diamond but its rare,
Doctrine: their doctrine is their belief that they are serving their divine in fighting for them they believe that in pain they become closer to them and in death they reach their side of whoever they have favor from. To be a warrior and to die in battle is the greatest of honors
history: their is said to be a history that these beings appeared on earth and as a result they learned from each other while the humans learned that seriphians were considered messangers from their holy being the seriphians learned how to make weapons and to advance in their own culture discovering that the ability of flight was a great boon for them that they could take to their advantage in battle so as a result they went back to their own planet and learned how to advance themselves beyond being a tribal people.
any specialized units: their are those that have been given special gifts that are said to come from the divine that they can become the vapor itself, these seriphims are trained to be both spies and warriors able to turn into vapor to go in any area and to avoid any slash although they are not without weakness that if they become vapor and cant maintain their focus they would end up hurting themselves by forgetting to put a piece of their body back to solid form and injuring themselves.

the changing winds, as the seraphians that can turn into vapor are called they are the divine bloodlines elite guard and specialized attack units however since their are so few of them they are mainly royal guards unless a war breaks out. the high priests are the advisors to both the monarch and the people being the go between for both, they are what one would consider diplomats with divine purpose although its not unheard of that a normal seraphian can become one.

Then flip side to that coin is marinath the god of destruction and conquering he is believed to be the embodiment of the toughest, and greatest warrior that went down a dark path and by the hand of the divine was forced to serve him as his warrior and general and oversee the dead that die on the battlefield to the divines side while those of impure hearts go to him to become his own screaming hell hole of servitude to only him.

Name of civilization: The Nur'xal Coalition (The Coalition or NC for short)
Race: The Nur'xal
Description of race: Asking what the average Nur'xal looks like is a hard question; Due to a religious schism early on in the history of their people which was only worsened by the discovery of space flight and colonization of other planets, the Nur'xal people have evolved down four different paths and thus look very different from each other. The only reason their considered the same species at all is because they can still interbreed.

Nur'xal who followed the Warrior god of their people stand proudly at an impressive average of two meters but it isn't that strange for some to be two and a half or three meters tall. Bipedal reptilian creatures with dark red, thick scales that can often block all but the strongest blades and luckiest bullets, the Nur'xal of the Warrior god Angron are born with enhanced physical strength, endurance and a maw full of teeth that can bite into rock easily. Between the harsh and often brutal life that is the Angron Nur'xal's roaming warbands and the outright murderous death world named Angron on which they willing live for religious reasons only the strongest, smartest and luckiest live to reach adulthood.

The Nur'xal who followed the path of Fulgrim, Goddess of art, pleasure and perfection average around one and a half meters tall. Fulgrim Nur'xal tend to be beautiful to behold, their scales ranging wildly in an array of different and often pleasing colors and their features breath taking. This is largely because the followers of Fulgrim quickly discovered and then pushed the fields of enhancement surgery in order to aid in their never ending quest for beauty and perfection. Since each Nur'xal has a different idea of what perfection means, Fulgrim Nur'xal tend to have very individual appearances.

The Nur'xal who follow Magus, God of Science, Scheming, Change and as of late Biotics are the smallest of the Nur'xal by standing at an average of one to one and a half meters tall. While Magus Nur'xal tend to have blue scales, their major claim to fame is their wide range of mutations. Driven by a need to discover and understand the universe around them, the discoveries of the Magus Nur'xal often come at the price of their physical health, sometimes on a genetic level. While the more harmful mutations are regularly culled from the population for the greater good, it isn't strange to see Nur'xal with extra fingers, webbed toes, addition eyes ect.

The Nur'xal who follow the teachings of Mortarion (God of Life, Death and Rebirth) stand at about a meter and a half on average with green or brown scales. Mortarion Nur'xal often appear sickly and ugly for their kind, a trait much more noticeable when standing next to others of their kind; This is because Mortarion Nur'xal are immune to just about ever poison or illness imaginable due to extensive usage of vaccinations and bio-engineering over countless generations. They might be the ugliest and appear to be the sickest of their race, but followers of Mortarion by hell the healthiest.


Average lifespan of race:
Followers of Angron are considered adults at age fifteen and tend to die young due to their lifestyle.
Followers of Magus and Fulgrim are considered adults at age eighteen and have a natural average lifespan of 80 to 100 years.
Followers of Mortarion are adults at age eighteen and have an average lifespan of 100 to 150 years, if not more.

Government of race: There are in fact five different government bodies in the Nur'xal Coalition, but all of them are meritocracy based heavily in theocracy. Each of the four holy planets rules itself and its domains interdependently while the capital planet of the Coalition is considered neutral ground and is thus the seat of the Coalition as a whole.

Military description:
History: Each branch of the Nur'xal's religion arms and maintains its own armed forces. The reason for this goes all the way back in the history of their people to the first crusade. According to legend, when the Nur'xal people were still young two scaleless beings from the dark void above descended onto the planet, bringing with them prophecy of the void gods and their plans to lure their people into a trap to feast on their souls. Several tribes abandoned the old gods in order to unite under the banner of the Shepard and formed the first Empire. In the name of the Shepard, they went out to unify the Nur'xal people by sheltering the weak and crushing the strong that refused to bow down to their false god.

The remaining tribes that followed the Old Gods, aware that they were unable to stand against the full might of this false Empire alone, grudgingly put aside their differences and united under the banner of the First Crusade. The resulting war would last for over two hundred years with the tides of war turning often; While Imperial forces worked better as a united force then the servants of the Old Gods, the servants of the Old Gods were stronger on an individual level then those fighting the Empire. As time went by, corruption, politics and agents of Magus and Fulgrim started to weaken and rot the Empire from within while the agents of Mortarion unleashed devastating plagues in towns and cities of the Empire, crippling and killing much of the population in the process. With the Empire wasting away from the inside to inner conflict, apathetic corruption and plague, the warriors of Angron rained down death blow after death blow until finally the Empire buckled and collapsed, marking the Crusade as a success.

Even as the last few Imperial cities were being mopped up by the Crusade, the leaders of the tribes gathered in order to discuss the Void God prophecy that had been granted two hundred years prior. While they still condemned the Shepard as a false god, they were not foolish enough to cast aside the prophecy and thus discussed how they should respond to it, as well as working out how a post crusade world was going to work between them.

In the end the Nur'xal Coalition was born; A loose alliance in the face of greater enemies to them and the gods but otherwise they would be interdependent nations onto themselves. The formation of the Coalition also established a mutual understanding that they would no longer attempt to wipe each other out completely, but raids and minor wars are still fairly common between the factions.

Doctrine: Each branch of the Nur'xal armed forces follows a doctrine that is in relation to their patron god.

The warriors of Angron favor strength above all else Where others would duck and see shelter, the warriors of Angron charge into the fray with melee weapons and thick armor designed to withstand bullets in a berserk fury. The charge of an Angron berserker has often been likened to a rock slide; Between their armor and natural toughness, an Angron in charge is next to impossible to stop. While measures can be taken to protect an area from a rock slide, those measures often require time and effort done in advance of the event itself... and you only get one chance to see if you efforts were good enough. Angron followers shun biotics, deeming them the crutches of lesser warriors. While the Angron's favor melee combat, they can and will use ranged weapons and armored vehicles if the situation calls for it; But they know in their souls the only real glory in combat is up close and personal.

The followers of Magus favor cunning and intelligence over brute force. It is rare that they will take to the battlefield openly unless it is part of a grander plan on their part; It is a common saying that when the followers of Magus join the battle you've already lost the war in at least five different ways, the fun is merely in finding out how they are going to win. Masters of feints, ambushes and biotics, the forces of Magus often follow the wisdom of their patron and their battle plans tend to become schemes within schemes, covering a wide number of possible outcomes and allowing for quick and easy adaption to changing circumstances. In truth, those who follow Magus prefer to ensure victory outside of battle, often setting the events of victory in mention long before battle lines are drawn. While solders of Magus don't have to be biotic, most of them are.

The followers of Mortarion follow a very simple creed in combat; No matter what is thrown at you, you can endure it. Much like their counterparts who follow Angron, Mortarion followers also wear heavy armor to protect themselves; The main difference between them is why. The Mortarion's are masters of biological warfare and unleashing weaponized entropy has always been their creed; This has required them to don air tight suits of armor in the past in order to avoid consuming themselves with their own attacks. Countless raids and wars have also taught them the value of making that armor as strong as possible so that the odd bullet won't rupture the suit and break the air tight seal. While generations of bio-engineering has made some Mortarion bloodlines next to immune to their own biochemical weapons, they continue to make their armor air tight, strong and thick out of tradition as much as tactical value. Mortarion's also highly value those who commit themselves to medically treating their peers.

The followers of Fulgrim are somewhat different from their peers in that they do not seek to dedicate themselves to a single aspect of war. The forces of Fulgrim welcome all weapons and fighting styles under their banner, from melee combat to sniper experts to whip users and more. What matters to the followers of Fulgrim is that no matter what weapon you used, you sort to be the best to ever use it and thus leave a high bar for those who followed you to overcome. Victory comes when they are greater then their enemies and defeat comes when they failed to seek perfection hard enough.

The Caretaker of Medrengard- The ruler of the original Nur'xal home world and elected by the rulers of the four Holy worlds of the Old Gods.

The Concave of Medrengard- A five person council that is made up of the Caretaker of Medrengard and each of the four rulers of the four Holy worlds that gathers on Medrengard to discuss matters that effect their people as a whole, rather then just their individual factions. A Concave can be called by any of the members of it and it is an accepted agreement by all parties that there will be a state of truce between all factions until the Concave is finished. Attempts to breach the truce or to launch a coup to replace one of the faction leaders during a Concave will be met by all four faction uniting to punish the pact breaker and those stupid enough to ally themselves with them.

Religion: The Nur'xal are devote followers of a pantheon of four gods, often called the Old Gods. Despite the fact that all four of their gods belong to the same pantheon, they are factious by nature to the point that with the exception of their home world of Medrengard, the Nur'xal people have formed their own interstellar nations in worship of one of the four gods and will regularly wage war on each other for sport, resources and to demonstrate why their patron god is the greatest of the four.

Medrengard is special for the fact that it is considered neutral ground for all sides to meet and put aside their differences for various reasons so all four gods are worshiped openly and with relative equality. It tends to be home to those members of the Nur'xal people who either worship more then one patron god or who care about the advancement of the Nur'xal race and their gods as a whole rather then merely serving a single patron aligned faction.

Description of your society and race:
Most of it has been described above. However, it should be noted that due to the Void God prophecy the Nur'xal are inherently paranoid of alien technology. While they have found evidence of mass effect technology from older races, all of it is kept isolated and studied over a period of decades as the Nur'xal tear it apart piece by piece in order to understand the secrets of how it works on a fundamental level. Even once a piece of tech as been deemed safe to reverse engineer, they don't fully do so in favor of using bits and pieces they learned tearing the tech apart in the first place to help enhance something that they have created themselves.

So far, the five planets held by the Nur'xal Coalition are Medrengard, Angron, Typion, Callax and Tizca. The colonization process began over two hundred years ago.

Medrengard and Tizca are both earth like garden worlds, however Tizca itself was different from Medrengard on account of the insanely high amount of rich eezo deposits found all over the planet. It was one of the main reasons that the followers of Magus laid claim to the planet as their own. The heavy mining of eezo has resulted in many of the Nur'xal on Tizca to become mutated in some way and almost all of the Tizca Nur'xal have biotic abilities. While every now and then they have to cull off some of the more dangerous and unstable of mutations, the residents of Tizca largely accept it as a small price to pay for knowledge and power.

Callax started off as a barren world (think Mars). There was evidence that there had once been water on the planet now it was little more then a barren rock covered in sand with howling winds and dust storms. Where others would have moved on to find a better world, the followers of Fulgrim stopped and laid their claim. The Fulgrim looked at the barren world and saw a blank slate for them work with to create a perfect world to reflect the glory of themselves and their goddess. Terra-forming the planet over the course of two hundred years, Callax is now a garden world and home to several cities dedicated to the arts, culture and a hedonistic desire for perfection and beauty in the name of the Goddess Fulgrim. The worshipers of Fulgrim continue to terraform Callax because much like their own personal quests for beauty and perfection the ascension of Callax from a waste of rock to a perfect world may never be finished.

For the most part, the planet of Typion is covered in poisonous swamps and jungles. The only reason it wasn't labeled as a death world is because there are sections of the planet that are actually safe to set up a settlement without having to worry about everyone dying because of the poisonous local fauna. The followers of Mortarion set up shop here because the planet offered them a wide range of new things to discover, such a poisons, chemical weapons and medical breakthroughs. Two hundred years on and their are a couple of modest cities on the planet, almost all of which are dedicated to discovering the secrets of Typion and figuring out how to weaponize them for their advantage.

Once upon a time, the planet later called Angron was believed to be a habitable planet. Sure, much of it was barren wastelands but there were forests, oceans and wildlife living there already and the air was breathable... It wasn't until an attempt to set up a settlement was made that Angron bared its fangs for all to see. In the three days it took for the first supply shuttle to arrive on the planet to drop off supplies, out of five hundred settlers only forty three were left alive. They brought with them a tale of how everything on the planet, including the planet itself at times, was trying and often succeeding in murdering them. They even had video footage of the carnage that started two minutes after they had gotten off the ship. The planet was abandoned and was rightly labeled as a death world.

When the warlords of Angron saw the video footage of what had happened to the failed settlement, the various warbands put aside their differences to unite under a single banner with the express intent to embrace this gift from Angron himself and conquer the world he had provided for them. While the unity didn't last all that long due to the warband's infighting nature, it did last long enough for the warbands to arrive on the now named planet Angron and openly declare war on it. Two hundred years later and both sides are still going strong, refusing to back down until the other submits and dies. The warbands and tribes that now roam Angron tend to be nomadic in nature and prone to attack each other for supplies as readily as the animals that call the death world home.
