WW2 Polish Resistance RP

What?

September 1st 1939. The Nazis launch an attack on Poland, which was occupied in less than a month, thanks to the Nazi Army's superior technology and manpower. It was oppressed by the SS, SA and the Gestapo until the end of the war, including the mass murder of about 3 million jews as part of the Final Solution. During that time, the Polish Resistance brewed in the underground, trying to drive the fascists away from their land. The RP will center around resistance members and their actions against the Nazis.

Will it be historically accurate?

Initially, yes, but the players may take the game wherever they want to - from scavenging for supplies to blowing up railroads to killing Nazis.

What will be the tone?

Depends on the players. It can be a pitch dark comedy or a serious, semi-historically accurate simulation. Everything goes.

NO FUCKING WAY. I've been waiting for this a long while. Count me in, I have already got a trio of characters in mind, that would fit the time period. Since this is literally my family history (I'm a 3rd Generation Pole in England), and I know the time period very well , I'd love to be involved. Also, the language is something I know too, so if in doubt, ask and I can help.

Great to know there's a big history enthusiast interested in this period. I'm an Israeli Jew, as matter of fact, so I'm interested in WW2 Poland as well.

I've wanted to do this for a while and I was considering running one myself, except I didn't think there'd be enough interest. I've run French Resistance and Filipino guerrilla themed RP's though, but I just never quite got around to doing Poland.

Are we going to be concentrating on a specific area of Poland, such as Warsaw itself? Urban resistance in places like Warsaw happened a lot later than resistance in the countryside by partisans, so it's a useful thing to work with. Also, are we positive about 1939 as the timeline? It seems like things really pick up in 1942 more or less, but I'm fine with earlier.

Also, if you like, I can happily make sure to clue in a couple dedicated historical RP'ers about this and get you some more people.

For my end, I'll probably play a Jewish partisan, it's an easy shot for me.

The RP will focus on Warsaw, yes. I was actually planning to have a prologue sequence with the creation of Służba Zwycięstwu Polski one day before the fall of Warsaw in September '39, and from there to the creation of the Armia Krajowa (Home Army), the main resistance group operating in Poland, and the one that initiated the Warsaw Uprising in '44.

Another thought I had: Players can play as members in charge of one of the many different bureaus of the Armia Krajowa (i.e. Operations, Intel, Logistics, etc). Makes for a more interesting RP for me, at least - but it will require more players. What do you think?

Yeah, weapons smuggling and other operations to get aid into places the Germans don't want it is a huge deal. So is getting intelligence out of the camps. That was major stuff in the real timeline.

Now that you mention the whole element of higher ups in the structure, rather than foot soldiers, I think I have a better grasp on what you're doing and I can work up a character that'll work for that scenario.

It's not really a structure as much as it is different people working of different areas of the AK. Fun fact, the Home Army even stole weapons from Nazis arbitrarly walking down the streets, and traded with Italian and Hungarian units stationed in Poland. I'd love to see players pull of such raids.
