The beast keeps scratching at his wrist. It doesn't hurt. It should, but all he feels is a small amount of pressure, nothing else. He could cut the hand away and feel nothing.

Christian Bouviet shifts in his chair and wakes up. He's out of it, but tries to pull away from the bindings holding him. It takes a while for the man to realize that he didn't fall asleep on his desk. Eyes snap up and search through the room. They take in the empty, abandoned warehouse before finding the beast. He looks scared. If the beast were to break this mans arm, he would scream.

If he were to say that out loud, it would be taken as a threat. The beast just finds the differences to be interesting, that's all. He stops scratching at his wrist and reaches for the pistol strapped to his belt. Now that the man's awake, he doesn't feel so safe anymore.

”What-?” the man in the chair stutters out. He chokes down the rest of his words. Tries to appear tough. He's a scientist, so he isn't tough. The assassin remembers reading more details, but can't recall most of them anymore.

”Ah, no worries, you're safe for now. We're just, uhh... waiting for some company,” he waves the gun on his hand carelessly as he talks, and points at the open door. The scientist tries to flinch away and seems more cautious than before.

”What?” the beast asks. Then he follows the scientists gaze. Tries to think of something encouraging or calming to say.

”I'm not gonna shoot anyone until your son gets here,” he finds himself saying. The man pales and looks ready to faint all over again. Not the right thing to say, then...
”Not that shooting at things is the only option, here,” he rushes to salvage the situation. Bouviet doesn't seem placated.

It was late at night, his father had been missing for a while now, and the government clearly wasn't going to be doing anything about it. Leonel decided to take matters into his own hands, he slipped out of the facility without an issue. He wore a black cloak to help fight the cold wind, that signaled winter's beginning, and be able to blend in with the darkness of the night. He knew better than to let someone see him, there were people that might recognize him from school or there might be government officials that will know that he's not supposed to be running around town alone. He was only outside because he wanted his father back. He didn't care that a beast had him, or that this beast could easily kill him, he wanted his dad to be safe. He didn't have anyone else in the world, and he wasn't about to lose his father because the government couldn't keep a handle on their own projects.

The young man walked through the alleyways. He had these maze like alleyways memorized after a few years of sneaking out by himself. He now crept slowly through the maze, checking every direction as he went to make sure he wasn't being followed or get spotted by another person. Everything felt so silent and eerie that night, it made him want to just run back to the only place he knew as his home, but he continued to push himself forward. The moon was high, and he didn't have that much time to be running around looking for this beast. He could only search where he thought the beast might hide. The same sort of places that he had passed by when he would sneak out of the facility and thought would be great for hiding away from this government. Places that he and his father could move away to and just live normal lives again. He knew that his father would have never allowed such a thing, but the boy used to wander around and think how easy it would be to get away from these terrible people.

He finally found himself in front of an old building that had been abandoned for quite some time. He stopped dead in his tracks and saw that the door he was sure had been boarded up before, was now completely bare. The windows still were covered with wooden planks nailed in and were left completely untouched. It didn't really make sense, but still it brought a small smile to Leonel's face. He tried to look through the cracks between the planks on the windows, but he couldn't even see a sliver of the inside through the glass. He sighed, the only way in was through the front door. He would have to take it. His dad might be in there. Leonel pulled the cloak around him and made sure the hood was pulled up and covered his face in shadow. Not that it really mattered, he was sure the beast had no idea who he was, and he was just there for his father. Finally, the boy went up to the front door and slowly opened it. His hands shook with fright, he knew that this was a stupid idea, yet he still continued into the abandoned warehouse..

He slowly stepped into the abandoned warehouse, the green eyes under his thick black framed glasses searched quickly and his eyes laid on the two men in the room. "Dad!" Leonel quickly stepped towards the man bound to the chair, but quickly remembered that there was another man, an armed man, in the room. He stopped dead in his tracks and looked over at the beast. "Wh-What are you planning on doing with him?" Leonel asked.

”Hey, great! I knew you'd find your way out, eventually,” the beasts lips stretch into a crooked smile. His tone is bright, but the raised gun - aimed right between the boys green eyes - makes the greeting feel much less welcoming. The son has asked a valid question. Not the right one, but it's valid none the less.

”he right question would be, ”what are you planning on doing with me?” Me being you, in this case. Obviously. Because clearly I have nothing to worry about,” the beast continues to talk. For a moment, the smile turns into a wide grin as he looks at the boy carefully. He thinks he's right. Then again, there's a lot one could hide under that cloak. He probably shouldn't assume anything.

”No sudden moves, kid. Scientist guy, look at my face,” he tells Bouviet as the grin on his face disappears. The man does as he's told, though it's obvious that he doesn't want to look away from his son. Like staring at him would keep him safe.

”Will you remember it? Your sons life depends on it,” the beast raises his brows but doesn't move his eyes away from the kid. The boys name starts with L, if he remembers right. He hadn't felt the need to remember it. What matters is that the right face found his way into the right abandoned building. The beast is just glad he's gotten this far.

The hand holding the pistol stays steady. Bouviet nods multiple times, mouth pursed into a worried line.

”I was part of that beast program of yours. You're a scientist there. Christian Bouviet,” the beast nearly stumbles over the last name and takes his eyes away from the son for a moment. ”Your kid will stay with me, and you're going to find a name that fits this face, right? Age, place of birth, any kind of info you can find. And when you return them here, I'll let your son go. Unharmed. If not...”

He's not even through his spiel before the scientist starts shaking his head.

”You are not involving my son in this,” Bouviet hisses as the beast sniffs, lets his free hand brush under his nose. The cold is slowly getting to him.

”He's already involved,” the beast responds with a scowl as he studies at the Bouviet kid. ”Either you both die and I find someone else, or you trade places.”

”What do you think, kid? Which option sounds better?”

Leonel stayed where he was, staring at the pistol that was aimed right at him the entire time he was speaking to his father. He knew that this situation was going to be dangerous, yet any courage that he may have started with was now completely gone. He wasn't really sure where it came from in the first place, but he was quite sure that his father didn't have any courage in this either. It made it all the more difficult to listen to the beast talk and reveal his whole plan, that didn't exactly sound right to Leonel at all, beasts weren't supposed to be human at all, to want to know anything about his past was odd. It didn't make sense, but whatever was going on with this particular beast was just what Leonel needed for his way out. He'd be able to get out of the government's hold and be on his own again, something he had been wanting for quite some time. This was a way he could actually do what he wanted and not have to worry about getting attacked, at least not right away.

Leonel crossed his arms and even let a smirk show on his lips, "I'll trade places with my father then." The smirk went away completely the moment he saw the look on his father's face. He could see the disappointment and just how upset he was with the agreement. Like, he expected more from his son or at least a different kind of response. Suddenly, the thought that he'd probably never see his father again, came to him. It took any sort of excitement he just had completely out of him and made his heart feel heavy. "I-I'll be alright, dad. It's just until you find the information on him. There's gotta be a file somewhere, right?"

Christian nodded, "But, Leonel, you can't stay here with this monster. It isn't safe."

Leonel shook his head, "It's safer than the government building we're living in. Look, the man needs us, he isn't going to do anything to me that's going to risk not getting the information he wants."

Monster. The beast couldn't remember anything from the time before the program, but the word was familiar enough. An insult, often the last thing he'd heard from his targets if they had the time to say anything at all. He tried not to concentrate on the memories of that bitter, frightening word. He had something more important to concentrate on.

The son – Leonel, that was the name – had said yes. Seemed pretty confident that this was a good idea, even. There was no need to send a bullet through anyone's head.

”He'll be fine,” the beast dismissed the scientists worried words, strolling towards the man. The hand holding the gun lowered, changed targets. Settled on the side of Christian Bouviet's skull. The other reached for the knife strapped to his hip.

”So, Leonel, was it? Move away from the door. Go lean on the wall on your left, where I can see you. You're a smart guy, you know that running isn't an option,” the tall man spoke as the knife reaches the bindings holding Bouviet in place. A moment later, the man is free.

”Stand up. Start moving towards the door,” he commands. Bouviet does as told, with hesitant, steps. He doesn't want to leave his son alone.

”No need to worry about a time limit. I've got all the time in the world. But, if the government finds this building before you do, I'll kill your son. If Leonel gets sick of waiting and tries to run off, he will get a bullet right through his skull,” the beast throws look towards the son, half-expecting the boy to try it immediately. His mouth twists into an odd, vicious grin as the man steps through the door and shivers as the cold wind hits him.

”No need to close the door behind you. I'll take care of that.”

Leonel did as the beast told him and moved off to the side of the door, keeping his back to the wall the whole time. He figured that this whole situation wouldn't last long, his father would be able to find the data that the beast needed. Then he'd be stuck back in the government building once again. He wasn't too happy about that being the situation, nor was he happy that he was in this kind of situation. Somehow, though, in his mind a hostage situation was way better than being left in a safe government building where he was given no chance to leave except for the times he risked his life to sneak out. Actually, both situations were starting to sound quite a lot alike, the only difference was there weren't as many people around and his risk of getting attacked by a beast again had just gotten worse. He would rather not repeat the whole getting mauled by a beast, the first time left him with a robotic arm and so much surgery just to get rid of all scaring and any evidence that he had ever been attacked. It was the reason he could never go outside again, because he knew too much now. He couldn't be trusted to go outside, he might tell someone about the beast project.

As Leonel's father walked outside, Leonel whispered, "Everything will be alright, dad." He watched his father leave from sight and then looked back at the beast. "Alright, so you got your way. Now, what are you going to do?" Leonel crossed his arms, the place was a warehouse, there couldn't be much furniture in the place, meaning there weren't going to be any beds to sleep on and the chairs were probably all wooden. There probably wasn't even a running refrigerator for food, or running water. The best that he could hope for was maybe a employee lounge that might still have a bit of furniture left, but it'd be old and probably broken down. It wasn't like either of them would be able to show their faces in public, they'd have people looking for them, and that would just end in disaster.

”We will move to a safer location. Check this building every day,” the beast answers as his face melting into something of a blank stare as he lowers the arm holding the gun. The previous role of a is pushed aside, is taken over by something else, someone else.

”The likelihood of me reaching my objective was... slim. There was barely a chance for the plan to get even this far,” the beast tells the other. This had been a shot in the dark, a last chance. He still waited for the government, or a fellow beast jump into that door. Had expected it long before Leonel had stepped through the door.

His chances of succeeding were much higher than before. Hope is an unfamiliar feeling, but welcome none the less.

”I didn't expect you to arrive at all,” he admits, giving the other a sideways glance. It's curious that Leonel did, instead of waiting for the government to act. Perhaps he doesn't trust them. Perhaps he wants to avoid the government as much as the beast does.

They might have something in common.

The thought makes the beast frown as he stares at Leonel, dark brown eyes oddly intense before marching to the open doorway. He peeks outside and finds nothing, not even the retreating back of Christian Bouviet. The gun finds it's way back to the holster. He steps away from the door - one, two - and his hand shifts towards his wrist before falling limp again.

”I will take lead. Don't run away,” he warns Leonel again before he steps through the door, expecting the other to follow before he shuts the door behind him.
