I'm not sure if the term has been used before, but I consider myself a geek rebel as in I do not like things that most geeks are into. I do not watch Doctor Who and never will. I do not watch any of joss whedon's shows and I will never call him my master. I am a huge comic book geek and DC is my favorite company, but Batman is not my favorite superhero, in fact I almost never read any Batman comics, I read all of the obscure comic book characters. I do not watch anime and don't find the stories interesting. I don't watch movies or play games because all my friends do it. That's why I call myself a geek rebel, are you one as well?

I never thought there was a gold standard for geeks to measure against, since geeks are generally intelligent enough to choose their own interests to become geekily focused upon. PS. However, membership here on this site certainly qualifies you to be one almost instantly.

Seriously it's like the one show that almost every geek watches, if that's not the standard then I don't know what is. Also by the fact that fanboys bash things that don't understand or know shows that there is a standard for being a geek, like Batman being the standard for fans of DC. The fact that you can be called gay for liking certain geeky things that other geeks don't prove that geeks have their own standards especially now that the community has become huge.

I don't watch Dr. Who and never got into it, and I consider myself a card-carrying geek. Good luck to anyone that wants to disenfranchise me. > geek > Slang. > >noun > >1. >a digital-technology expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often used disparagingly by others). > >2. >a person who has excessive enthusiasm for and some expertise about a specialized subject or activity: >a foreign-film geek. > >3. >a peculiar person, especially one who is perceived to be overly intellectual, unfashionable, or socially awkward. > >4. >a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken. And under the given definitions, I'm pretty sure any active member of this community qualifies as a geek.

Yeah well wear I live every geek seems to be into doctor who except for a few geeks and I see whovians everywhere so it's not far fetched to consider it a standard of geek culture.

The Patriarch, I will never understand you. Never. Also, someone needs to study your mind. I want to know what's going on in your brain.

Woah... I mean, I have called myself a geek hipster before, but that was a joke about me watching really obscure anime. > > The Patriarch, I will never understand you. I'll put twenty in the pot for that. Seriously, you don't need to be "different". Is being a human being that has never been seen before and never will be again not good enough or something?
