Avani thought Kasai’s thumbs up was the cheesiest thing she’d seen her do. She didn’t quite know how to react, so she scratched her neck and coughed. “I don’t care about medals, but I find it amusing that you do.” She grinned. “I thought you said several times you weren’t doing any of this for recognition or yourself?”
She shrugged, and sighed. Her reasons didn’t matter, and she shouldn’t have brought up that argument again. It had caused enough damage already. “Oh well, let’s hope it turns out for the best in the end. I’m sorry if I dampened your mood for the whole thing.” Avani smiled and caressed Kasai’s cheek. She didn’t much care for the paper, some medal or what the mayor did. She certainly cared for Kasai though, so she was willing to put up with all of it as long as it made her happy. Maybe Avani’s behaviour and mood had made that more difficult than it needed to be, though she doubted Kasai would have been particularly happy after disclosing how her friends died either way.
“I just don’t like being silent when people may be trying to trick me, or you for that matter now, but that’s a more recent occurrence.” Avani smiled. They needed to cheer themselves up somehow. All this reminiscence to one of their worst days wouldn’t do any good. “It’s probably better if I save cash for our upcoming world tour, but how about getting some booze and spending the rest of the day packing?”
Right now, returning to the haven that was Kasai’s apartment felt like a great idea. Just the two of them for the rest of the day, letting loose and getting ready to leave this city behind. She was rather curious how Kasai would act if she did get really drunk too, and after the meeting with the reporter alcohol could help them both forget once more.
“Come on, let’s get some sweets and drinks then go back to the apartment.” Avani said, took her keys out of her pocket and walked over to where she had parked her motorcycle. She waited until Kasai had climbed onto the motorcycle as well, then drove off towards the stores that would carry the items they needed to have an enjoyable final night before the trip.
A couple of hours later, Avani pulled into the parking lot close to Kasai’s apartment complex and turned off the motorcycle. “I guess we can’t pack too much if we’re gonna travel with my motorcycle.” She stepped off and picked up the bottles she’d paid for. “I like the idea of traveling light, being more creative and having to survive with what we got though.”
