Ludwig was running with the rest of his men, warning klaxons were going off like crazy. They made to the hanger where the rest of the regiment and embarked on the many valkyries ready to carry them to the surface of the planet below. Ludwig grimaced after he had strapped in, he had heard it was a desert world and he didn't look forward to the sun and annoying sand. He looked around at his platoon command squad and said, "Another soon to be glorious victory for us men!" they all chuckled at this as the valkyrie took off into the atmosphere. The descent was smooth for the most part, this was going to be just as simple as taking candy from... suddenly the valkyrie shook violently, Ludwig took as turbulence and resettled himself. Suddenly a huge "KRACK" sounded followed by what sounded like a monumentous explosion, and then they were falling, howling wind entered as the rear boarding ramp was ripped off, exposing the cabin to the shrieking air around them, and then it all went black... Ludwig woke up, and the first thing he saw was the sky filled with smoke. He tried to pull himself up, but found he was still strapped to his seat. As he undid the straps he looked around, and noticed that he was in the valkyrie... or at least the half he had been in. He walked out, and then turned around to see if anyone else survived Anyone alive?

It had been years of training and drills that had led to this deployment. A back water planet that needed cleaning up, nothing the unit hadn't dealt with before. It made Tarquin proud to serve, ironically of course. The day that they set out everyone seemed a little rushed however nobody could have guessed the danger that awaited them. Jogging into the back of Valkyrie he strapped himself in opposite the Sergeant and shuffled so that the Vox on his back was comfortable. Whilst slightly unwieldy the Vox was essential and Tarquin was honored to carry it. Tarquin chuckled at the ironic victory cry of Ludwig, he was a hard arse as an officer but it was the hard arses that kept men alive. A quiet journey gave Tarquin time to rest and his eyes drifted shut as he day dreamed the journey away. Slight shuddering dragged his eyes back open and just as he was about to put it down to turbulence he heard the sound of the AA hitting the craft. Instinctively tightening the straps around him Tarquin's eyes went wide as he watched the rear of the Valkyrie rip open. There was loud gunfire and another explosion before the whole craft begun to spin wildly. The Ge force was intense and it was all Tarquin could do not to throw up in the fall. There was a whistle as the craft reached terminal velocity and then they hit the ground. Tarquin was thrown forward and he blacked out as his body was slammed around. Fluttering his eyes Tarquin was greeted by a pounding pain in his head and a deep, dull, ache in his side. Breathing heavily his eyes struggled to adjust to the smokey wreck and his hand fumbled as he tried to find the ermergency release for his harness. Pulling hard on the lever the straps released with a snap, allowing Tarquin to fall to the floor hard. His head was spinning and there was a whining in his ears. Rolling onto his back he lay there for a few moments, until the whining stopped. He then rolled onto his front and continued to throw up onto the floor. As the bile slopped out and away from him Tarquin felt better already. Struggling to stand up he crawled to his knees and dragged himself out of the wreck. Finding the cold steel, slick with blood and oil, replaced by the dry sand he rolled back onto his back and continued to breather heavily. Just then the message came in over Tarquin's personal Vox. Sighing he get back onto his feet, dusted himself down and stumbled out into the desert, spotting the other half of the Valkyrie Tarquin begun to walk over towards the silhouetted figure that must have been the Vox. Hearing the message again he recognized Ludwig and waved as he made his way over. "Corporal Antonus, reporting in, sir." As he finished walking over Tarquin was getting some feeling back and even managed a half heartened salute as he sat down on the and next to the Lieutenant.
