The Last Wizard

Story:
Wizards have always been trained to advise the kings of the land. They are taught all the history, wisdom, philosophy, math, science, and war strategies throughout their training. They are trained from age 13 until they are old enough to advise the king, and they are to remain solitary, celibate, and somber all their lives. Of course, because wizards have existed as royal advisers for so long, legends have developed around their mystery. Surely you have heard of the skillful and powerful magic they perform--magic that can keep monsters at bay and make enemies turn away in fear. Legend also claimed that if a wizard ever produced a child that the child would bring monsters to plague the land until the day it no longer remained. But of course there's no such thing as magic and certainly not curses. Not really, right? It has been 10 years since the most recent wizard was selected as adviser to King Albert. Wizard Sarkkus was different compared to all the wizards of the past, and the kingdom had been attacked twice since he came to office--once by invaders from the south and another time by a horde of monsters! Traditional law gives a wizard three failures before they are expelled from office and executed. So when the third attack came just three days ago, again by monsters, King Albert was forced to perform to a formal execution. After the traditional law was read aloud before a crowd of citizens, the king asked if Sarkkus had any last words. "Yes I do. I suppose it would be important to inform you all that I have a child." Gasps and cries of horror echoed throughout the crowd. Seeing the resulting chaos he caused, the wizard laughed aloud, beginning to levitate into the air, and, with a flash of fire, disappeared from before all of them. Just then, the roars and howls of ravenous monsters were heard from the east. And to make matters worse, the courthouse was on fire...

Rules beyond the EnA Handbook:
  • Be respectful to one another.
  • Be available to take your turn and let the group know in the OOC tab if you're going to be unavailable for a while.
  • PG-13 content and down.
  • Play fair--Respect the dice.
EnA is a pretty free playstyle (anyone of any skill level can play) with a few important rules, so be sure you know how to play once we start the RP. :)

Biography: The Order of the Black Powder is a relatively new collection of knights, loyal to the king, who have taken and keep secret the knowledge of building guns. The Chevalier family have been members of the order since its inception, and Alphonse is the most recent member of the Order to build his own gun. He has entered into the King's service as a monster hunter.

CHARACTER NAME: Sylvester Champogne Gender: Male Age: 23 Character skills: KABOOM! Able to create explosives like grenades and use them. Fatal flaw: He needs resources like gun powder to create said explosives.
Biography: The Guild of Exploding Items is a guild of scientists specializing in one thing: Things going kaboom. They work to help with household accidents (that result in something going kaboom), supply soldiers with things that go kaboom (...They go kaboom) and make explosives for soldiers. (that, you guessed it, make things go kaboom.) Sylvester is a veteran of such affairs to the dismay of his family who just don't understand his fascination with things going kaboom. Have I mentioned kaboom yet?

Okay, so the Order of Black Powder hates the Guild of Exploding Items. They think of them as an inferior peasant version of themselves, and usurpers of the noble gunpowder. Little bit of character history for us. Though, I don't know if two gunpowder characters is going to be acceptable, we'll see what Alamantus says. The extra roll bit in the CS I did isn't a necessary addition, I put it in as a reference for his reloading specifically. Though it might be a good thing for all characters to have in their skill.

I know it wasn't, but it seemed like a good choice. But if the GM won't allow, GM's word is law.

Anyway, yeah, @Derpestein, I think you're fine as another gunpowder character, but unless you've just got your own explosive roll scale written there for your own reference, I'd say just go with the default for EnA, because you won't just be rolling for attacks, but for every action you take in the game, including opening doors and stupid little things like that! :)

Yep! I've played tabletop dice games before. It's just my own chart for convenience. How many more players do we need?

Very cool, just making sure. :) We need at least 1 more player before we can get started, and there's not really a max number unless it gets ridiculous. The biggest concern is that everyone is at least attentive to the game since it's 100% turn-based outside of dialog...

Character Name: Datura Clemis Gender: Female Age: 25 Character Skill(s): Make medicine and uses plants for healing Fatal Flaw(s): She’s a quack doctor. She kinda knows what she’s doing yet kinda not; although, she doesn’t seem to care all that much. Half the medicine she creates would probably/most likely have prominent side effects. Biography: A traveling apothecary from a foreign land, Datura traveled from town to town, selling her concoctions whenever she went. Whenever her medicine failed, she would high tail outta town to avoid an angry mob demanding their money back. One day after one particularly long mob chase, she decided to settle down for once after being chased to a different kingdom – in a graceful and lady-like manner, of course. She even grew something of a green thumb after settling for a while. Although, every so often, she'll pack up and travel once again to sell stuff.

Definitely! That was a great use of it! And it helps us move on, too, which is nice because I've never gotten this far in this EnA scenario before. :D
