from what I've seen of martial artists of the world of fiction such as this, even attacking and fighting as allies can help to build stronger bridges. They can learn more about each other through the exchange than mere words.

I would guess the lack of reaction would be due to us all being fighters. It could be assumed he just came from a fight.

Impressions for fighters should be strong dude xD The way I see it you can better trust and get to know someone who makes a good strong impression than someone who doesn't.

Fun part for me, with the way my character would fight, I really shouldn't be allowed a proper spar for what he does. That would end horribly, (as you may have noticed from my character arm breaking is common for him, its his preferred method)
