I'm not going to host this cause I want to host Shadewoode, but I want to go ahead and throw this out there; perhaps someone else may want to host it. Ever played KotOR or KotOR II? It was an epic role-playing game set in the Star Wars universe with a cast of really great characters; each one was unique. I want to do a KotOR-era or post-Empire era role-play concerning a group of various individuals with very different backgrounds who come together and embark on an adventure (or set of adventures) together. Over time the characters reveal their histories and personalities rather than reveal them via the OOC bios. But what types of characters and backgrounds would you want? Each player-character would serve a very specific role in the storyline. So far I have: The Jedi Knight - A powerful Jedi Knight, more or less the protagonist (alongside the Sith). I prefer a female to offset the male Sith. He/she is captured by the Sith Lords but is rescued. The Sith - A powerful and unforgotten 'Sith', though he does not identify himself as Sith. He is out to pursue the actualSith Lords for whatever reason. I will be playing him. He rescues the Jedi Knight, which is how the quest starts. The Smuggler - The Smuggler owns the crew's spaceship, one of the best ones in the galaxy (think Ebon Hawk or Millennium Falcon). He/she is hired on to transport the Jedi Knight's crew to other planets, but also knows some basic combat. The Thief - Individual who gets by on stealth and stealth-related actions; can sneak into places. Hired on to 'do some special jobs need doin''. The Mandalorian - Experienced Bounty Hunter either hired by the Jedi Knight, or hired to kill the Jedi Knight. Whichever case, he/she becomes part of the crew. They are well-equipped, weapon-experts for the team. The Droid - Sentient droid with hacking/intelligence abilities. They are not like a battle droid; they are fully sentient, like a living organism - such a General Grievous (although he wasa Cyborg); I do this to allow them some sort of liveliness and not make them some 'basic machine'. Sith Lords - Antagonists, not playable.

This sounds more like a game setting than an RP setting. We can't say for sure what it is about the description above, but something feels... missing... Why would the Sith rescue the Jedi? Whats in it for him? What keeps the Jedi from killing him for being what he is? Why would the others serve with each other? We think you might have tried to bite too many pieces out of the Star Wars cake of lovely character types. We'd suggest focusing more on a smaller part of the potential types. Mandalorian bounty hunters are generally rare. True Mandalorians are warriors, not bounty-hunters. For that matter... When are you planning on setting this up in the star wars timeline? what sort of droid do you want there? an astromech? a humanoid one? Sounds a bit like you're trying to mix a protocol droid and an astromech into a single character.

It's a party-based RP. The 'Sith' character is more like a rogue Jedi, or a Dark Jedi I guess, I need to do some research on that. He's in no way aligned with what the actual Sith are planning, nor does he want what theywant. The Sith character merely uses the Dark Side of the Force as a means to his own ends; it is a powerful ally, and he knows this, so he's going to use it. The Jedi has something he needs, and once he gets it the two will decide that perhaps it is a good idea to stick together. Also, I doubt the Jedi would outright kill someone, as they don't like to do those sort of things. But don't forget, if she is rescued by the Sith character, what exactly is going to cause her to kill him? Especially when she needs him just as much as he needs her. The others would have their own reasons. A bounty hunter may have been promised a large sum, a smuggler may be granted whatever. The droid would be protocol/humanoid, but he would have programming that could give him similar abilities as an Astromech. I would have wanted it to be Old Republic era, after or even perhaps during the Mandalorian Wars - though that would cause complications with the Bounty Hunter character and the Jedi.

"Old Republic era" is extremely vague. You do realize that covers something like twenty-five thousand years, right? We recommend looking up a specific period and studying that a bit before you decide when to set things. Its only in the roughly last thousand years of the republic that the Sith numbered a mere two. The Rule of two was set up around 1000 BBY (give or take a few years). and what will you do if nobody's interested in playing one of the character ideas you've got? or even two?

To be fair, KOTOR did mix an assassin droid with a protocol droid and did it so perfectly that they really did make the best droid in the SW Universe ever.

well, true. Assassin droid and protocol droid is far easier to mix and remain consistent. They're usually roughly the same basic shape. astromechs and protocol droids not quite so close. we got a bit of a crazy suggestion now... how about instead of having the role list like this: A female Jedi in distress droid with slicing skills that talks Sithly hero etc. have it on two lists... One with the types of characters you want (One jedi, one smuggler, one droid...) and a second list of skills you want spread out on your "crew" (Slicing, combat, floppy-eared comic relief, weapons' expert...) That would give your players more wriggling room when they make their characters, but still achieve your goals for team makeup and team skills. Of course, once you get certain roles/skills filled, there'll still be some less for the rest to pick from.
