Charlie clicked the switch, and the gravity slowly started to raise back to normal, slowly so it could easily tell the gravity is changing as things instead of floating just around, started to float towards the floor slowly until gravity returns to normal.

Aery, having drifted into a very strange orientation while taking notes, yelped as the gravity flipped back on and hit her head on the desk as she fell. Muttering to herself she continued going about her work, checking on her biospheres. And then, once she couldn't see, she realized that she was bleeding, and the blood was dripping into her eyes (which was bad) and onto her holopad (which was worse.)
Mumbling curses she disinfected the gash in her forehead and plastered a bandaid on it, then scrubbed the screen of her holo-tablet. She stormed down the hallway, mumbling under her breath about "good-for-nothing boys who disrupt the science of the ages by testing contraptions without any warning." She raised her voice. "A bit of warning might have been nice, Charlie! Oh, crap!" The last bit because in the jostling the freaking birdcages had come open again. She ran around through the cockpit, through the cantina, trying not to trip over instruments or packets of food, chasing the blasted birds back into their cages.
"Remind me to either get new cages or get rid of the freaking canaries, at our next stop." she mumbled, flopping down in an overly-theatrical display on the cockpit floor.

(the gravity went on slowly like 0.1x, 0.2x, 0.3x, 0.4x, until 1x regular gravity, not instantly lol)

Charlie slowly had his feet contact the floor then walked rest way down the hall, he would enter the cockpit and raise an eyebrow.

(Right, but she was near the ceiling to check on the birds, and she was so absorbed in notetaking that she didn't even realize it was turning on until the full gravity turned on, at which point she was still a couple feet above the desk. And "upside down.")
Aery saw Charlie standing over her, looking mildly concerned. By way of explanation she said, "The freaking canaries. I really need a touchpad airlock or something, so that if they get out they can't actually get out into the entire ship." She stood up, dusting herself off (as a gesture, since there was no dust in the ship.) "How far out are we from Nakata? The sooner I can get rid of the blasted creatures, the better."

he chuckles and looks over her head at the wound then looks at the main screen monitor as a solar map appears on it, showing their ship, it's course and where Nakata is "..about two days" he says "only because we're going regular speed though, if we went light speed it would take only one... then again the ship would probably break apart half way" he states

"Right, and the acceleration phase would take a week at least, which wouldn't make sense. Let's not risk it. Anyway, didn't the hyperdrive blow out two weeks ago or something?" She giggles.

he looks at her with a raised eyebrow and a chuckle then looks back at the screen "cording to the system it's still working... unless that starting to fail to.. in which cause gosh dam it" he says shaking his head "well at lest this ship had lasted a few months at very least.. hopefully we can get a job on Nakata where we can get a good amount of money" he says "otherwise we'll probably be stuck there for a little while"

"Well, we were at 99.8% of light-speed for the better part of four months, which means that 60... no, 62 months went by on the earth clock. 5.1667 years, Which means that my investment in the bank would have doubled and a bit... I have about 108,500 dollars currently in my fund for xenobiologist school. Since I don't plan on attending anymore, not when we can travel the universe and meet these species first-hand, we can use that and upgrade at least a little bit. To something that isn't so utterly falling apart."
"As far as the hyperdrive, remember when I nearly went through the windshield?" The bruises from it were only just fading, the result of nearly-instantaneous deceleration. The straps of her safety harness had snapped and she'd still gone flying, concussing herself and bruising several ribs. "I thought you said that the hyperdrive must have gone out. Once you could actually get a word in edgewise." She cracked a half-smile, remembering all the curses she'd shouted at him once she came conscious.

"ah.. o ya.." he says with a chuckle shaking his head with a slight grin "...technically the inertial dampeners had to of gone out when I think about it.. the thing that makes the inside the ship seem alright while everything outside is going at incredible speeds" he chuckles "either way, ya we need to do a lot of upgrading and repairing.. or just buy a new ship.... in the state this ship is in we couldn't even sell it for extra money.. so it's going to have to be upgrading and repairing" he sighs.

Aery ducks her head to hide her blush. "We could sell some of the functioning parts. The ship as a whole is useless but some of the parts are fine. Like the control panels, since I bet the wiring is what's screwed up, and some of the laboratory equipment that isn't takeable with us, like the electron microscope and the particle collide-er, both of which I've kept in good condition. As far as extra money, I could get a job as a biochemist for a few months. Nakata Industries was hiring five years ago, and they'd not had any takers. Something about employee work environment absolutely sucking. Still, I could put up with anything for a few months. And the pay is VERY good; as an entry-level biochemist I'd be making like 120 dollars an hour or something. That's like 960 dollars a day. More, actually, since I'd do more than just eight-hour shifts. If I do twelve-hour workshifts, 1200 dollars a day. Sixty days, two months on the planet, and we'd have like eighty thousand dollars extra. That and my school money and we could probably get five to fifteen thousand for components and instruments and siding off of this thing, and we'd have enough to get a bigger, new or almost-new ship. We can make this work." She felt rather confident about her hare-brained scheme, now that she thought of it.

he chuckles "that's if we want to do the long way" he says "i'm hoping we can get a quick odd-job that's maybe week at max, and would pay unbelieveable amount of money for such a simple task" he says "...though it would probably be 'protect this individual' 'kill this one' or 'deliver this to another planet' " he sighs some smiling at her "it's been nice traveling with you I will say Aery"

Aery shifts uncomfortably. "Oh, joy. Assassinations. I was rather hoping I'd not have to get blood on my hands." Then the rest of Charlie's statement washes over her. "Charlie... That sounded uncomfortably like a dismissal... I know we haven't really gotten along all that well, what with our scientific misunderstandings and all that, but I'd rather like to keep traveling with you, if you'll have me. I haven't had much opportunity to show my abilities yet, but I'll be able to tackle whatever research projects you want me to, so that you can focus on getting wherever you want to go. And I can manage the finances and maybe even do the odd programming job or something while we're in-flight, so that we can make money." Her eyes well up with tears again. Oh for crying out loud, why is she so emotionally fragile today?

he raises an eyebrow at her "...I was just saying what they would probably be... not that i'd actually accept those jobs.." he states then when he starts to see her tear up he walks next to her, kneels down sense she is in a chair and hugs her "I wasn't dismissing you or anything..." he sighs "not having you in my crew would so strange that there is no way I could take it" he tells her "there is no way I could have you simply just go away, for many reasons" he says "all I was say is that I've enjoyed all this time we've traveled together.. and personally hope we can keep traveling together" he tells her.

Aery, terribly shocked by the hug, tenses, then puts her arms slowly around Charlie's neck, feeling very strange emotions bubbling up inside her, fighting. And then is literally shocked as one of her circuit implants comes into contact with one of his. She yelps and jerks back, laughing and crying in equal measure. Then puts her arms around him again, careful of the circuit boards. "I'm sorry. I'm just being a stupid emotional girl right now." she chokes out, and then laughs, zaps herself again, tears up at the pain of that, laughs again at herself. "Okay, really, this emotion thing sucks. It's so unscientifical."
Kiki comes zooming in, chattering in Lilliputese, to see the two older teens hugging each other, and very very quietly flies back out.

he smiles then chuckles some "your only human, emotions are natural.. better allow them to flow then to keep them bottled up" he says. he has nothing outside that is mechanical on his body, no circuit boards or anything, he just only has Nanites in his blood, because his cybertronian.

Grumbling good-naturedly. "Natural, shmatural. It still really sucks." She giggles softly, on impulse kisses Charlie's cheek. "Thank you, Charlie."

he blushes as he pulls away from the hug "your welcome" he says "I'm here when ever you need me" he tells her and then stands with his smile, face still bit red from the kiss on his cheek.

Aery nodded. And then a sound from her lab, birds squawking, and she leaped to her feet to re-cage the creatures before they could get into the fishtank.
"You birds are going to the first vendor I can find on Nakata. Same with you fish because I'm tired of trying to clean up bubbles of water every time our gravity turns off. As for the turtle..." She hesitated. The turtle was so cute. But she couldn't keep him. "I'll find a good home for you." she promised. "And... even for you puppies and kittens, because a spaceship is no place for you guys." She sighed. "Some of my plants have to go too... Venus Flytrap and Bamboo and Jade... I'll just get rid of everything. Maybe I can get myself a few more biospheres." She smiled, thinking happy thoughts about a baseball-sized biosphere she'd seen once, one full of miniature dogs. Well, canine-esque creatures, since they were actually a whole separate species that looked like canines, but in miniature.
"We keep them as pets." Kiki had come up beside her, hovering on her magnificent tech-wizard wings. "The little dogs and cats and butterflies and birds. Even the bears and fish. They're all knee-high or smaller to our people, but they're terribly sweet."
Aery looked at her sidelong.
"Oh, didn't you know? That's the only export that Lilliput has, creatures for biospheres. My family raises hound dogs. I took an interest in the fish." Kiki giggled, a bitter giggle that turned into crying. "I miss them, sometimes. I had three of the sweetest hound dogs and I wasn't allowed to bring them on such a mission."
Aery, not at all sure how to comfort such a tiny girl, said nothing, turning to stare out the window.

he smiles as she takes off to capture her creatures then would look out the viewing window "....come on old girl... you can hold on for a while" he says softly talking to the ship... pulling out a small device from his pocket, only thing his parents left him when they had passed away. then sighs and puts it away, then goes to head down the hall when the ship shakes sideways some, nearly loosing his balance.

Aery, in exasperation, puts a blanket over each of her creatures' terrariums. Without opposable thumbs, they can't get out from underneath. She stumbles at the ships' shaking and claps her hands over her mouth to keep her breakfast from coming up, and races to the bathroom.
"Ugh, I hope the next ship has better stabilizers." She mumbles, as she gets a drink of water to try to calm her stomach. "Like, thirty-six more hours, or so, Charlie?" she raises her voice slightly.
