Firefly (Sci-fi)

I saw a 1x1 thread that's based on the Firefly 'verse and I would very much like to play in an RP like that, so here's an interest check. I'm not keen to GM it though, might Co-GM if needed. We would be a motley crew of various motivations and hidden agendas gathered in a smuggling ship. Some questions about interest. Cannon characters allowed? Or no? Timeline, meaning when do we want this taking place? Post movie? Pre-movie?

I'm hardly a fan of canon characters in RP because I am nitpicky about characterisation. That said, I am not too opposed to having it here, I might try my hand at somebody easy. The movie sucked. There, I said it. And it was meant to tie up loose ends anyway, so I vote pre-movie.

Okay. I'll say no cannon characters as anything but NPCs. Since this is your interest check, then if you don't mind being a co-GM you can run whichever you want if we run across them. Second it'll be pre-movie. Anything else anyone wishes?

Hey, I like the movie. If it weren't for the movie, I'd never get into the Firefly universe- I wasn't really old enough to understand cartoons outside of the humor and the general idea- oh god bad stuff!- when Firefly came out/ended. A Serenity re-run got me hooked. I even have a big book that has all the scripts and extra notes and interviews of Firefly, the cast, and some of its items. It's called Firefly: A Celebration And I suspect we'll be going in a real junker of a ship in anyone elses' eyes. A complete and total guess, I assure you. I vote being the mechanic.

Oh, I really liked the movie before I saw the whole tv series. I even watched Serenity twice. Maybe thrice. And then I got onto the series, in order, and went on to the movie after, and holy Whedon, why, why did you fanfic it up, why. The quality of the tv is far superior to the movie. *stakes my camp* I guess there is the "But it's in a different format and had to include a newer audience!" argument. I guess.

I see your point- the TV series is a great deal better, by a wide margin. But I still like the movie (though for me, it's like a book- I can't watch it over and over too soon, otherwise the knowledge of what'll happen next will completely ruin it. This is how everything is save for Guardians of the Galaxy.)

I do feel that's wholly unnecessary and for the sake of shock and his "shit happens to good people" philosophy, which I don't agree with in a plotted story. But not that, really; just dialogue here and there that sounded like they came from bad fanfics and he was in need of an editor (but since he's boss...). He normally writes well, so they sounded severely out of place.

In the interest of helping out (and because I'm bored) I found a character sheet we could use for this. If the GM approves of course. First Name: *First Name* Last Name: *Last Name* Age: *Characters Age* Appearance: *Description of what the character looks like. What they wear, what they're hair looks like. Though an image should reflect most of this, explain anything not seen in the picture. For example scars, birthmarks, personal items they carry, clothing they typically wear, etc.* Persuasion: *Alliance, Independent, Neutral. - This just gives a basis for your characters mindset. It just says who they supported, if anyone.* Military Service: *Did they serve in the military, and if so, which side. And for how long. For reference, the war lasted from 2506 to 2511. Preferably state the highest rank achieved* General Skills: *List some general skills the character have. Capability with weapons, ability to pilot vehicles, or anything you think is a skill that would make them valuable should be listed here.* Talents: *Explain talents the character has, with as much detail as possible.* Flaws: *Every character has flaws, they are what defines a character. List as many as you can (and try not to list flaws that are technically talents)* Personality Traits: *Explain your characters personality. Who they are, how they feel about certain things, how they act. The more detail the better* History: *Explain your characters history. The longer and more detailed the better. Remember your characters life experiences define who they are. Meaning your talents should be backed up with evidence in your history. * Copy and Paste all of the following First Name: Last Name: Age: Height: Weight: Appearance: Persuasion: Military Service: General Skills: Talents: Flaws: Personality Traits: History:
