I just read one of my friend's bios, and I've come to realize... I absolutely agree with it! We seriously need a Medium Roleplay section. I've had problems joining either Free or Casual, and ending up with the same type of roleplayers. It would be very handy if there was a Medium RP, which requested you post decent characters that aren't cliche based. And maybe more paragraphs each post (No one ever posts the 2-3 they're supposed to anyway... why not bump it up to 6-8 so they'll go "FINE.. I'll post 4 paragraphs." eh?) Yeah. I also can't just tell people "No cliche apps." because they throw a fit and either vanish, or post one anyway. Then I have to deny them, or sit around and end up with three people in the RP. This new section would help a lot! Thanks for considering it.

This kinda just sounds like the Advance section. Free is meant for one liners and such. Casual one or two paragraphs Advanced a minimum of two (but usually way more. They can write like eight each post I swear xD) And Advanced is supposed to be for in depth world building, character building, and etc. So what you want kinda sounds like Advanced in my opinion. Though each GM makes their own tweaks in standards.

This is an important detail. A GM has a great deal of autonomy within their thread here at the Guild. As long as they are complying with the site rules they can tweak the rules for their RP. Want a few more paragraphs, a specific time-frame for posts? You can ask for it. Don't want cliched characters? Don't accept them. The "high-casual" Middle-section you are suggesting has been brought up a great many times, I doubt it will be implemented since what you want can be had in the already existing sections. Just make your expectations clear in your first post and enforce them, it is as simple as that.

Free, Casual, Advanced is at least in my view similar to difficulty settings (ie: Easy-Medium-Hard) and one's ability to enter into said difficulty. This isn't a way to demoralise people and say, "you're not skilled enough for Advanced", no, this is more to guide people on the expectations and ease of entering to their chosen roleplay. I just think you're getting mixed up on what level you would like to enter and you're not seeing what it is that you're looking for when you're checking out the threads. A casual Roleplay is generally a minimum of two paragraphs and some people will want to post more. I know that I personally like to add in several paragraphs in my posts so I will only ever look in the Casual and Advanced sections for Roleplays. :)

Okay, thanks for the help and comments everyone! My main problem is... everyone in Casual (At least around my RPs) seem to be Casual... and below. Not Casual+. So they usually end up making their posts 2 paragraphs MAX, which is odd. Perhaps Advanced RP is more of my style, but from the things I've heard about it, it sounds crazy more than what I'm looking for. Maybe I'll just have to give Advanced a try before I keep complaining about how things are run here. lol

Give advanced a try, it is nowhere near as scary or elitist as some would have you believe. There are people who make huge posts but they are easy to spot and avoid or seek out as is your preference. My posting sweet spot is from 400-700 words. I do more or less as needed and I'm comfortable in advanced and yet sometimes you'll find me in casual.

Advanced was in the past plagued by elitists. That is no long the case. You should really do as Lillian suggests and try it. If enough people of the "high-casual" type go in there, the average lengths in advanced will decrease.

Will do. I just simply clicked one of the links in Ellri, and I can see right off the bat Advanced is exactly what I seek! It isn't as scary as I imagined, yet hopefully 'powerful enough' that I'll have to go through multiple edits of my character sheet. ;). Thank you for the push to the advanced section!

I'm a bit late to the party, but it seems this is a case of you simply being intimated by the Advanced section. Trust me, it's not as scary as it seems :). Just try it out and see for yourself. If your standards are what you describe them as then I think you'll be a great fit there.

Exactly right Jannah. Well, being late... and the intimidated part. (OMG, I SPELLED INTIMIDATED RIGHT! WOOT! GO SPEECH IMPEDIMENT! AND IMPEDIMENT!) Thanks for the help though! I'm joining one group as of now, and they seem exactly like the very first RP I hosted over on the MCForums! We're planning on moving that RP to these forums once we complete the plot, so now I know our best bet is to drop it in the Advanced section!
